Please have employees control the music more evenly. Every time I come in the volume dictates how well of a visit I have. Some days the music is at a reasonable, quiet background level (although this is less frequent), most days it's so loud I can feel it piercing through my skull, leaving me almost in tears, and it doesn't help that most of the song choices are the bottom of the barrel TikTok garbage. I know they have sensory-friendly hours, but it's only once a week for a few hours, and often the rules are not followed, with employees still making the occasional page. Please keep the music low, I feel as though it's designed to punish us for our crimes against nature. read more

As someone with a disability and who doesn't drive. using the PC Express service is a great option. I moved to the southside this year so I haven't ordered from Loblaws very often, but I do have a friend who picks up my orders for me. Unlike Superstore or Save On Foods, I've never had an issue with my orders here. They're packed on time. They're accurate. And their deli products are one of the reasons I still use this location from time to time. And unlike Superstore, their phones are always open and answered. There have been many times when using PC Express with Superstore, I couldn't get anyone on the phone. Orders are also packed really well too for transport. I really enjoy going here for a quick pickup in the case I forget my lunch! The soups are my favourite, with 6-8 different varieties to choose from every day, including handfuls of crackers for every occasion I think my favourite soups so far were the chicken noodle, chicken Thai, butternut squash and beef chilli. The variety is great because it gives me a chance to pick ones I like and make them at home The soups also go good with a nice fresh pizza bun or sourdough bun - yum! What's even better is that nice cold scoop of tantalizing gelato dessert! I found the 2-scoop to last me 2 days, slow savouring the combo of manga to raspberry = divine deliciousness From what I've seen this market is kept pretty neat and tidy, and workers can be seen making fresh stuff everyday, which is well worth the price for freshness. Loooooove the concept! Underground parking = warm and dry winters! Free fruit of kids instead of cookies = happy Mommy. Fresh fruit juice bar = heaven! There are some great deals to be found if you hunt around here and the staff are pretty fabulous. I've come in at lunchtime and found this place a lot more happening. If you come in the evening half or more than half of the food stations are closed down and that was a disappointment because we brought the kidlets last week for supper. Wanted to check out the new Loblaws and came in early evening on a weeknight. The fresh food area was busy with people looking to pick something up for dinner. We didn't have dinner yet so decided to check it out too. Near the front doors is the fresh bakery of buns and breads. We made our way to the right where they have all enticing desserts including cupcakes, cakes, cookies that are self serve and some behind the counter, and nearby is a coffee shop. The self serve donut area was pretty popular with customers filled up their boxes. There are some tables outside and inside which is great to eat in. But they aren't cleaned often as most of the tables we saw were dirty. We did ask a staff person and he came to clean it for us. The tables seat 6 so people maybe sharing. We continued on and stopped at the sushi area where the Maki combo was $8 for their Thursday special. They also have Indian food, and hot food including chicken, pasta, and vegetables. It didn't look that appetizing as it looked like it was sitting under the heat lamps for the afternoon. Next was the flatbread pizza, calzones, and quiches. I got them to heat up a meat calzone for $4. There is one cash area and no line up to it was quick to pay and then snag a seat. The food wasn't restaurant quality and more like food court quality if that. I likely will stick to the desserts next time I buy something ready to eat. The produce section was tidy and there were some good deals on some items. We shopped for groceries and I noticed selection was limited and they didn't have all the products I wanted to get. The prices were comparable to other stores but not as cheap as the discount grocers (and the Shoppers close by has cheaper prices on some items) The section that must be the busiest is the chips and snacks as they were half filled. Staff are likely learning their jobs as service was a bit slow at times. I also purchased an item that was more expensive than the listed price so I'll be sure to check my receipt next time as well. read more

What a great addition to the Oliver community! This is like a small version of a "Superstore" (no pharmacy). BUT they do have a large bakery, deli and cafe. Specialty meats, produce and antipasto. They make a variety of prepped items to take home and cook. Sausages, burgers, marinated meats, stuffed chicken breasts... Kangaroo, Ostrich, Venison, Elk, Goat and lamb can be found in the meat section. Dry aged beef is also available. Chèvre with just about anything you can think of... Cheese boards prepped and ready to take home. They even carry "Untamed Feast" foraged fungi products, and Pinnochio gelato. Way to support local! It's not Sunterra, but it's nice to have nearby. My Ontario heart is SO happy to have found this grocery store! It reminds me of Fortino's & Loblaws that I grew up with. We live in the North West, but make the extra 20 mins trip here every Sunday. I could say more as I like the unusual things thr store offers, yummy meals fresh at the deli, sweet little baby chocolate croissants at the bakery, sushi, nice little salad bowls to go. All perfect for a tasty lunch. But we always come back for the coffee. I docked a mark only because the tables inside the store are not very pleasant to sit and visit at, a bit too high school..long and crammed close together. A few smaller tables would give it more of a bistro atmosphere. Loved the outdoor patio in the summer though. And they have a loyalty card. read more

