Wow, I had been to this park many times back in the day, but I had NO idea they had hiking trails,…read morecaves to explore, and even a disc golf course. The caves - not really caves, they're more like crevices to explore. They aren't more than 15 feet deep and the sun lights them up fairly well, so don't be 'escared (yes, I said 'escared). Getting to them can be tough if there is water in the normally dry creek bed. You'll have to traverse a VERY steep uphill trail to get to them. The cool thing about the trails here, is that you get a little bit of everything. Some paved trails, some smooth dirt trails with lots of berms and hills that are great fun for mountain bikers (but won't tear your expensive rig up). Look for these hills near hole 9 on the disc golf course (it's hidden in the woods). Take Side Trail A (creative name, right?) to get a good view of the creek when there's water in it, and take the Blue Angel Loop if you want to walk or ride on loose river rock. I've never seen trails measured in feet. If you hit all of the trails, you can get 6 to 7 miles in. You can park at Red Horse Park, Veterans Park, or at UC Municipal Park - they're all connected to the trails. I'm amazed at the diversity of the trail system in this park. And oh yeah, they have a covered basketball pavilion, baseball diamonds, LOTS of space to run around in and even fly kites. No power lines around, so your kite won't get hung up on a line.

There is a Porta potty near the entrance to the trails, but when I looked inside, it had a pile of clothes and looked like someone was living in there or at least sleeping in there at night. I walked the entire loop and it was about one and a quarter miles. Took a little less than 30 minutes to walk the loop. So it's a good lunchtime break to clear the head before going back to work. The trail has very little elevation change just minor up and downs, but the entire trail is paved. It's basically a 5 foot wide sidewalk loop so very easily accessible for anyone who wants to get out and do some hiking or just get back to nature. I didn't see any animals but saw three different birds, a cardinal, a mockingbird and a black Phoebe. Overall, not a bad space to have lunch and walk a little before heading back to work. I would come here again.

This isolated park that we had been to on our walks was perfect during the pandemic because it…read morenever gets crowded and people social distance pretty good here. It has a gazebo for birthday parties with a couple of benches. Only thing is: bring bug spray because it's already mosquito season in Texas allows mosquitoes lurk in the shade. This park has a running trail that doesn't go too far before it turns to dirt and than you can explore freely deeper into the woods. Come here for a relaxing walk away from crowds of people. The small parking lot will let you know how full it is.

Parking is close by or close to the bridge. Visitors can also fish near the bridge as well. There are also water fountains for humans and pets next to the public restrooms. There are benches along the path and trash cans. Also, this place is great for capturing photos of nature. The area is a flood zone so be careful when it rains. They also had arts and crafts for the kids and of course we explored the rest of the park after story time! They have many options and separate playgrounds for various ages. I remember the fun I had here as a kid with my siblings and it's honestly a great experience. I love that they have so many features to the park. There's always local trucks, parties, and fun going on here. I would definitely recommend coming here anytime you want to enjoy the weather. Yanaguana is one of the best (if not the best) kid playground/park in the city!…read more Yanaguana Garden is located within Hemisfair. The park itself includes multiple sections for all ages including the main playground which was designed to be an inclusive space and follows the American Disabilities Act standards for public playgrounds. A new toddler play area which is perfect for babies and toddlers. There is also the Union Pacific splash pad which is only open during certain months of the year, so make sure to check their calendar for hours. They also have a sand play area, as well as another section with small games like ping pong, chess and many more games. Overall, this garden/park offers a wide range of outdoor activities for people of all ages. I've been taking my kid here since he was born and as he is growing and exploring new areas of Yanaguana I can truly see how well thought off this park is. To all the locals that don't travel to downtown too often, I would definitely recommend giving this park a chance before winter comes. Also, for all the tourists coming with little ones that need the space to run around for a couple of hours, this is most definitely the spot for you!

There's separate picnic tables by the Kimpton hotel side that's great for a quick meal too. Lots of splash pads and shaded areas with chairs for the parents to watch from a distance. Bathrooms aren't super clean but I think there's other spots less frequented where babies/toddlers can go for a quick change of clothes. Parking is going to be a challenge on the weekends but paid parking isn't too far away.
