I met Jim Marr to view some apartments in Winthrop, MA. He was friendly and showed my fiance and I…read moreseveral. We decided that day to sign a lease for the first one we had seen. Everything went smoothly and Jim was able to negotiate a little later move-in date for us. Unfortunately, a few days after we signed the lease, we had an incident in the neighborhood and decided that we did not want to remain in that town. Jim Marr informed me that the landlord would not return my last month's rent and began insisting that I had given them the first month's rent, which was not true. Now I am embroiled in a complicated and expensive legal process to attempt to retrieve at least part of the money I left with them. Overall, I found the experience to be completely disheartening. We're not talking about telling the landlord a day or two before moving in and then backing out - it was 11 days before we were scheduled to move and he's made no reasonable effort to re-rent the apartment. Do yourselves a favor and stay away! If you have ANY kind of issue where you can't take an apartment from them, they'll make sure you don't get your money back!
