I really do hope things get better…read more Here's a couple of occurrences. *Our daughter was given the wrong diaper brand/size multiple times, which caused an allergic reaction and her urine to seep through her clothing. *She is not being thoroughly cleaned when she has a bowel movement, thus resulting in further irritation. *We were asked to bring in baby wipes. Used for only 3 days, then asked for new wipes again. Materials being used for other kids. *Everytime we picked up our daughter, she would have snot running down from her nose to her chin. We would also see other children in the room with the same situation. Hopefully their toys are cleaned and sanitized daily. *Some personnel would have short shorts/mid rift shirts, and have 1 inch nails. From our understanding they are provided "Kindercare" shirts to wear, and gloves are used during diaper changes. How can gloves be used if their nails are long? *Still charged for services when the teachers have covid, and we couldn't bring her in. *They used to send pics of our daughter doing activities (foot paintings/learning about textures/shadows etc.). What we get now is a picture of her sleeping. *The final straw was when our daughter was given someone else's food (tortillas/fishsticks/broccoli/apple slices/milk). We have everything labeled. Our daughter could've been allergic, as well as it's a choking hazard.

Anyone coming from Chicago knows, there's a long waitlist for daycares. We ultimately landed at the most expensive in our neighborhood, a so called "Montessori" (later found out they were not in fact designated as such). We moved to Grayslake and enrolled in kindercare, the experience has been great! Unlike the fancy titled city daycare, where we were talked down too and every little thing was an "issue".... he has a loud cry. He doesn't like some of his food. He had heat rashes when he woke up from naps (we had to get a doctors note to return). The experience from Kindercare couldn't be more opposite. The directors are so kind and reasonable. They approach issues with the motivation to solve them. Our son is SO happy there and has developed much more at Kindercare then the overpriced Montessori in the city.

I address the unique needs of children through a combination of physical and mental activities. We have two "play rooms". The other room is for older children to escape from the babies and do homework or (if parents allow) video games or TV. Your child's schedule includes playing outside, we have a great play-set on an acre of land, arts and crafts, all different kinds of toys and blocks, and being taught about the importance of respect and responsibility. We rarely watch TV, other than a kids learning musical DVD. We will also have fun listening to music, dancing and learning nursery rhymes. Every full-time child will be provided with an age-appropriate workbook or coloring book to help with learning. For after school daycare, your child will be assisted with doing his or her homework.

I remember thinking during the interview it didn't seem possible that the director, Sue, really knew each kid individually like was being shown. I just didn't think a sense of care and community like that was possible given our previous experiences, but over time, I've seen that's just the way they do things here. That level of care is the way here at Goddard. The staff are knowledgeable and kind, and they know most if not all of the students by name whether they are in their class or not. My daughter has cycled through a few classes as she's aged and every single one has been great. She absolutely thrives at Goddard and loves everything about it; it's one of her favorite places to be. She has learned so much in her time here - growing leaps and bounds both intellectually and emotionally. They do so many fun activities and she asks me every morning what fun thing is in store that day - especially in summer! School leadership puts so much thought into fun and adventure for the kids. My daughter is well known, appreciated, safe, and loved, and we couldn't ask for anything more. She comes home every single day excited to tell us about her day, and excited to go back the next. She has one year left before kindergarten, and I'm honestly already heartbroken. If Goddard still offered kindergarten here, we would sign her up in a heartbeat. Before the tour I had spoken to them and told them that my son was in speech therapy. They were aware and said this wouldn't be a problem. When we came in to go through the paperwork the director told me that my son would not do well at their school and that he would need one on one care that they couldn't give, therefore he would "slip through the cracks". After observing him for 5-10 minutes she stated that she believes he is autistic and his mannerisms were all things that a child with autism demonstrates. She went on to give me pamphlets of places for him to get tested and schools for children with autism diagnosis. I let her know that the pediatrician had never once had a concern for autism and that he just had the speech delay. I left crying and embarrassed by the way we were treated. My son now goes to a new school and is thriving. He talks all the time and again has not been diagnosed with autism. I would never recommend this school to anyone. I believe they only want certain children and families who will boost the image of the school.

My son has febrile seizures so I also needed to put him someplace where I felt comfortable but also where they felt comfortable having a child there that this could possibly occur on their watch (lucky not to date). This was the place that made me feel most comfortable with his seizure disorder! My son is now in his second year of preschool and my youngest is already registered for next year to start in the 3T's program. It makes me so happy to see how my son looks forward to going to school each day. He has learned SO MUCH! He constantly comes home singing or telling me something that he's learned that day and it amazes me! But I love St Barnabas for the culture. The school environment is SO LOVING! It's like dropping him off with family. I know each time I leave he is in great hands. The staff have worked together for years and you can tell they all love what they do! What more could you want for in a preschool? This is the one! I know some have asked about the religious aspect in the school. Even if your NOT religious it's OK to still have your child attend preschool here. Religion is not forced upon you there. Yes it's faith based and my son can now tell me about Jesus and say prayers. In less than 2 months my son contracted 3 diseases/viruses: (1) HFM (Hand, Foot & Mouth), (2) Strep Throat and (3) recently RSV. They do a terrible job of properly communicating and reporting children with illnesses. I believe they underreport the number of illnesses that occur. They have zero standards for cleanliness and hygiene. Their standards are so low, they make a Motel 6 look like a Ritz-Carlton. Not to mention, the beds these poor children sleep on look like military field gurney stretchers dating back to the Gulf War. When I picked up my son during lunch hour there was a foul smell of spoiled rotten food. It smelled like a forgotten dumpster. I'd rather walkthrough the streets of Manhattan on garbage day and the streets of Tenderloin in San Francisco. They even forgot to change his clothes after lunchtime and gave him to me with food all over him. I had to clean and change him in the car before I put him in the car seat.
