But I'm going with 4 because it seemed like a decent value, and that matters to me. I ordered the twin cone (with two scoops served side-by-side rather than double-decker style). Fun to do at least once. I think I had pistachio and coffee almond fudge, but the fact that I can't remember is not a great sign. The service was friendly and masked, both of which I appreciate. Bottom line: I'd come here again for ice cream, but I expect that we'll try more of the many ice cream options in White Rock.

I wasn't particularly enthralled by my order of hedgehog gelato here. There was no hazelnut flavour and there were sporadic chunks of ice that ruined the smooth texture. The gelato just didn't seem to be particularly high quality. As I was returning to my car, I looked into some of the other ice cream shops I passed and their gelato displays looked more appetizing although with smaller flavour selections. Obviously, you can't judge a book solely by its cover, but I'll probably give the other ice cream shops on this strip a try before I return here again.

No tax shopping [Surrey, BC Canada]…read more On our way back to Washington we hung a Roger and did some shopping at the Duty Free shop in Surrey. This was a fairly big store compared to the one in Toronto. This store had plenty of souvenirs but they were pricy even with the Canadian dollar. Sections of fragrance and cosmetic products, watches, purses... then the huge area of alcohol, wine and spirits! We bought Icewine for gifting. We came across the chocolate, sweets, biscuits, chewing gum, gummy bears, maple syrup, tea, Canadian tea. We started our Christmas shopping LoL! The U.S. Customs Border Patrol did ask us if we did some shopping and what kinds of things we purchased which was mostly wine and chocolates. Travelers are allowed to bring up to $800 worth of merchandise back to the U.S. without having to pay taxes Exchange Rate 11/29/24: $1 USD = $1.40 CAD Review #3610

The store wasn't busy. I looked around freely and I haven't noticed any employee glued to me. I didn't care about the other products because I find it overly priced. It is not huge, but somehow I almost always find the perfect thing, whether it is a hostess gift, a small thoughtful present, or just something I decide I need for myself. Their gift selection feels really unique and not like the usual stuff you see everywhere else. They also have really nice greeting cards at super reasonable prices, usually about half of what you would pay at the pharmacy, and they feel so much more personal than those generic cards. It is one of those places that just feels special when you walk in, and I pretty much always leave with something I love.

Tom, at Vanwingerden, agreed to take my seeds and germinate them. He sent me pictures of the plants germinated in April and told me I could pick them up in "a month or so". Some didn't come up and I told him not to worry about those ones. The deal was I would buy the starts back. I called before mother's day to pick up the starts with no response. I called after mother's day only to discover Tom gave away ALL the plants to one of his employees. Not only did he give this employee the plants, he gave her ALL my seeds as well and then tells me he doesn't want to bug her to ask for anything back because of a loss in her family. Why would I bring seeds in and give them to their office if I didn't want the plants? Why would he get my hopes up by sending me a picture of the plants? What would ever make him think it was ok to give away my heirloom seeds? I blindly trusted and shouldn't have. The whole thing makes no sense at all and I feel totally robbed.

There was an older gentleman who appeared to be the owner who claimed "this is the best ice cream in town" and offered us with samples. I wasn't blown away but the flavors but we settled on chocolate raspberry cheesecake gelato in a cone. I thought it was decent but I was really disappointed by the crappy scoop. Anyone who appreciates gelato/icecream know what a proper scoop looks like- they would ensure there is actual gelato IN the actual cone. Instead they just plopped a small scoop (which wasn't even full by the way), you could see through the scoop (it's like when you barely have any ice cream left but you just want to ensure there is some shape but it was hallow inside). And even the waffle cone was chipped. They only reason why we bought the gelato because the owner seemed like a nice man. This was definitely a one time stop for gelato. The worker/owner should work on quality control on their product.
