As a first time home buyer, my fiancé and I had very little knowledge about the home buying process. We had no clue where to start so ended up asking our bank lender who recommended Chris Kostopoulos, a realtor he had used himself when purchasing homes in the past. Chris contacted us quickly and arranged for us to meet. He spent time listening to us, helping us figure out our non-negotiables, and explaining the process to us (and then re-explaining the parts that I had trouble understanding). My fiancé and I knew pretty much immediately that Chris was our guy. Due in part to the market's low inventory and in part to our obsessive need to see all our options, my fiancé and I looked at close to 40 homes in about 6 weeks time (mostly with Chris, but some open houses as well). I see a lot of great reviews for Chris here, and I have to say I concur with all of it. He is very responsive and client-focused -- he never ever pressured me about any listing, was honest about drawbacks in some of the properties we saw, was always willing to set up a viewing. I've met a few realtors in my search and I must say many of them don't really know what they are talking about. They don't know the basics of building construction or heating, they often times don't even know the details of the house they are selling. Chris is very knowledgable when it comes to building construction compared to most realtors -- at a few of the places we saw, he took the trouble of explaining some of the systems and pros and cons of the remodeling done in some of these places. Chris also really understands real estate and is deeply passionate about it. You do want to work with someone who is passionate about their job! Additionally he is well-networked and that does help. For example, I once went to an open house that was cancelled last minute but Chris was able to get me in. Pretty much every open house I went to in JP and West Rox, they knew Chris. I bought my first home through Chris and when it's time to sell this place, I'll definitely get in touch with him. A lot of things happen behind the scenes once you place an offer on a house and so you want to go with an intelligent realtor who is sensible about which battles to fight..
