Cute little ambient coffee place. I love that they have a variety of treats and food to have with your coffee. I went with the carrot cake and it was delicious. The frosting layer was so decadent and like a thick mousse. I ordered the cafe latte and it was a perfect pick me up after a long walk . Highly recommend this place. I didn't want to leave ! If I ever come back I might try the apple streusel (someone in my group got it and said it was one of the best they've had on our trip). read more

Location. Location. Location: The rule of New York real estate. Probably everywhere else. After the hour long concert upstairs, we come down to have drinks only because we've dinner reservation at Maria - on a boat by the concert hall Rudolfinum tonight. This place is probably nothing without the view. And the view is dying for. (In all fairness, the interior is very nice ... and foods look delicious.) The balcony looks out to Prague - the only draw back is onlookers would come out to the balcony and start taking pictures. I love taking pix but I won't go to a private place, such as a restaurant, squeeze between tables to take a pic - it's just rude, but plenty people just do it. Some takes a pic and leave, while a few would linger a little longer... People: pls have some manners and behave. This is NOT a public place. Our family of 3 went to the palace on top of the hill and decided to grab a morning snack to begin our day. This is how it went: Food Quality ~ Based on my order, the ingredient quality in the food was very rich and flavourful, and I could tell it was organically sourced. Service ~ The staff were very efficient and attentive and assisted us comfortably when the sun was too harsh at where we were sitting. Ambiance ~ A very calm and inviting atmosphere with modern/luxury furniture and décorum. Cleanliness ~ Not one flaw in hygienic senses and contained very clean tables. Value for Money ~ The value for these meals were definitely worth it with their large and filling portions and great pricing in relation to the quality. Overall Experience ~ We as a family of 3 thoroughly enjoyed the views and food we consumed. Very memorable and I extremely enjoyed the consistency of the cheesecake. P.S. A cute cafe/restaurant located in the palace of the same name. They have a full bar, appetizers, entrees, desserts, and coffee. It is located just down the hill from Prague Castle. It isn't necessary to pay for admission to the palace to eat or have a drink here and well worth the visit just for the view! A visit in February we thought eating on the terrace would be too cold, but there are lap blankets and patio heaters to make sitting here cozy. Our servers were super nice, and we very much enjoyed our wines, soup, and expresso for what we thought was a reasonable price with a fantastic, romantic view. read more

Popped in here for a quick snack and opted for the apple strudel. It came to the table promptly and was plated beautifully. I loved the tartness and slight crunch of the apple (I had some that were mushier, which I didn't enjoy as much), and I liked the dough component of the dish as well. Flaky, crunchy, but not a feat to eat! One thing to note, however, is this strudel cost 2x as much as the strudels around town, but perhaps it's justified b/c it's inside the museum. There is an al fresco dining area, but it was so hot that we appreciated the A/C inside. They have wifi too. To visit the restroom, you have to tell them so they can give you this pebble to hand to the attendant. read more

Perhaps my expectations were too low due to the location (in Prague Castle), but I was really blown away by this place. Both our salad and the goulash were excellent, and the view from the balcony was amazing. The lemonade was also quite good. A spontaneous trip into Lobkowicz Palace Café to warm up from the hail led to one of our tastiest meals and best views in Prague. Even though it's about 40 degrees outside, we got to enjoy a nice lunch on the terrace thanks to a heater and fleece blankets. Our lunch with tea cost about 35€ so it's not inexpensive, but a wonderful view of Prague near the palace. Pro Tips: - Even if you're not a vegetarian, try the warm lentil and beet salad. The food here is excellent and it comes with the most beautiful view of Prague city. It's located within the castle walls in the back past the church. I had a wonderful apricot crape with ginger and mint tea with lemon and orange. Everything is made well and taste great. The Quick: Who doesn't want to eat lunch in a real life castle? I cannot tell you how the food is because I just drank the wine, which I suggest you do as well. I would not order the goulash here. The dumplings were good but the sauce had an appearance and texture more like mole. The beef was tender but not well seasoned. While I had many different versions of goulash in Prague and in Budapest, this was by far my least favorite. That said, this is a great little spot to take a break and have a coffee or quick bite to eat while transiting between Prague Castle and/or St. Vitus Cathedral and Golden Lane. After visiting the gallery and listening to a concert in one of the room, it was the perfect place to end our visit to the family palace. This restaurant, the cafe, was recommended in my guidebook, so I decided to give it a try. I ordered the "GOULASH MENU" (the caps are not mine), which includes: Soup of the day Lobkowicz-style "Czech " goulash served with gnocchi Italian-style cheesecake Sounds and looks touristy, doesn't it!? To my surprise It was quite good. The soup was a creamy salmon sweet pepper bisque. The goulash was good, best yet for me, as the beef was tender and not very fatty. The sauce was good, but still quite mild, in my opinion - I'm beginning to think this is what goulash sauce is like. Although not true gnocchi, they really served houskový knedlík, or traditional Czech dumplings, which had bacon to give them a nice smoky flavor. The cheesecake was very light, not a grotesque portion (like we typically get in the USA). It had a creamy almost tiramisu-like layer on top, which was delicious. The beer was standard Czech high quality, and the espresso was a decent pull. Service was prompt and friendly, but not intrusive. I'm sure patience can run thin after serving tourists all day. The servers spoke decent English and gave me kudos for trying my 15 words of Czech. It reminded me of eating at a place like the Getty in LA or any other nice art museum restaurant. I ate outside and it was quite cold, however, they had gas heaters on and blankets for each seat so you could wrap your legs if you liked - nice touch! read more