Lovely layout with a real city market kinda feel. Nice to have another option for a grocery store in central edmonton. Great selection of cheese. They have a really cute section of cupcakes and other yummy bakes sweets. Also have a decent selection of ready made meals from their deli. Nice pre-made deli salads. Fresh sushi section.. in my opinion it's pretty decent for grocery store sushi and makes for a healthy quick grab and go meal. I do find there produce section to be more pricey but the do have a nice selection of both organic and regular veg. I am not really a fan of the bakery breads. I do find for PC products they are not comparable to super store prices. But for the convenient location it's not a huge deal to pay a bit more. read more

Got to check it out during it's grand opening weekend, so the crowds may be a bit more than usual. I would compare this more to a Sobey's with in house bakery and meat department. Basically a smaller but nicer Superstore. When you first walk in you may be overwhelmed with where to go first. They have an ice cream/coffee area, bakery, sushi counter and meat with a butcher. They do have a lot of ready made meals to go for those that don't have the time to cook. What I liked is that in the produce area everything was nice. The one thing I hate at the Superstore that I normally go to is that usually most of the fruits are bruised and damaged. Let's hope they can keep the qaulity up here. Things in bakery are typically about $1.99 - $3.99. Yes, most may seem a bit pricey but you get what you pay for, as everything is made in house. Plus, you may pay same or more at places like Good Earth or Duchess Bakery. Another nice thing is they have tons of underground parking with an escalator leading right into the store, so bonus during our cold winter months. Since this is part of the Superstore family, you can get and redeem PC points. There was only one issue I had here. Most of the cashiers are in training so there may be either longer lines, as well as they may not know all the procedures yet. Mine was not able to redeem my PC points for my order (the manager was there too and seemed to have problem figuring it out). But I didn't make a big deal of it and saved my points for next time. I know they are still working out kinks and having worked in a grocery store when I was younger I know it isn't easy. I wish it was closer to me, so will only make the trip once in a while when in the area. But it is nice to see more places like this opening down town, this is definitely a nice addition to have. read more

Loblaws City Market is a great place to shop as a single person or couple downtown. For a time, there was a lack of places to get groceries, so it's nice to see more options. The best part of Loblaws city market is it's grab and go area. The cooked foods are delicious, and they have plenty of variety of pre-made foods that you can take home and cook at home. They have an extensive bakery that has delicious cakes and small sweets for every taste. The downfall is that because it is smaller, there is less selection for center aisle items (canned/dry goods), but there is a good selection of fresh foods. Esthetic is clean, with warm colours that make it inviting. read more

I'm so glad this isn't my local grocery store. While relatively clean and filled with decent signage, I find the layout here confusing. There is no usual "shop the perimeter" feel for bakery, produce, etc. It reminds me of the Sobeys Urban Market that used to be on Jasper Avenue (which was frequented by downtown workers), but this is in the middle of a more residential area, so imagine that store with carts trying to edge through. Most frustratingly, I find the meat section to be disproportionate to the rest of the store (you feel like you have to walk through to forever, especially if you have no need for it) and the prices of nearly everything are higher than at the Kingsway Superstore 5min away. (For example, a bulk pack of No Name frozen burritos my husband brings for lunch are $4 more at this location.) I've even found I can't purchase in-store items from the bakery here, as cakes and other pastries were stickered with the price, but no ingredients. As someone with allergies, it's a pretty alarming misstep. read more

Annoying bumpers on all the permanent displays will have you frothing at the mouth while they snag the wheels of your cart continously while you navigate the tight aisles. I just walked out. I've always loved this grocery store. It has a very modern European feel to it. Complete with barista and multiple vendors inside the market. You can grab sushi (the sushi is not the best but it's what you can expect from a made to-go sushi bar) or dinner to go (most of their pre made dinners are delicious and a very reasonable price) there is even a nicely laid out sitting area to stay and eat. There is a microwave and plastic cutlery provided. The layout is modern and very eye pleasing. During the summer they have a lovely patio you can sit at as well as a place to lock up your bikes. It is well patrolled by security and kept very clean. Today I discovered that every Monday and every Friday from 9-5 there is a nutritionist on site. She made a bunch of delicious and healthy samples you can try and she has the recipe to hand out. I've always loved this market and it seems like I'm still finding little treasures that make it better and better. -I'm back every week. Love this place. read more

