I booked a massage here due to the great reviews on Yelp, but my experience was so horrible I left before the treatment even began. When I entered the building there was no one to be found, it was so odd. I just stood there a few minutes until the masseuse came in. He was kind, but the facilities were nasty. I used the restroom before the treatment began and it was not well kept, it felt like someone's personal bathroom. When I came out I walked into the massage room and he sat me down for a foot bath, the room was filthy. There were multiple bathroom mats scattered around, the floor was visibly dirty, and the massage table looked like it was draped in someone's personal blanket. This business promotes itself as a medical massage facility, the masseuse came out in scrubs. The cleanliness was more comparable to a dive bar than a med spa. The best massage I have ever received in my entire life! Me and my boyfriend were going to be in the Carmel area for his birthday. Best Massage Ever! Steve is not your average massage therapist, he is a true body healer. I've had massages everywhere - and it's nearly impossible to have an amazing deep tissue/sports massage with a new massage therapist because they don't know your body. Not the case here whatsoever. Steve got my body right away and wow, so many knots and the deep pressure was perfect. If you're looking for swedish or someone to rub oil around, this is probably not your place, but if you want to have a proper move all the tight places around and walk out feeling mushy, Steve is your guy. After talking to friends and looking around I decided to try Steve at Live Well Therapeutic massage. I have now been to Steve three times for one hour each and could not be happier. I am a 72 YO male and enjoy the cumulative effects of an active lifestyle. Dirt motorcycles, three wheelers, etc take their toll. My range of motion in my neck is greatly improved. A result far better than I had hoped. My fused back has less pain and my diabetic feet are still diabetic but at least they move a little more. Not a whole lot to do about peripheral neuropathy except make it hurt less. Steve has done that. So, if you want a real deep tissue massage, Steve is your person. I moved to Marina about a year ago and found Steve in April of 2023. I have had 10 or so massages with him so far and I have signed up for another pack of 4. I like deep tissue massage and that appears to be Steve's forte. Hope he never retires, I may not be able to accept another masseuse. Doesn't hurt that he is a great guy on top of his talent. If yelp allowed 6 stars, I would give it to him. I tend to have a lot of neck, shoulder and back tightness from spending too much time in front of a computer screen. I woke up yesterday morning with one of the sorest neck and shoulders in recent memory. I had no range of motion turning my head to the right - got that zingy kind of pain. Turning to the left wasn't much better. I'm the kind of person that when I'm hurt like that (slept completely wrong and was involved in a crazy dream) I need relief right away. Not 3 days from now. Live Well has online booking which is one of my fav things ever! Got an appt and 1:30 should not come soon enough. My appt started off with a Dead Sea salt foot soak. That started to get me relaxed. Afterwards, the massage began. He's got some serious hands and elbows. The pressure was just right - I'm not a deep tissue person but he had to get in there. The room wasn't too warm so I appreciated that. There is an aquarium in the room which I thought was pretty cool. Of course when I got done I had that massage light headed- kinda drunk feeling so I sat in the lobby where I was offered a bit of carrot-cherry juice? Not sure but it was tasty. I had brought my own water and started really drinking that as I knew - based on the amount of work I had done, there was a lot of yuck in my muscles that had to be flushed out. There was no rush to leave and it was hard to with all the zen music and comfy sofa. I left with so much more range of motion that I can actually turn my head to back out of a parking spot! Steve gave me the best massage I've ever had and I've had a lot. I had a horrible shoulder knot that was causing me constant pain and a previous massage hadn't touched it. Steve was very knowledgeable and compassionate. It was an intense experience and at the end he said that in two days it should be better. I doubted him the next day when it was still bad but on the second day it was gone! Made me sorry I don't live near Monterey and realize I need to look for neuromuscular trigger point massage when I get home. After the massage I felt dizzy and sort of sick, I guess from all toxins that had been released, but it was all worth while when the relief set in! read more

I'm not sure why Steve asks me what's hurting, because he ALWAYS finds something I wasn't even aware of that needed attention. I've been going to him for about 6 years now. I even paid him several hundred dollars to come to Ventura when I moved there. And he DID! He's amazing and I now live in Sacto, which is much closer, so I'll definitely be able to go to him now. There is no one better. He was able to get rid of two huge golf-ball sized knots in my back that had been there for over 20 years. That was 6 years ago and they haven't come back. I scheduled a short massage following a neck compression injury resulting in stiffness, pain, and muscle knots. I only had time that day for a short session (30 minutes), but I left feeling immensely better, with increased range of motion. In my opinion, this session really sped up my recovery time. I was especially happy because while I enjoy relaxing full-body Swedish massage, that wasn't what I needed this time. Steven! My lifesaver. I was visiting from LA and my flight sucked. I spent the day out and about, doing tourist stuff like going to the museums. It started to take it's toll.