This cafe boasts the 'best view of Prague' from the terrace and it does indeed offer a wonderful view of the city, positioned as it is high in the palace grounds. It looks like a restaurant from outside but is indeed a cafe. They serve sandwiches, wraps, salads, soups and cake (we luuuuuuurve the cake!) and is open between 10am and 6pm every day. Try the Lobkowicz Gourmet Hamburger - it's packed with goodies and you get chips on the side (or french fries as they cal them). read more

We were here last Winter and on our 1st visit, I got the tomato soup, which was a touch sweeter than I would have liked, but the tuna melt was excellent! We ended up coming back again the next day - and note that with a ticket to tour the palace, you get 10% off a meal. The second time around I ordered the roast beef and a hot chocolate. The hot chocolate was the perfect consistency, just what one needs on a cold cold day. We ducked in here to get out of the rain - tourist trap... recommend you push a little further on and there are more drink and food options. Coffee was priced on par with anywhere else but the beer was twice the cost of anywhere else and the cost of a small plate of goulash with four pieces of meat was almost the cost of a main course anywhere else. We stopped by for lunch here after touring the castle. We were lucky enough to score a table with a panoramic view of the city. The food is slightly over priced for other food in Prague, but still way lower than what you'd see in the US. Definitely worth it for the view. Service was friendly and attentive. We ordered a chicken Caesar wrap, the Mediterranean platter and an iced coffee and our total bill was $585 CZK.. about $30 USD. a charming place behind the gift store of the "Lob..." Palace. Great view of the city (in winter at least ... trees probably block view in Spring-Summer). Coffee was good, but the strudel was the best we have had. The one down side is that the entire patio is a smoking zone. read more

I ended up at the Lobkowicz Palace Cafe by accident. I had taken my family on one of the tours of Prague Castle and we were about to head down the hill. Our feet were killing us from all the walking and we were hungry, so we decided to look for a place to eat. Right at the top of the Old Castle Steps is the Lobkowicz Palace. A very understated Palace and Museum from the outside, but magnificent on the inside. I really hate all the tourist traps serving what they advertise as "Czech" cuisine, so I was really happy to see that this was a modern, simple elegant cafe. It also boasts probably the best view in Prague. You can see the entire Old Town, the river, the bridges... everything. Between the four of us, we ate quite a few different things. We had soup - the regular soup on the menu was a very good tomato soup, very hearty. I ordered the soup of the day, which was parsnip. It was excellent. Next I had the Chicken Caesar Wrap, which was really fresh and had very good greens (something really hard to find in most Prague restaurants). My wife had the Veggie Burger, which had a giant Portobello Mushroom instead of a meat patty. It looked fantastic and my wife said it was one of the best ones she'd ever had. Their desserts looked very good, so we decided to try. I'm a huge fan of Carrot Cake and I saw they had it on the menu, so I had to try... usually I'm disappointed, but still try hoping it will be good. This Carrot Cake was delicious, I was so happy I got it. My wife decided to go traditional and ordered the Apple Strudel. It was, also, excellent. What a surprise this place was. We had no intention of going and ended up having one of our favorite meals in Prague. In fact, we liked it so much we decided to take the tour of the Palace afterwards since they boasted a fairly impressive art collection and musical manuscript collection... but that's a whole different review. read more
