I was impressed by their professionalism, care and customer service! First time there I took my sons trumpet to get one of the valves fixed. The guy there told me initially that they were booked out a month for instrument repairs. Before I could respond, he offers to take a look at it himself and see if he could fix it. It ended up being a quick fix and he stopped what he was doing, fixed it right there on the spot and then tested it. He could have easily just added it to the repair queue without even looking at it. The staff at Live Music Center always greet you with relaxed enthusiasm. For years I wanted to learn to play the violin. Finally for Christmas last year I bought a violin and started taking lessons. They took the time to discuss the various violins they had, the differences between them, and how they relate to my musical experiences and asperations, to make sure I could make an informed decision. Bryn makes my lessons fun. He is passionate, patient and a wealth of knowledge. I am learning more about music theory now then I ever did in all my years of piano lessons as a child. My daughter takes music lessons with Will. I can't give enough stars for Will. I've had music teachers growing up, played band in high school, and Will takes the cake as being a music teacher. He knows how to keep a 9 year old entertained with learning the instrument, keeping it fun and upbeat. He is able to answer questions with enthusiasm and work it into the lesson or convert back to the lesson smoothly without having her feel like it was not a good question. He is personable and able to be goofy yet serious with the lesson for her age. He clearly knows he music and his art of playing strings. I would recommend anyone in a heartbeat to ask for Will as a teacher for any age group. I would even ask for him as a teacher if I were to want to play guitar or string instrument. When he plays a little bit with my daughter on his guitar or sings to her strumming it sounds so well with showing her how her improvement in her technique and lessons can get you to a certain level. He uses and shows me apps that are helpful at home to help with learning on certain lessons given. Live Music Center - Musical Instruments & Teachers Near Me - Vacaville, California

This place is a hit or miss. Yes they have a bunch of stuff in stock but they're not very busy either, not as busy as Gordon's. Location is possibly a reason. One is on main street, downtown, and this one is a bit out of the way and near the exit of a freeway, but going the wrong way. That said, I've been here a few times. Once I think I met the owner who was super nice and said "It's hard to find good workers." when I mentioned my previous visit that left me less than satisfied. Because of him I gave this place another go. Each time, it has been different. Sometimes people know what they're doing and sometimes it's like they hired someone from Walmart who barely knows what a note is...or they don't care. What's taken the cake is I've ordered a couple of Ukes and it's like they were forgotten orders. The first time I ordered, back in January, no one ever called. The second time I ordered, the owner called me a week after I had gone in and got a horrible experience and I think it was because of that, not because my Uke came in. Outside of the one time, I've never seen the owners there, just young people staff. I think they need to be at their store more often if they care about their business. That's one thing about Gordon's. Outside of a Sunday, every time I've gone there, Mr. Gordon is at the store. Whether he's a workaholic or likes to keep his staff in line, I don't know, but if there's a problem he's there to fix it straight away. I am not saying I'm never going to Live Music but there have been more bad experiences than good ones so I'll probably go there for supplies. But when it comes to ordering instruments, I'm going to Gordon's. They actually call you back when your instrument comes in, instead of putting it out on the floor to get sold first. My guess is that's what happened to my first Uke. It was put on the floor and then sold so no one called. Instead they kept lying and said it was on the order books and it'd be ordered soon. OR they just don't order stuff often, which is weird, because if a customer is willing to give you their green, that should be your first priority, no? Maybe not... read more

So after my WONDERFUL experience at Gordon's in Fairfield I decided to take my biz up the road and check out Live Music Center in Vacaville. LMC is located in a little strip mall right off I-80. When I walked in there were two employees workin inside both very friendly and both knowledgeable. I came in because I needed a string cutter and a new set of strings. I asked about a new line of strings available that I heard alot about, the guy wasn't too sure so he went and got the guitar lesson instructor, he gave me the lowdown and I made the purchase. My whole experience was quick, friendly and left me wanting to do business again. I notice that they offer guitar lessons and piano lessons, they may have more but that's all I noticed on this visit. If you are local and you need a music shop than I would recommend LMC anyday over Gordan's. read more

