It's one of those stores where you walk intending to browse but inevitably find something you love that you just have to take home with you. creme de la creme is a little hard to describe; I guess I'd call it a home goods and decor store. They sell candles, rugs, art, and various items of decor. The merchandise is of really high quality. On this past visit (I'd been in one before, too), I found a rug that just called to me. I had to have it. The store is beautiful (and festive around the holidays), and the service is so friendly and helpful. Definitely one of the many stores worth visiting in historic Frederick!

I watched as he was stalked around the store and stared down by both employees. My boyfriend and I both look white meanwhile my brother is a traditional looking Hispanic teenage boy. He was the only person of color in that store and he was followed as if he were up to no good. This was our first time in the shop and it will definitely be our last.

They had different ones with names like Whoopie Cream, Sweet Tea or Pink Moon to name a few. There are testers available so you can take a whiff - some of them smell really, really good. They also have bath soaps that are locally made and shea butter soaps as well (lavender, jasmine and clementine to name a few) - with smells like those, everyone might want to get one. I found myself looking at a lot of items in the store as I wished I could have bought everything. In the back they had sleepwear with cute sayings - they looked like mini-bags, but once opened it is sleepwear. There is even a section selling items for toddlers or babies (can't remember). The birthday freebie gets you a small signature candle that's valued at $13, and all you have to do is sign up online. My mom would get a lot of candles from here in the past that were always good, but as of recently, I've gone back to back years to get my freebie and it's always worth it. Also, the service the last 2 times I've gone has been very good. The workers have great energy and find the best candle based on my preferences. Looking forward to coming back next year!

Not so much a criticism of the store, but I want to bring a blatant case of false advertising to…read morelight. This is an email I sent to customer support: "We recently purchased an area rug for $249.99 that was advertised as 8ft x 10ft. I have attached a photo that we took when were deciding on which rug to buy which shows this. When we got it home and unpacked it there was a label attached that told us the rug's actual size was 7ft 10in x 8ft 11in. I have attached a photo of this label as well. We are extremely disappointed to have paid $250 for a product that is not at all what we expected. We had measured our living room and wanted an 8ft x 10ft rug for the space. We still really like the rug and do not wish to return it, but are not at all pleased with this case of false advertising. We felt it important to bring this matter to your attention and hope you will consider making some changes in your stores to avoid any more upset customers. As it is, we are not sure we can trust At Home for any future purchases and would advise others of the same." The response I got was: "Hi Stewart, Thanks for contacting us! I went thinking they closed at 11, and in reality they closed at 10, she came to me as I was already walking up to the front and started harassing me that THEY were CLOSED. I said okay, and kept on walking so then she said you have 3 minutes, so I looked at my phone and said actually it's 4 minutes to 10, and she said with her back towards me because she was leaving " you're not gonna dictate at what time the store closes" which I never said anything regarding at what time they close. Something so simple yet she made it a HUGE deal, and put words in my mouth. I told her she shouldn't be doing customer service with that attitude and she told me because of people like me it was that she hated it. Anyways it's just so sad to see such an amazing store with horrible employees.
