Chocolate brownie had perfect chunks and the cookies and cream wasn't overly mixed. Star of the show was differently the soft serve. Thick and well portioned. Great soft serve ice cream and generous portions. It is fun to sit there and watch the traffic go by. They used to take cash only, not sure if that is still the case. Not much in the way of seating but the ice cream is so good, you don't notice the ambiance. They also make excellent ice cream cakes, but they usually don't have any ready made; you have to order and go back another day to pick up. When the weather is hot, it can get crowded, but it's worth the wait. One suggestion I would make is that you should pay for your ice cream before they serve it to you. Otherwise, you will have a cone in your hand, and then you have to get the cash, and then put away the change. On a hot day, you are going to have ice cream dripping down your hand before you leave the window! read more

First of all - this is my go-to place to get a hot fudge sundae with soft vanilla ice cream. Their soft serve is incredible! The shakes are pretty tasty, and the root beer floats are good as well. This was my first and last time going here. I got the strawberry banana milkshake. It was absolutely DISGUSTING. I ended up taking two sips and throwing the rest away. There was no banana or strawberry taste and was artificially colored. I give this place 0 stars. My wife and I both got milk shakes. $4.25 for a medium shake, which is ridiculous. I got a peach shake, my wife got a pina colada shake. Both of our shakes tasted like plain vanilla shakes with nothing in them. And even the vanilla tasted like artificial vanilla flavoring. Needless to say, both shakes were horrible and way overpriced. I wouldn't recommend this place. I have no idea why they get the business they do. You can get better shakes at McDonalds. I had the hard scoop ice cream, and when they say hard, they mean hard. My spoon was definitely loosing the battle. I got a small, which was about three scoops, for $3.00; you really can't beat that. Some flavors were better than others. The banana, butter pecan, and pumpkin were great, but the strawberry could use some tweaking. The texture was very creamy with no ice crystals. I have had my same shake many times, but today it was horrible. And one would think they would redo it for me, but no just handed me more strawberry flavoring in a cup with a spoon. I'm hoping that the owner reads the reviews. My husband and I always go here when we want GREAT ice cream. They use high quality ingredients for a nice custardy soft serve. But lately, when I get a vanilla shake, it's very disappointing. It's very icy/crystally. When I order, one of the girls goes to the back and comes back very quickly with the shake. It used to take a little time to mix it up. I can't help but wonder if they are starting them in advance and then just adding the necessary flavors. Then they melt slightly and crystallize before they get to the customer. I'm not sure but they used to be amazing and now I won't get them anymore. My husband gets a peanut butter shake and he noticed the same thing. I tried a vanilla soft serve cone one day just to see if the ice cream had changed. Nope. I think it's happening in the service step. I do really think more monitoring by the owner(s) might bring things back up to prime quality. read more

Went there tonight for the first time. We are new to Manville and we're very excited to find a custard stand. This site says your hours are 12-10pm. We got in line at 9:25 and were told that we had to tell everyone that came in behind us that they had to leave. Number 1, the published hours are wrong and #2 that is not the customers job. A woman and her 4 year is were behind us. They were in line before 9:30 and the girls refused to give the little girl her ice creams. They shut the window in their faces and were very rude to the customers. They also shut all outdoor lights off on all customers! Had we known, we would have ordered the ice cream with our order! Lastly, we got 2 vanilla dishes home and found spoons in our bag with orange ice cream on the spoons. No orange ice cream in our order! Not sure if we'll be back or if we'll find another ice cream place! read more

Best value for a great quality product. Sizes are enormous......if you order a small soft served here, you'll be getting everyone else's large size. Soft comes in vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, and banana but also orange sherbet which gets you a creamsicle when the vanilla and orange are combined. This place is awesome!! I didn't think it was possible, but their ice cream has gotten even better this year. My go-to favorites are soft vanilla with hot fudge, and the mint chocolate chip ice cream. Never have tried the italian ice. read more

We come here often (at least once or twice a week thanks to a summertime pregnancy!) and have learned there are some things that are hits and others are flops. The soft serve is delicious, however I ordered a root beer float and before I could specify the type of ice cream the server prepared it with soft serve vanilla and while I enjoy the soft serve with toppings and as just ice cream, I found it to be a bit odd to use in a float and ultimately in the end it was nothing but disappointing. I also have mixed reviews about the hard flavors, I only really care for the typical vanilla or chocolate, I'm not a fan of some of the others such as Chocolate Fudge Brownie. My husband LOVES that they definitely deliver on the toppings and don't skimp on the ice cream and that their variety includes pineapple, wet walnuts and fresh bananas. We've also tried and have enjoyed most of the Italian ice flavors, however I like them as Italian ice only, if you're craving a gelati definitely go to Rita's. read more

went there on Saturday night at 9:40. Saw three girls behind the counter and they told me it was closed. Funny thing is that there were 2 other parties there too. They would not serve us, they told us they close at 9:30. If the owner was not there, you better get your ass there on a hot Saturday night, when people are out late. I said to the girl there, well I am here, why don't you serve me. They would not budge. I started talking to different families that were there, who I did not know and we all scooted over to the new place in Somerville. I am at Boardwalk at least 3 times a week with my kids, but I am done there now. After that treatment, there are other places to go. What annoyed me the most was that when I looked it up on line, it said open until 10. If you want 3 teenagers running your business, you are going to lose customers. I ask again, where were the owners? Bye, bye boardwalk. You did me wrong, and I am not the only customer you lost on Saturday night. I see many of your reviews suck, so good luck. read more

Seriously disappointed. Been going here for years and it was always enjoyable service. Today we came, with a noticeably upset friend at 9:26 pm. Everywhere online Lj's says they close at 10pm. So we waited in line, then a worker continued to point out the customers in front of us and say you'll be our last customer. We needed one thing, and they supposedly were not closing for another 30 minutes. Maybe because it was a holiday weekend, they decided to close early?
