While scrolling social media and planning my next Friday Night Date Night adventure, I stumbled across LIV-Etown and their monthly 2nd Friday event series. The theme for the evening was Strawberry Jam, and the event description promised a scavenger hunt, music, stickers, local businesses, and plenty of community fun.
That was all I needed to hear.
I've attended a lot of community events throughout Central Pennsylvania over the years, and I can honestly say this was one of the best organized I've experienced.
LIV-Etown's mission is all about creating vibrant community experiences that connect people with local businesses, organizations, and each other, and that mission was on full display from the moment I arrived. Check-in was clearly marked, staff members were friendly and welcoming, and they took the time to explain exactly how everything worked. Since it was my first visit to Elizabethtown, they even offered directions and suggestions to help me make the most of the evening.
I immediately jumped into the scavenger hunt, which turned out to be my favorite part of the entire event!
The hunt sent participants to 19 different businesses, all within walking distance of one another. At each stop, I collected stickers for my event sticker book while getting the opportunity to explore shops I never would have discovered on my own. It was such a clever way to encourage people to experience the town while supporting local businesses at the same time.
Along the way, I found additional vendors and community organizations set up throughout the downtown area offering information, products, snacks, activities, and--of course--more stickers. Everywhere I turned, there seemed to be something new to discover.
What impressed me most was the turnout and variety of people participating. There were families, couples, groups of friends, solo adventurers like me, and plenty of people simply enjoying a beautiful evening downtown. The entire event felt welcoming, inclusive, and genuinely community-focused.
As I made my way through town, I learned that LIV-Etown hosts themed 2nd Friday events throughout the year, giving residents and visitors new reasons to return month after month. It's easy to see why these events have developed such a loyal following.
I had an absolute blast, even flying solo for the evening! In fact, the event was designed so well that I never once felt out of place exploring on my own.
Kudos to LIV-Etown for creating events that not only bring people together but also drive meaningful traffic to local businesses and organizations. I live about 45 minutes away, but after this experience, I'll absolutely be keeping an eye on their event calendar and social media channels.
This won't be my last visit to Elizabethtown and LIV-Etown is a big reason why! read more
