Context: When my father passed, he left behind a house (in Tracy) packed with 30 years of collecting cookware, books, art, records, telescopes, camping gear, and clothes. He also left behind 3 storage units. I had spent a couple of months trying to make sense of things, and then realized I wasn't making progress on my own. James responded within a day to my initial inquiry, and then toured my dad's property and advised there was so much stuff that we should probably do 2 separate estate sales. From the beginning, he was transparent about his process and professional. Once preparation started, his team came in quickly to sort and display SO much stuff, and priced it to move while also maximizing the value of items sold. Things were priced as small knick knacks up to thousand dollars+ telescopes and stereo equipment. I really appreciated the time the team took to look up these specialty items so they could get their fair value while still being sold within the time of the estate sale. Some other nice touches: I gave James his own codes for entry and arming/disarming the house, which allowed him to self-manage estate sale prep. He always made it clear when his team was to be expected on site. James consistently checked in with me about anything he had questions about (e.g. what to do about items that probably wouldn't sell due to damage, or if I was okay doing a second day.) His team took the time to set aside any personal items that I hadn't yet uncovered within the boxes in my dad's house. It's also clear that EoA's marketing system works really well, as I heard from a neighbor there was a line down the block to get in. After the sales, I worked with EoA to finish clearing out my dad's house to prepare it for sale. They left the house spotless, and even took the time to lay out missing closet doors that had been uncovered. I can't recommend working with James and his team enough. I was able to reclaim my life and also made enough money to put towards my kids' college fund.

After he trash-talked New and Again, terrifying me with stories of their leaving clients whose…read moreparents had died with bills totaling thousands of dollars, Rick McMillan extensively photographed and then plundered a houseful of my dead mother's antiques, a few hundred designer cookie jars, many pieces of Fenton and Victorian glassware, antique and collectable dolls, several signed cuckoo clocks, two lovely grandfather clocks, Hummel figurines, victrolas with 1930s records, several huge beautiful mirrors, a cache of jewelry, and every conceivable appliance--from my mother's washer and dryer to her refrigerator and microwave. Rick posted 175 photographs of row upon row of my mother's beautiful items that he'd set up on his display tables. (I will post several of his Website photos below.) He promised me an itemized list of goods sold, and later said he'd never actually promised an itemized list at all, then today scribbled vague categories on binder paper with no detailed prices next to them -- see his "itemized list" below -- and only after I'd told him that I'd recorded our first conversation and wouldn't have done business with anyone who wouldn't provide an itemized list of collectables. Further, Rick claimed that his insurance prohibited me from being on my own property during sale set-up. (Still waiting for that insurance clause page, Rick, and so are my witnesses.) On the last day of sale, Rick plunged sale prices to 70% off, an unfathomable price drop that is not even present in our contract. I have asked Rick several times now for his business license number. His only reply of '123456789' says it all (see below). After claiming hours of research into my mom's collectables, Rick did NOT inventory and account for each item -- the folks from New and Again were going to take the time to place color coded price stickers on each item -- and Rick decidedly did NOT provide an itemized list of sold goods, just vagueness on grade school paper (see below, and demand better from Rick if you have done business with him in the past or still plan to after this review.) Stupefyingly unprofessional. DO NOT let yourself be kept off of your property while M and R Estate Sales plunders your loved one's valuables. You will be told that you can't be on your property when M and R is there due to a safety clause in their insurance. Protect your valuables from this wrecking ball of monster truck masculinity and STAY ON YOUR PROPERTY at all times M and R Estate Sales is present. Learn from my mistake of falling for the 'we're a Christian company' line. In a world that takes advantage of female clients, Rick McMillan is the epitome of a predator who will answer your queries with victim shaming for something as basic as asking for a promised list of collectable items sold. He will tell you that you are 'being difficult.' Ladies especially, take your business elsewhere, because Rick McMillan wrote the following in response to my questions and concerns: 'You sound lonely' and 'Hey, Mrs. Unhappy, stop complaining.' What is this, 1950? And hey, Rick: For the 12th time, what's your business license number? You still haven't answered me, other than your stunning reply of '123456789'... **For even more toxic masculinity on display, see Rick's comments. I am sure readers are aware that photos don't lie but Rick does. Of course I asked for itemization of my mother's fine collectables before setting Rick loose in my home. Wow. Also, I am hardly psychic, so couldn't have known the scary stories he told me about his company "rescuing" folks from New and Again, who DO in fact inventory and price-label all their items prior to a sale, like Rick promised me he would but did not. Happy to have a chat with Sherry Goss and her great crew about your underhanded tactics, Rick, and your name-calling them "Never Again," because we're all still good and I like them. Finally, Rick, YOU HAD A SALE at my so-called infested house. Think about that--oh wait, now it might be infested with AIDS because you found my mother's pamphlets for patients?? WOW is all we can say. Carrie and August were fantastic. We hired Treasures to Find to do a living…read moreestate sale (which several companies will not do) because we needed to de-clutter so we could list our house for sale. That gave them challenges as far as which rooms were open and which items were not to be sold. Worse, the week of the sale, AT&T decided to drill for fiber and close all street parking on our street! But Carrie and co. pivoted to a Sat-Sun sale instead of Fri-Sat with no problem. It took them several days to sort through, set up and price everything. We were not to be there the days of the sale and had to be out of the way during setup so we just went out of town for the week--that's how trustworthy Treasures to Find is! Nothing was stolen or broken. Carrie communicated with us most of the way so we were in the know. Even better, for a fee, they removed everything that wasn't sold after the sale so we came home to a nice empty place. Only downside/suggestions for improvement would be better retention of communications--we had to reiterate our wishes and specifics several times--totally understandable due to their having multiple sales going on simultaneously, but it would be good to write all that down so nothing is forgotten. (Only a couple items were sold that we didn't want sold, but the really important stuff was not, and that's what mattered.) Make sure you make your wishes clear and ask as many questions up front. Marketing was GREAT. They generated a lot of pre-interest via their website, Facebook and elsewhere. And when all was over, what a pleasant surprise! Gross sales and net profits were about 5x what we expected, even with their commission! Carrie and August were nicely surprised as well. We give Treasures to Find our highest recommendation!
