Not so much a criticism of the store, but I want to bring a blatant case of false advertising to light. This is an email I sent to customer support: "We recently purchased an area rug for $249.99 that was advertised as 8ft x 10ft. I have attached a photo that we took when were deciding on which rug to buy which shows this. When we got it home and unpacked it there was a label attached that told us the rug's actual size was 7ft 10in x 8ft 11in. I have attached a photo of this label as well. We are extremely disappointed to have paid $250 for a product that is not at all what we expected. We had measured our living room and wanted an 8ft x 10ft rug for the space. We still really like the rug and do not wish to return it, but are not at all pleased with this case of false advertising. We felt it important to bring this matter to your attention and hope you will consider making some changes in your stores to avoid any more upset customers. As it is, we are not sure we can trust At Home for any future purchases and would advise others of the same." The response I got was: "Hi Stewart, Thanks for contacting us! Our rug sizes are approximate measurements and actual rug sizes may vary depending on the country of origin and the manufacturing technique. If the rug you purchased isn't quite the right size, you're welcome to return it. Athome is one of the best stores I know, and love shopping here, HOWEVER today a LEAD called ANGIE, was super RUDE to me, at first she didn't want to tell me her name, then she started throwing the F word around MULTIPLE TIMES as if I was in the ghettoest store ever. I went thinking they closed at 11, and in reality they closed at 10, she came to me as I was already walking up to the front and started harassing me that THEY were CLOSED. I said okay, and kept on walking so then she said you have 3 minutes, so I looked at my phone and said actually it's 4 minutes to 10, and she said with her back towards me because she was leaving " you're not gonna dictate at what time the store closes" which I never said anything regarding at what time they close. Something so simple yet she made it a HUGE deal, and put words in my mouth. I told her she shouldn't be doing customer service with that attitude and she told me because of people like me it was that she hated it. This place is like a Lowe's/Home Depot sized Target/Walmart/Marshall's/TJ Maxx/Home Goods on steroids!! The staff are pleasant, when you can find them. The store is just so big, it doesn't seem like anyone is working (outside of the cashiers). When you do find one, again, NO issues with helping. This store has a little bit of everything, from beds to bedding to art to flowers (faux) to grilling supplies to patio furniture. My only complaint was that the water fountains were GROSS! read more

I loved this place! It's a homemaker's dream! SO many items to choose from with seasonal decor and discounted holiday goods after the holiday has passed. I got $20.40 of bulbs, $8.30 of paper, and $15.20 of stockings for $9.50. There are some areas where it seems the isles are barren or not finished yet, but it doesn't take away from the rest of the options. :) read more

It is true that if you ever scour the aisles for an employee to help you, you won't find one. You will have to go all the way to the front of the (huge) store to get any help from one of the cashiers. It's true what is said in the other reviews. They seem to have overpriced junk. I've never really found anything that's up to a good standard of quality and can't even find any name brand items, only their in-house brand. Take a drive across the street to Home Goods and Marshall's where you can find higher quality items for comparable prices. This store is best for needs such as whole home staging or even beach house / secondary home decor. read more

This store can keep you walking for hours as you discover interesting and reasonably priced home items and decor. I purchased three area rugs to add pizazz to the gray carpeting in my apartment, and I'm very pleased with my purchase. At Home will remain on my shopping list for nearly all my home decor. read more

Finally an "At Home" that is closer to our home than the 30+ mile one in Virginia. This place was roughly the same size as the one in Virginia and the prices are roughly the same. The location was convenient to get to since Frederick is not that large, but it did take a few tries to swing around to the parking lot. I liked the location as it was convenient to get gas and eat something nearby (Chipotle and Panera) before going home. The selection was the same with their rugs, mirrors, furniture, and all the little decor items you can get. I was never a huge go-to a large store for furniture type of person. But, I do like popping into this store to get some ideas for our home. Nothing fancy, but it does offer a good selection. People working there are nice and non-invasive. They sometimes asked if I needed help - which I did not. The parking lot is huge because they got a big lot. Overall, a fine experience and definitely a place to go if you need quick decor options. Otherwise, I tend to shop online for some of the decorations. read more