Any place that treats my little loves (aka my kids) well will always be a great busniess to me. My daughter received a classical guitar from my sister this past Christmas and of course that meant one thing; lessons. I wasn't familiar with any places in Fairfield or Vacaville that offered lessons since my siblings and I took music in school growing up, so where else to look but Yelp? After reading the positive reviews, I made the call. The young lady who answered the phone was extremely helpful when giving me information about lessons. I couldn't sign up over the phone since there are forms that need to be signed, so into the store we went. Live Music Center is in the ever changing shopping center off Alamo and Merchant. Honestly, it should be in a bigger place because they have so much inside! I couldn't believe the amount of instruments and parts they had available! All lessons are given in the back part of the store were there are small rooms lined up down a hallway. The entire staff is amazing. My daughter enjoys her lessons with Hunter (don't let his young appearance fool you, he's very articulate and wise beyond his years on the guitar) and the other instructors seem very easy going. If you're lucky, you may see some of them bust out a lil jam session in the store in between lessons. :) So glad I found Live Music Center! read more

They saw that and barely gave me time of day and wouldn't even try help at least find a replacement part. Heck they wouldn't even tell me where to start looking. I went to LMC and they hooked me up. Came in on a Sunday afternoon to exchange my sons rented violin for a bigger size. The young lady behind the counter was extremely helpful and explained everything in detail. Within 10-15 mins we were done and outta there with the new instrument! Awesome place! That instrument got me through high school and onto a scholarship and spot in a university level symphony orchestra! I have never been disappointed with Live Music Center. This place was very helpful. I cannot remember the name of the man who helped me, but I went here on Jan. 1, 2011, right before closing at 5pm, and he attended to me very quickly, which I liked very much. I was in there to look for a ukulele for my nephew, and in less than ten minutes, I found one with the help of the man. There was also a nice lady giving some pointers, which helped my decision to buy a soprano ukulele. This was my first time in the store and if anyone needs an instrument or help in buying one, this is a good place to go to. They are very helpful and friendly. The people and the programs at LMC are truly amazing. My daughter began with vocal and guitar lessons at age 10, and has progressed on to their youth Rock Sessions, where she has formed extremely close bonds with great kids and absolutely loves performing as a band. I went to the music center to purchase an instrument for my daughter. There was a lot to choose from and I found a clarinet at literally 1/4 the price of another store in Fairfield. On top of that, they gave me a military discount. Thank you!! There is a sitting area with some coloring pages and games for kids who are waiting...which was extremely helpful considering I have little ones with curious hands! I called to make a trial violin lesson for my daughter. I first spoke to Chris who began taking information for her to take the lesson. He said he needed to call back while he filled some information out, because it would take a while. I thought that was interesting, since I had given him all my information over the phone and he put it in. When I got a call back it was another person, Robert. He proceeded to tell me that maybe Chris didn't give me all the information. That there is a registration fee, I asked if this was even for an trial, being that we are not committing yet to becoming a student, rather seeing if the instructor would be a good fit. He said yes. I find this odd, I have never been to a place where you pay a registration fee before you become a member. I feel like it was a way to insure extra money. Really tacky. I decided not to go with them, because of this. Not that 20 dollars will break me, but I feel it lacks ethics, and makes me question the way we would be treated in the future. Too bad they lost a possible regularly paying customer, and that registration fee. I would have gladly paid it once we became a fully committed student, not a person taking a trial lesson. I would also like to add that I was going to pay for the lesson. It was not a free lesson or anything. Plus they were going to take payment over the phone, which I was going to do. After a bad experience with the local "Conservatory", I found Live Music Center. When I went in to check out about the music lessons, there were a number of the instructors hanging out and playing music in the store. This said good things about the atmosphere of the place. The staff was friendly and helpful about finding out what we wanted out of lessons, and gave me a number of options for instructors. My daughter has guitar lessons here and the staff are always really cool and seem like they are happy to be there. I haven't required anything out of the norm while I am there but they are always attentive to customers who come in and are looking for stuff. It is pretty small, and the store portion is equal to the size of practice rooms in the back. Called tonight looking for a recorder for my son. I was told they had a red one available so we drove down tonight to pick it up. Paid for it and then found out it was pink. I was told they couldn't do anything as they had already run my card. My son had his heart set on a red one. When I mentioned that we were not taking the pink one I asked how long it would take to order another one. Reluctantly he pulls up the online catalog and they don't even come in red! I turned my son's instrument in for repairs 3 1/2 weeks ago and was told it wouldn't be more than 3 weeks (which is already along time to wait). They hadn't called me yet so I placed a call to them only to find out that it's still not repaired and can't give me a time that it will be done. Instead they referred me to a repair shop in Woodland (which is a couple of towns over and out of my way) if I wanted it repaired faster. Why make me wait for 3 1/2 weeks with no phone call to follow up and tell me what's going on?? I will never take another instrument to this place for repair. read more
