Because the result was unsatisfactory he returned and said he would "make it right"- which he did. It was not an easy task ! He tore out lining installed as it was not the best size. It was an absolutely filthy and horrible job -but he did it.He replaced the lining with one a better size for the ancient chimney, and repaired said chimney.There was no charge for this replacement !!! I made an appointment with Dan for the chimney cover and do cleaning but he went extra miles! He drove by a day before the appointment to check the chimney cap size-which I didn't know- then he emailed me to reschedule the appointment because he ordered the proper size cap for my chimney and it will be delivered after the appointment date. Dan and his crew came on time for the appointment day and they both did a wonderful job. Originally, we were scheduled to do the chimney cap only, but Dan and his crew finished the capping fast enough that he was able to finish the chimney cleaning also. I called Dan yesterday to book an appointment. He was available the next day! He also was able to provide a brief quote on the inspection cost (which was reasonable) over the phone to ensure I understood the cost up front. My wife and I recently bought our house and I told Dan I wasn't exactly sure what was wrong with our fireplace. He said no problem and that he would do an inspection. Dan showed up 10 minutes EARLY for our appointment and first took a look at our chimney and then inspected the fireplace. He said that it could use a cleaning but asked if I was interested in having it cleaned. when I said 'yes' he ran to his car and set everything up to clean it on the spot! I was expecting he might say 'let's set up another appointment' but he took care of it right away. After working on cleaning the fireplace for about 45 minutes he noticed that I needed a replacement part for the flue. He asked if I would be interested in getting a replacement part and shared the price (which was cheap.) When I said yes, he ran into his truck and grabbed the part to install right away! Again, I was expecting he may say 'let's set up another appointment.' But, he took care of it right away. After working on installing the part on my chimney and then in the fireplace, he thoroughly cleaned up and my place looked just as clean as when he arrived. Dan was shockingly responsive taking care of both the cleaning and the replacement part RIGHT AWAY when all we planned was an inspection. he was also easy going, upfront about pricing, and was an all around friendly guy. I highly recommend Dan and give him the highest rating possible! (I also called Dan after another Yelp highly rated Chimney service told me their next available appointment was 5-6 weeks out. Dan & crew replaced a chimney that looked like it was about to fall over a few weeks ago. He was the only guy who showed up to evaluate the job when he said he would. So that was encouraging. His quote wasn't the cheapest, but I had seen pictures online of his work and read reviews on here, so I was hoping it would be worth it. Now several weeks and rain storms after the job, I haven't seen any leaks and the chimney cap hasn't blow off. It still looks as good as the day he finished it - and he finished the whole chimney rebuild in one day so the quick work was appreciated. The chimney looks really sharp from the outside. However when we hired him a second time and paid half of the money up front he just left the job part way through. he left a complete mess in our yard with a part finished job that now we are trying to find someone esle to repair. He never returned phone calls or text messages even after calling daily for two weeks! he is not registered witht eh BBB or HIC. BEWARE! We purchased our home a year ago and during the inspection they pointed out to us that the top of our chimney needed repointing. Knowing NOTHING about chimneys (and the subsequent cost of repairing them), I wanted to get a handful of quotes to be sure that I was getting the right work done for a fair price. I contacted 3 businesses based mostly on Yelp reviews. They were all quite pleasant on the phone and all three offered to give me a free "external" quote. They came when I was at work and either left paperwork or followed up with a phone call or email. The quotes varied in price and the information I got about what needed to be done varied quite a bit too. I felt a bit lost and I figured I needed one more quote to tip the scale and help me decide what really needed to be done and how much it should cost. Enter, Dan Driscoll. Dan was professional, prompt and kind from the first moment I spoke with him. He insisted on finding a time to come when I was home so that he could assess both the inside and outside of the chimney (no one else had seemed to care about the inside of my chimney...this was different!). He was extremely flexible - offering times both before and after work. Dan came, climbed up his ladder (in the rain, mind you!) and assessed the outside of the chimney and then came inside, crawled into my sooty fireplace and assessed the inside. And thank god. The inside of the chimney was worse than the outside! He followed up to our appointment with information about the work to be done both on the outside and inside, and gave me insight into what he felt was more urgent and how we could break up the work if I didn't want to do it all at once. His assessment of the work to be done was far more exhaustive than any other quote I received and his prices were by far the most competitive. Plus, I actually got to meet Dan. This seems to be a rarity when it comes to chimney quotes! He walked me though everything and I was able to ask questions and see for myself what the problems were. It made me feel so much more confident that we were taking the correct path. We hired Dan without hesitation and he came a few weeks later to complete the first part of the work. He and his team were so professional, prompt and easy-going. The work they did was spectacular. We will be hiring Dan again this year to finish the second half of the work. I would never hesitate to recommend him to anyone - he goes above and beyond and the work is spectacular. Do yourself a favor and contact Dan before you make a decision about your chimney services. We called Dan Driscoll so that he could do a bunch of concrete work around our condo complex. He came out pretty quickly and gave us a quote on concrete stairs and concrete pads we needed put down for new mailboxes. He also quoted us on a number of concrete pathways in front of the rest of our buildings that were cracked and falling apart. He came back about a week later to do the stairs and pads as we discussed. The walkway work would be done about a month later. He did a great job on the stairs and the concrete pads but then we never heard from him again. We've emailed him and left multiple messages for him on his phone but he refuses to call any of us back. The work he completed was less than half of what we discussed (luckily we didn't pay him for more than he did). We are very disappointed that he didn't finish the job he set out to do and we will now have to find another concrete vendor to finish our work. read more
