This is a high-end children's store where you pay good money for items. I live out of state and was visiting my inlaws who live in town, so store credit is of little use to me. I purchased a pair of mittens that didn't end up working for my little one, went to return them not even 24 hours later, THEN was informed of the return policy. They have lost any future business i would have given them along with my local family's. The upside of this shop is that their selection of goods is adorable and of good quality. I hadn't really shopped here pre-COVID but due to their outstanding service during some pretty ambiguous and hectic times I now find myself going out of my way to shop here. The prices are higher than what I like to spend for kids stuff, but they're in line with other boutique style shops and they carry high quality products. It's not somewhere I would go for an entire wardrobe but I consistently buy gifts here. But it's their customer service that really gets me. The staff here is so incredibly helpful. One staffer here not only measured shoes for me while we were on the phone to make sure I was buying the right size, but she also texted me pictures of everything they had in stock in the size I needed. Then when I couldn't find parking she ran my purchase out to the curb for me so I wouldn't have to schlep my two kids in at the height of COVID. They really go above and beyond here! read more

It's great to see small businesses grow and adapt over time, and that's certainly the case of Lively Kids! The new owner Erin is fantastic -- friendly, knowledgeable, and has a good eye for unique items. I don't have kids, but I call this store and have things shipped to me because I know that at whatever party I'm at, I'll have a standout gift for the kids in my life. The prices at this children's boutique are on the higher end of my budget, but the quality of all the brands that Lively Kids carries are durable, classic pieces and trendy styles. So when it comes down to it, I don't mind spending extra on outfits that are going to last through multi washer machine cycles. I don't even have children and I always stop in to see what's new in this great space! The clothes are fashionable and adorable. This place is great to go for a quick birthday gift! They always wrap everything as if it's headed to a party anyhow! They have adorable accessories and just some really great finds for kids!! If you're shopping in Newburyport you should definitely stop into Lively Kids. It is a fun, funky store full of not-your-average baby and kid gear. All their items are high-quality and they have a wonderful selection of apparel (my favorite is Tea Collection). I should actually be part owner in this store given how much money I've spent here. :) I love this store. It's not cookie cutter clothing for kids - it's unique, and edgy. It's also not just about the clothes but the toys, accessories etc. You will not walk out this store without a pile of interesting and fun treats for kids that you can be guaranteed nobody else will have. I will never set foot in this store again. I agree with the rest of the reviews about being disorganized and overpriced but I was treated poorly by the owner too. It's like they just don't care about the customer. I had an issue about returning a pair of shoes and went to great lengths to explain to store clerk who was sympathetic and wanted to give me store credit, only to get a call the next day that my request was denied and the owner refused to call me back. Over a lousy 30 dollars they lost a local customer who is a member of the Newburyport Mothers Club and used to tell moms to shop there is no more. For now on, I will shop at the other great stores in Newburyport. These people do not deserve our business. read more

We met the owner while in line at a coffee shop (with our baby in tow) and she invited us over. Cute store with a nice selection, unfortunately just not the style I dress my little Southern baby in. :) If you like a funkier style for your little tot, you'll like this store. read more

I really enjoyed going to this store in Newburyport! The staff was so knowledgeable and friendly, not pushy at all. I was excited to find that the store had a great product selection and the clothes are high quality that should last a long time. Not to mention everything is so cute! This store is pretentious and waaaaay over-priced. Even the marked down merchandise at Yankee sidewalk sales was ridiculous. The owner is not a nice woman and ignores customers, yakking on the phone while you try to find something. Some of the styles and colors are just not appropriate for young children and babies. The onesie that declares "Lock up your daughters" is in really bad taste. Leave this store to people who keep the leather tag on their Coach handbags so that someone will know they own something from Coach, even if it is a cheaply-made patchwork nightmare. If you are looking for children's I thing skip the Gap and Gymboree--- Lively Kids is hands down my favorite place to shop for my son. They carry brands like Appaman, Tea, Mini Shatsu and more.... They also carry cloth diapers which my wife and I haven't been able to find anywhere else around here. The customer service is outstanding I'm both Newburyport and Portsmouth... We have visited both locations. So many things you won't find anywhere else around.... Amber necklaces, livie and Luca, unique toys and gifts.... Our favorite children's store by far! read more

I have never before felt the need to leave a review, but I feel this is necessary. **I actually visited the newer store on Market street in Lynnfield** BUSY FAMILIES WITH KIDS DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR $$. Disclaimer: I have never been to the other locations. I did some back to school shopping at Lively Kids Lynnfield. The selection was good, name brand that I usually buy online and priced reasonably. I bought a handful of items for my 7 yr old son including a pair of Appaman sweatpants. I think I knew there was a short return time policy. By the time it was cold enough to where long pants and I pulled them out of the bag, I realized they were too small. I checked my receipt and was over the return time by a few days. I immediately called the store and asked was it possible to exchange them for a size up. The girl was very unhelpful and all she could say was NO that the computer simply would not allow it. I explained that I only wanted to exchange sizes not a return, again...NO! I asked to have a manger call me back...never received a return call. At this point I have donated the $44 pants to a smaller child who could fit them. I wanted to reach out to the store again and hopefully get a message to the owner. So, I emailed the company through the website and explained what had happened. I politely suggested that they might want to change their return policy to accommodate busy families. I NEVER GOT A RETURN EMAIL OR RESPONSE. This is just bad business and terrible customer service. If you do choose to shop here, beware of the policy and don't get caught up in "life" and miss out on the return time limit of 21 days. Very disappointing experience. unfortunately i will never shop there again. i bought a pair of shoes for my baby, returned them the same day, received a credit. the next day went back to select another pair and the clerk remembered me an agreed to honor my credit though i had misplaced it. the owner, kim, intervened and refused to honor my credit. her excuse was that perhaps this credit slip would be found by someone else and be used. they had no policy in place for this situation. sales and credit slips not computerized. this is a small business that i wish i could support, but now will no longer be able to. i have left messages for kim to return my call to work out an agreeable solution and she has not returned my call. sometimes it is a more pleasant experience shopping in a large store. at least they consider 'customer is always right' and will more often provide services to ensure the customer is satisfied. read more
