I recently booked a package which included a massage, facial, and pedicure for myself and my best friend for her birthday. Overall we had a very relaxing experience. We both agreed that the massages were just ok and were a little lacking, compared to what we are use to however the pedicure and facials were amazing. The lady who did my facial provided recommendations for my skin routine and my face felt amazing afterwards. The ladies who did our pedicures really took their time and gave great suggestions for restaurants in the area since we were visiting from out of town. I come here once a year and have really enjoyed the massages..so much so that I've made it part of my vacation. I'm not quite sure what happened this time but this was the first bad massage I've had anywhere. Maybe the masseuse was having an off day. They didn't cover my entire body and one of the focal points I asked for was done very haphazardly and randomly even when I asked to refocus on that area. I actually walked away in more pain and less relaxed than when I arrived. I've had massages at many places, and at a range of price points. I'm not sure what happened.today hereI think the moral of the story is I will ask for Manny or another long time masseuse the next time I go back. Customer service as always is lovely and reservations easy. The atmosphere is great as always too. My wife and I booked a sweetheart package for a 30-minute soak and a 80-minute Swedish massage, which we upgraded to a deep tissue massage a few days ahead. Ambiance: The venue is small, cozy, and definitely relaxing. Everything from the decoration, atmosphere, music, etc. is great and on point for a spa. Staff: Super friendly, respectful, kind, and welcoming. Even when they were running slightly late with our appointment (bathtub wasn't filling fast enough) they were nice about it and made sure that we received the full service time. Bathtub soak: Perfect. My wife and I loved this, especially the bathtub jets. The tub was clean and incredibly relaxing. Massage: Unfortunately, this was our least favorite part. My wife and I both enjoy deep tissue massages, but our massages weren't deep tissue at all. We think there was a miscommunication with the staff because we definitely got a Swedish massage instead. We should have spoken up earlier in the beginning of the massage and mentioned it at the counter, but we thought that maybe they were just starting off and going to apply firmer pressure down the road. We also didn't look at the electronic receipt until we got home and realized we were charged for a deep tissue massage instead of a Swedish. Not sure if we want to go back. I got the massage/facial package. Manuel was my masseuse, and he asked for information that catered to a personalized massage experience. I had been packing and moving in between working at the hospital as a nurse, so needless to say, my back was a wreck this week. He not only gave a phenomenal massage that had me basically falling asleep and relieved so much of my back pain, he also provided me with tips for maintaining my lower back at home. Definitely coming back to him. Isabel helped with my facial, and she demonstrated the standards of this spa by also catering to my facial needs based on the appearance of my skin and customizing the facial with what I hoped to achieve. This is a full service Spa with many treatments available. The staff is very warm and welcoming. My firs time here, I booked 3 hours of treatments. a) Citrus Body Scrub-60 minutes b) Swedish Massage-60 minutes c) Botanical Brightening Facial-60 minutes The Citrus Body Scrub was interesting. My skin did feel rejuvenated after that treatment. I just would have liked a bit more scrubbing up front of the oils, which are applied after the 1st procedure. I did have higher hopes for the Swedish Massage and brought this to the attention of management and it was addressed immediately. The Brightening Facial was o.k., I would try another treatment with a little more oomph. This was a tad too lite for me. It is a really nice facility, check it out if you are in the area. We visited the Monterey Day Spa as a bachelorette party of 8. All the services that were provided were amazing! We participated in the "Sparty" they offer and have listed on their website, however the waiting area is not comfortable for 8 girls. The spa was not able to accommodate all 8 girls at the same time, so it was a long afternoon of sitting around waiting. They provided glasses for our champagne but originally did not give us enough. They offered us extra stools to sit on, but other than that the customer service was subpar. It was awkwardly placed and other customers were looking at our table of refreshments like they could help themselves and other guests made us feel like we were in the way. We should have booked the whole spa or gone somewhere else. read more

I've never had a bad service here! Crystal B is my go to girl for all things waxing and her facials have my skin looking so much better. If you want an excellent and relaxing deep tissue massage, Ethan is the way to go. He made sure I felt comfortable and secure the entire time! The whole esthetic of the spa contributes to a feeling of calm and relaxation. I love that they always offer the restroom before services and don't make you feel bad about a small delay while you go to the restroom. The prices are so reasonable, especially when you consider the expensiveness of the area. Parking can be a bit difficult at times but I've had a staff member move their own vehicle before so I could park and another come outside the building to assist me in getting a parking spot. I had a 12:45 appt. and was taken in on time. Alexandra was amazing! This was the best facial I ever had. I had a mix of the Oceana and the Brightening facial. The mask she put on my face after all of the cleansing was soooo coooling! We discussed various products and she even wrote me some instructions for something I purchased. This was no-pressure sales. I was thankful for the advice! The best part is that this was about 20% less expensive than the big spa in town, but a way better facial. I come to Monterey often and will absolutely be back.
