We were in Culver City for another event and made a point to swing by. This location is perfect for reaching out to the very challenging region of Southern California. Definitely an oasis of peace in a place that knows very little peace. The sister's are wonderful and welcoming. The Blessed Sacrament prayer chapel is open to all and is perfect for contemplation, meditation, and silent prayer. The selection of books, gifts, religious devotionals, and media is extensive and anything you want that you cannot find on the shelves, can be special ordered. Highly recommended. No peace? I was actually looking for a book that I couldn't find online. I thought that I could ask in person. Well... The Sister who helped me was very kind. She told me that the book was out of print and a new edition is in the works. Okay! I looked around the shop and found many gifts! Besides books and CDs/DVDs, there are also rosaries, Prayer Cards, gift bags, children's items, figurines, pouches, and more! If you need a gift for a Baptism, Holy Communion, or Confirmation, this is the perfect place to shop! There's also a Chapel in the back with a nice, comfy seating area in front of it - and a statue of Saint Paul near the door. I wrote some prayer requests in the book - so, I feel like I'm getting more help! I was glad that I found this Pauline Bookstore. There are others across the USA and one in Canada. Maybe I can visit those in the future...

I love that they have early hours even on weekends for those of us still up at 7am no matter what. Going in at 8am on a Sunday and seeing others already there? *My people* They have "bar" seating along the windows for working use with bar stools. Laptop/reading seating. They have tables and one BIG table for those enjoying café purchases and for those needing back support *cough cough* me. Village Well is just such a nice place to hangout in if you love books and/or need a place to work instead of home so you don't fall asleep. I placed copies of my books there, including a recent title that had been in the store for less than six months. When I followed up, I was told there had been no recorded sales and that books are subject to removal after a period of time without activity. When I returned to the store, I noticed that much of the "local author" section appeared sparsely stocked, which raised concerns for me about how long books are kept on display and how actively they are supported. To be fair, the store did communicate that: Authors are responsible for following up on sales Shelf space is limited Books may be removed after a certain period However, I think it's important for other local authors to understand that: Placement does not guarantee visibility or promotion You may need to actively check in and market your book yourself Unsold books may be pulled without much notice If you're considering consignment, I recommend having a clear plan to promote your work and staying in regular contact with the store. Just sharing my experience so others go in with clear expectations.

When I came here, it was a little warm inside. Now that could've been because of all the people coming in post-walk but there may have been a chance the AC was having some issues. Now for your frugal auntie tip: participating in The Preoccupied's walking book club provides you with a couple Zibby's related benefits. Upon completing your walk and meeting up at Zibby's, you're rewarded with a 20% off discount at the store to be used right then and there. Lots of different kinds of brands from Mitchell and Ness to Nike and Lululemon and collaborations with Disney and Hello Kitty. Definitely can find something for anyone of all ages. Employees are really helpful - when the main line got long another manager came through and guided some of us to another register without a line which I really appreciated. They also have a Bruins Reward program now where you can earn points as well. Prices can vary and many items aren't cheap, especially branded items, so I can see that college students may find this frustrating (I saw a very cool bomber jacket for example but it was $180!). But quality is great. Closest parking in the surrounding lots on campus - try either 2 or 4 which are underground.
