I immediately took to the internet to find a high-quality specialist w/ a 5* rating and reviews to back it as I had installed a high-quality metal roof installed 8 years ago by interlocking roofing at the time the cost was $ 35,000.00 now that same roof today would cost approx. close to $ 100,000.00 so I needed a professional with knowledge with working w/ a metal roof that looks like slate. and wanted to do the proper assessment of damage cost etc. prior to placing a claim w/ my insurance company. As that would give me a good idea of cost repairs what would be involved as it would be a lot different than dealing w/ your normal asphalt roof where they could just go up on the roof where in this case you cannot. You would either need a lift or specialized staging set up as that come at a higher cost. in order to not compromise the integrity of the metal roof and to avoid liability, so I needed to do my do diligences in getting the right company to assess and do the job once the claim was put in. Because it was the weekend, I filled out the information online and in less than a 1/2 hour, I had a response from Brian from Safe Sweep Chimney. Extremely professional and set up an appointment on the 30th of December to come out and assess the damage. Now I had a professional I then went online and filed my claim w/ Amica who I have had for many years and are the Best of the Best when it comes to insurance companies, after filing I was notified that I was assigned a claim representee, and a claim person would be coming out on the 31st of December, so now I have done what needed to be done. Now as stated Brian showed up like he said he would at the time he had stated and was here for well over an hour did a complete assessment, cleaned the chimney and the fee was very reasonable of $ 300 as stated during our first conversation. and wrote up a report in his findings. During his time at my home Brians communication was in terms that I could understand and the process that would need to take place, and yes, a specialize staging company would need to come out and set staging w/ stairs in order to not compromise and damage to my roof but also for the safety of his employees. and the roof would have to be tarped to avoid any scratching etc. Brian also asked me if I had ever had the chimney ever cleaned, I told him no, that I had been told back when I purchased my home back in 1978 that because I didn't have a fireplace it was necessary, that may have been the case back then only to find out not to be true, to my surprise. the cleaning the chimney is one of the things Brian insist should always be done regardless this way it ensures the integrity of the bricks and shows if there are any cracks etc. that can be repaired that can avoid any future expensive cost down the road and avoid any carbon monoxide from seeping into your home. This to me is what sets Brian apart from other his willingness to take the time to educate someone like me of the dangers that could arise, as Brian put it, though it is a costly repair that it's his job to make a homeowner aways of any hazards that could arise in the future, regardless of whether I went with him or not, That was all I needed to hear, I was relieved in knowing that hiring Brian would be another one of those best asset's I would be investing in knowing the job for one would be professional, two I would never have to worry about it again at least not as long as I remain in my home. one of the best choices I could have made by doing my homework and not just hiring anyone, and the second-best thing I ever did was having one of the best insurance companies to protect me with my Home, and Auto and Liability Insurance, Amica I could be happier w/ my decisions and I urge anyone looking for reputable insurance company, reputable Chimney expert call Brian, at Safe Sweep Chimneys as well as Amica, oh one last thing to Brian's credit, who in today's world does this. Yesterday the crew was here for the recent job of removing concrete landing step ( which started to fall apart during the winter) and replacing it with a granite step. We selected Steve Nicholson to complete the masonry work which included some excavation, structural concrete walls, a walkway, and stone veneer. The masonry portion of the project was about 20k and went on for weeks. A couple of weeks into the project, Steve asks me if I plan to cap the retaining walls. I obviously responded telling him I was under the assumption that a completed retaining wall would not leave beautifully veneered walls exposed with concrete filler falling out (see image). Steve then charged me an additional $800 to cap the walls. A few days later Steve asks if I plan to waterproof the wall, I told him that if it was suggested then yes. Steve gave me a price of $500 to complete the waterproofing and we agreed to waterproof the wall. Eventually we reached a point in the project that Steve needed to let the carpenter finish the stair treads before Steve could finish up the last few square feet of veneer, Steve left the job site and was slated to return in a day or two before the building inspection was expected, but Steve didn't show up. Weeks later Steve comes back to the job site. Steve had to finish the aforementioned veneer, my bottom stair, and waterproof the stonework. Steve completed the veneer but the quality was much lower then the rest of the job (see images), Steve was unhappy we progressed through the project before he finished the bottom stair. After a couple of hours, Steve informed me he was done and needed to return. He hadn't completed the bottom stair (see image), didn't properly veneer around my stair tread lights (see image), or waterproof yet but that he would be back in a few days if the weather held up. A few sunny days went by and the rest of the project had been completed weeks prior. I contacted Steve but got no answer, so I left a message but got no response. A day or two later I text Steve, I even offered to accept the $500 waterproofing refund and that I would finish the waterproofing and bottom stair myself but still no response... My carpenter reached out to Steve as he had worked with him in the past and hoped to get a response. Steve responded to the carpenter and informed him that he would not be returning. Once I heard Steve wasn't planning to return I called two more times, got no answer, and left a message. Steve let me down I trusted him to standby his work and finish the project. After several weeks of work and personally interacting with Steve everyday, he seemed like a good guy but unfortunately that's not the case. Steve stole my $500 and never completed my stairs. So the good news is my wife's dream has almost come true, now that I know Steve won't return I will finish things up myself. It's to bad I paid for a 20k headache, it looks like others have reported similar instances on this thread. OWNERS BEWARE, IF YOU LIKE YOUR MONEY DON'T GIVE IT TO STEVE! The walkway was redone with grey beacon hill flagstone concrete pavers and a boarder of charcoal concrete pavers. He repaired the brick stairway foundation and refinished it with fieldstone veneer fronts, blue granite treads, and blue mist granite pavers on the landing. To my flower beds, he added Stanstead granite cobblestone edging and retaining wall on the side by my driveway. As a nice finishing touch, he spread loam on the soil along the length of edging and walkway where the lawn had been disrupted, to prep it for us to plant grass seed. Last, but not least, he added a granite step to my shed entrance. It looks beautiful! At every step of the process, Greg was prompt, friendly, patient and informative. He's dedicated to his trade and the job on hand and he's hard-working. As I shared in my first review, he knows his trade exceptionally well, which is reflected in his work. All the bricks were pulled up and the highest standards used to reset and set brick. A cement curbing under the brick not only secured brick but provided a means for directing run off water. The brick was also power washed. (Unfortunately, other remodeling elsewhere created dust and dirt on brick afterwards but that will be hosed off.)

They complete the work efficiently and are always on time even working weekends to get the job complete. I've owned my house for 40 years, had many repair people over the years and I feel Cabral's Walls are the top. No job is too difficult for them and they find a way to get it done. My yard had no access for a excavator so they hired a crane to lift it over my wall and into my yard. Every thing went so smoothly. The price for such quality work is well worth it.

The work was done promptly and there were no surprise expenses. My issue is that just 2 years after Cabral's Walls completed the repairs, the mortar is crumbling and falling out. My check for payment was dated July 28, 2024. It is now August of 2026 and those same steps need to be redone. They also did some mortar repairs on my chimney and I'm concerned those repairs may also be failing. It doesn't matter how nice the people you deal with are and how promptly the work is done if the repair work they do is substandard and doesn't last. I'm out $1200 which I can ill afford. I would most definitely not recommend Cabral's Walls unless you don't care about the quality and durability of their work and money is no object.