This was my first time at At Home and it was absolutely amazing!!! If you're looking for a store to inspire or fulfill your interior decorating fantasies, then THIS IS IT! Its like Home Goods on steroids. There is literally an aisle for everything. Anything you need to furnish your home or apartment can be found here. Sofas, accent chairs, cookware, bathroom accessories, pots and pans, pictures... the list is endless and the color selection is to die for. The downside... At home is definitely a bit more pricey than home goods but a lot cheaper than the Pier 1 of the world. read more

This store is like a Home Goods but with a warehouse type of look. It's also very large, so there's plenty to choose from. Not only does it have everyday house decor, but it also has decorations for events such as weddings, bridal showers, baby shower, etc. Prices are ok. I took off one star because it was hard to find an associate to help me. The store is so big so I had to walk from the far end of the store to the front end to find someone. Maybe a help button system would be beneficial. read more

Ben to save the day! I was on the look out for a carpet for the dining room for awhile, At Home sent me a birthday coupon and I realized why I hadn't thought of At Home sooner for the carpet I need! My husband and I went to At Home Gaithersburg and purchased a 9'7x7'6 carpet and curtains...we get home, and the extra 7 inches make a difference making it too big for the space. We knew the inventory of Gaith since we looked at all their carpets, so we decided to go to Frederick... we found a jute rug that was 9x7! (With no extra inches). We brought everything to the counter and asked the cashier to make an exchange since I had gotten the exact same things just diff size...the young gentleman did not know what to do since I let him know I had used the bday 15% off- Its less a star because the lady cashier in the last register said "coupon is only used once so you can't make an exchange!!!" So rudely before hearing us out! (Wearing a bandana for a mask). I was ready to leave so I was just going to return all my items if they weren't going to give me my 15% off, but Ben the manager arrived right on time to save my purchase! I'm writing a review because people who listen and make it easy for the customer should always be recognized. I would have wasted so much time and effort, and even if I liked the carpet a lot and could afford it without 15 off, I would not have purchased it just because our original purchase was yesterday and the rude lady cashier next door. I was actually surprised to see some of the reviews have the same opinion that I do of this store. Yes, it is huge...but difficult to find anything worth buying. Prices are on the lower end, yet overpriced for what you are getting. The stuff is kind of chinzy overall. But its still fun to look around. I am guilty of having bought various items. Like other reviewers, I prefer HomeGoods. But unlike HomeGoods, they don't have just one of each item, so if you want to think about it before buying, they are likely to have some available the next time you come back. read more

Huge store with tons of merchandise and minimal staff to support it. Long lines with one cashier on a Saturday while the manager strolls past calling for more cashiers but not stepping in to check people out herself. Paula was rude and condescending with zero ability to assess customer needs. I walked out of the line without buying anything. Why give money to such a poorly managed store? I love At Homes store. I live in Chambersburg, PA. Hubby and I went shopping at the one in Frederick, MD this past Thursday. The store was nice inside, but the lady's bathroom was very discussing. . It was the dirtiest bathroom I ever went in. I refused to even use it. There might have been about 5 customers in that store so there was no excuse for at least one worker to have had that bathroom cleaned. I guess smoking outside the door was more important, cause that's where two of them were at as we were leaving. I'll stick to the one in York, PA. read more

I really like this store even if I don't make a purchase. On a recent visit, I I was overwhelmed by the Halloween and Christmas decor that was on display. Since I don't have the space or desire for these things, it was a section I rushed to get away from. My favor ate area is wall decor and pictures. I've found a couple of items that I want and should probably go ahead and buy since I worry that if I wait too long they will be gone. Honestly love the store and everything in it. Well organized at times and has great prices. I have been shopping at this At Home since it's opened and just had such a bad experience I will never be shopping at this location again. I don't know who trained the staff or told them to be this rude but I am baffled. I had one simple question of if they had something in stock but there were no associates on the floor so I had to go to the register to ask. She not only spoke rudely about me to a customer right in front of my face, the attitude i was given was worse than a 12 year old girl going through puberty. I tried to be understanding that they were understaffed but she didn't even give me the chance and interrupted me saying it's too late because I already razzled her?? The prices are good and the store is clean and well organized. The staff is helpful and friendly. Chris was especially helpful with our search of chairs.
