"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go" - Dr. Seuss Book reader here! As technology advances, book stores are disappearing. Kindles, Audiobooks, and apps has become the new wave of reading. I still prefer a book in hand and Barnes & Noble is my first choice. Let's jump right into this review. Book stores I find to be calming and a way to relax as you stroll through the many options your imagination can explore or the knowledge your brain can acquire. Barnes & Noble in Marina Del Rey is the old Amazon store. It use to be in the shopping center up the street. This location is a great upgrade. Pros 1. Superb customer service! 2. Abundance of books. If they don't have they will order. 3. Legos, Legos, and Legos!!! Barnes & Noble have Lego Exclusives :) 4. Greeting cards, bookmarks, and journals are also sold here. 5. Free parking lot with plenty of parking. 6. Shopping center boasts others stores and eateries all within walkkng distance. 7. Clean, organized, and easy to find your genre of choice. Cons I wish we had more book stores. Personal bias here. No cons about this location. Barnes & Noble has been around since 1873, first started out of Charles Barnes home. First store opened in 1917 in New York by his son. The Barnes Family is doing something right. C'mon, grab a book.

This location is small but has a great selection. They have a great selection of woman and minority written books. If you have kids they also have a great chapter book section. Books were easy to find and staff is available to support when needed. There's a small section to sit but mainly people just sit on the floor or stand while looking over their books. The books are reasonably priced for a bookstore. Although you can find some books cheaper online. I love perusing through the books and meeting other book enthusiast. Free parking

Pleasantly impressed by the new location at the Waterside outdoor shopping center in Marina Del Rey, it is clean, fresh, well stocked and has a nice feel to it. the flow of the store allows you to wander throughout and explore all the genres of literacy and novelties. There are little sections that are created by the book shelves which give a sense of intimacy and allow you to browse quietly. every area has a chair or two to give you a moment to sit and focus or read the synopsis while deciding if the book is right for you. There's also a kids big book section in the back with kid chair cubicles, they also sell toys and games. Overall it's wonderful. Let's keep the love for reading alive. Lots of free parking along with other restaurants and shops.

Even if you visit the stores they have listed, you won't be able to find the paper. Talk to the employees there and they will explain the paper NEVER shows up. On top of that, they were very difficult to deal with and unprofessional. Despite addressing all of our concerns, they still have not processed a refund. I'm not even sure if they can be considered a legitimate company, as they are a complete joke. This is a full scam so buyer beware. Use other advertising strategies.

Wow the most out of touch newspaper around…read more Every time I pick up an issue I need to check the date to make sure nobody left the April fools copy around - from 1997. I'd like this thing to have a local scoop but it doesn't. The lead story here is the Venice freak show which had had a reality TV show for what? 3 seasons. I open it up. Ads ads some NIMBY letters to the editor, ads. Every now and then they have recommendation articles by people who I think are perfectly content at the 7/11 grab n go by how the lists turn out. I feel sufficiently less informed and have increasingly less insight into my community as I turn each page. Valuable memory space gets filled with these um fills? I hate to be brash but even the original reporting is um, underwhelming ... let me just take a picture

I contacted them and was offered 3 other locations. But now, they've disappeared from those locations, as well. I've tried contacting them by phone and via their website. But repeatedly, no one answers the phone, and they repeatedly never respond to voicemail messages. They used to, but not anymore. I know they were sold again recently, so it's starting to appear that they (like other print publications) may have stopped their printed editions in favor of just being made available online. All said, they've always had GREAT content, but WHEN or IF you can pick up a copy locally anymore. And at least either answer your phone or respond to inquiries because we've started to lose interest.

LA Weekly, I truly expected you to be more in-line with other alternative newsweekly publications…read more Instead, you seem rather superficial, just like so much other fluff in this city of angles (yes, angles). My expectations for pseudo-investigative journalism and political pieces flanked by editorials filled with foaming-at-the-mouth liberalism were so high. The Austin Chronicle puts you to shame in these departments. I'll give credit where credit is due, though. Thank you for a rather thorough concert calendar. And thank you for being free and plentiful, as well, because you'll come in handy the next time I have to move and need to wrap my dishes again.

I use the Culver City Observer to finalize my business license with the DBA filling and newspaper publication which is required by law upon setting up a new business. The Culver City Observer gives excellent and friendly service. They will also help you take care of the DBA filling at the LA County Registar office. All you have to do is just fill out the DBA form and supply a separate check for the LA County. What great service, totally saving me a trip all the way down to Norwalk and avoiding the awful experience dealing with the government employee attitude...it's not a pleasant experience just like the DMV. This is a mom and pop operation but it gets the job done and it's a great alternative to the other major newspaper. I rather support the local businesses. Note: Use the front entrance of the Barber shop and walk to the back to Culver City Observer. You can't miss it. It is also located right across the street from Tanner's Coffee on the same side of the street. Also they have changed their telephone number to: 424-835-4209.

In fact, when the writers would get paid, we would intentionally go to check cashing places to avoid screwing up our banks! That way, if the check bounced (and there was a 50/50 shot it would), at least we knew the check cashing places (and not our individual banks) would take the hit and ultimately go after the owner-operator Steve Hadland, who's also listed in some of these other reviews! Somewhat shocked that I even found them here on Yelp! What's more, the owner now doesn't even live or operate the business in Culver City, but rather runs it out of state, remotely. I guess you could say he really has his hands on things, a real boots on the ground type of guy! Yeah, right!
