This is a quaint little bookstore near one of the trendier parts of Santa Monica. I went for the first time last month, and I look forward to my next visit. Came to attend a walking book club with The Preoccupied (check them out on IG) where our walk ended here. One of the strengths of this bookstore is that they feature local authors. The author we walked with actually had her book featured at Zibby's. I like that they support local talent because LA has been through so much this year already. When I came here, it was a little warm inside. Now that could've been because of all the people coming in post-walk but there may have been a chance the AC was having some issues. Now for your frugal auntie tip: participating in The Preoccupied's walking book club provides you with a couple Zibby's related benefits. Upon completing your walk and meeting up at Zibby's, you're rewarded with a 20% off discount at the store to be used right then and there. Such a wonderful, quaint independent bookstore in Santa Monica. The staff here are so friendly and helpful with recommending books. I stopped in to grab a book for my granddaughter (9) and they had a few selections to offer once I shared with them what she likes to read. Comfortable, inviting chairs for you to sit while you ponder which book to purchase, and bibliophile gifts here for that special someone. The gift wrapping is well appreciated. Zibbys is a cool bookshop. I do not read books as much as i used to because of social media now lol. Think we can all admit that social media has kept some of us away from books. But i wanted to look inside the place anyways when we were down here. They have lots of signed books you can purchase from some of the biggest Novelsit around. They even have Authors come here and sign books very often too. Cool place, i like it. No problems at all. read more

Located off Montana Ave in Santa Monica. This is a small neighborhood bookshop. This bookshop is highly curated and an indie type of bookshop. Most of the books are for the emotions type of reading which makes this place unique from a regular bookstore. They will also have frequent events to connect with the books and authors to the readers. They do have some seating inside the small shop and basically one wall shelve of books on one side and a smaller shelve side of books across the other side with the seating in the middle. The stay are very friendly and upbeat. This place definitely makes you feel welcomed and kinda get a warm heart feeling inside. They are also dog friendly. read more

Lovely little bookshop on Montana Avenue. Books are curated by themes. I had the opportunity to do a Saturday morning children's story time and book signing there. The booksellers know their books and will give you good recommendations. They feature a section of @zibbysbooks in the front of the store; a nice selection of fiction and memoir. My new favorite bookstore on the west side! This place is designed beautifully and the perfect spot for someone seeking a curated book experience. There aren't tons of options, but it felt like a hand-selected spot, which I appreciated. The person who helped me check out was lovely and I will most certainly go back. It's also a short walk from some other great spots, like La La Land, so it makes for the perfect weekend morning. read more

I stumbled upon Zibby's Bookshop after grabbing brunch at a near by restaurant and I was so pleasantly surprised to learn that they had only been open for 3 weeks! I LOVE how it is organized, based on what you want to feel when reading, strong women, POC Authors, etc. Everyone is so friendly in there and did I mention that they have author signings and speakers multiple times a week?! I grabbed the sheet with all the info and I can't wait to stop by again for more books and author signings! Such a gem! read more

Small but packed floor-to-ceiling with a very nicely curated collection for all ages. Though small the space is very comfortable and welcoming. The young woman who assisted us was knowledgeable and really helpful--she came up with many great recommendations. The prices are extremely reasonable-no more than you'd pay on Amazon, for example. I agree with the Mean Girls review. I saw on-line that it was open until 6:00, I rushed over there to get a gift and arrived at 5:25. There was a sign on the door that said CLOSED. I looked through the door and saw two women who worked there, standing in the middle of the store with their arms crossed staring back at me. So rude. Which is what I've heard of this store. Too bad, I was so excited that Santa Monica had a bookstore, and it looked cute. From what I could see through the window, so I generously gave it one star. read more

I was very excited for a local bookstore to open in SM. When I went in to visit it felt like I entered into a set of Mean Girls. 3 young women working there that couldn't be bothered to say hello or be friendly at all. The store is adorable. Thrilled to PIECES that Santa Monica finally has another bookstore. I didn't even know this was here until I was out with my friend today, lamenting SM's lack of bookstores. She googled stores in the area, and BAM -- there was Zibby's, a couple hundred feet from where we had gotten our nails done. This gem is small but clean, cozy, and bright with a pretty good selection of books. The focus seems to be on novels, which suits me fine. I also really appreciated the way the shelves are organized: they're listed by emotional response (tremble, cry, laugh, and so on) or by curator. I thought it was a really neat way to discover new titles! I love to explore when I'm in a brick-and-mortar bookstore, so it didn't bother me that it wasn't the most intuitive system, although my friend wasn't sure about it. The staff was friendly and helpful even though they seemed pretty busy. I grabbed a couple of books, and I will definitely be back regularly because I would love for this place to stick around! read more