What a fun place to visit! Besides the regular groceries, there are all sorts of specialty items you won't find at Superstore that make it worth browsing the aisles. The deli section has tons of choices, lots of hot entrees, all at reasonable prices for a nice lunch (seating provided) or take-home. You CANNOT miss the bakery section - holy cow, I've never seen such a variety of deliciousness. Check out the petit fours, miniature tiny tiny tiny cupcakes and pie slices - also monster cupcakes and cakes that will make you drool. My heart cried out for the caramel brownie cheesecake but my pesky sensible side resisted. And just in case you're a fan of candied ginger like I am, let me promise you the freshest I've ever tasted in my life can be found here, near the front, along with every other "bulk type" product nicely packaged in resealable containers. The underground parking - free- will keep your feet warm and dry in the winter. Escalators (and an elevator) and cartveyors make it easy. Winners is a floor above for even more shopping. Since I don't live nearby, this will be a "treat" place to visit when craving something special, but it's super cool and worth the drive. read more

I like how they have a nice cafe with fresh unique treats and a nice patio. I also like how there is lots of parking( underground parking available) and the shopping carts are free. I have to say I'm pretty impressed! From the looks of this place, inside and out, I expected it to be pricier. It appears to be a higher quality Superstore kind of thing. Lots of President's Choice. I LOVED the bakery counter! Beautiful to behold. I loved the variety of sushi and hot foods. Being a former meatcutter, I had to check out the meat department. I'm pleasantly surprised to find a good variety at affordable prices. I get the impression that this is where you go to get higher end product at lower prices. Staff are polite and helpful, and I like the underground parking idea. But as another Yelper mentioned, I would've liked to have seen more lunch tables, and I would have liked them to be clean. read more

I had been meaning to swing by Loblaws since it opened. I'm a fan of deli bars and I'd heard this one was particularly good. They weren't wrong! The olive station was my favourite. I bought a nice variety of olives, crusty bread and pate for a speedy lunch, after a morning at the swimming pool. We were hungry so also decided to try out the mac n cheese crostini's that are made in store and were ready to go. I wouldn't do my regular shopping here as it's pretty pricy but it's super nice and has a wonderful selection (of olives). Great for those fancy items or a treat to yourself. If I worked nearby, I'd be in here for my lunch most days. Lovely fresh produce that's beautifully displayed. I'll definitely be back because I want to try out the juice bar so bad!!! read more

You GUYS! This place is amaaaaaazing. I've heard lots of great things about Loblaws and lucky for me, I now drive by it to get to my new job. It has a really cool vibe when you first walk in- different from any grocery store I've ever been in. I am so crazy about all their fresh, ready-to-eat food. They have a wicked sushi section that actually lists the calorie content on each box (whaaaaat?) They also have a pizza/panini section, lots of "throw in the oven" meals, hot rotisserie chickens, a dessert bar (get the cookie monster cupcake!) and, my favourite, a JUICE BAR. I never touch my juicer anymore because its more convenient and actually reasonably priced to just by the juice here. I hear a lot of complaints that Loblaws is overpriced, but I have to entirely disagree. We live in a neighbourhood where we have to drive to several big box stores to get all the things we need, and Loblaws wasn't noticeably more expensive than any of them. They are also located in a great area with plenty of other stores and restaurants to check out, and I've never had an issue parking, although they do have free underground parking. I have been shopping here for quite some time and always have a pleasant experience. On my last shopping trip I was appaled with my cashier no greeting no smile. She proceeded to ask my if this was online purchase I said no confused because I was never asked this before! Half was through my purchases the cashier ask if she should stop as my total was nearing 200 dollars how embarrassing and rude!!!! You don't think I can afford my food?! Just very rude how did you get this job? The fellow behind me after asked pay 10 cash and the rest debit she said no we don't do that here needless to say he left very angry! I was really impressed when they first opened - decent sushi, nice deli meats selection, EXCELLENT cheese fridge.i recall they had a jazz quartet at their grand opening. They've continued to be my main grocery store mostly due to proximity, their selection and some excellent sales. On certain items I've found they have the best prices like frozen pizzas and mixed nuts. There are plenty of problems though, most of which seems to be that they try to offer a specialty grocery type of experience, while running it like a regular Superstore. The hot food like the fried chicken and sides always seem to be sold out or old, & dried up. The sandwiches have only ever been okay. My main issue is the deli - three times I've got improperly cut meat that I couldn't even eat when I got home. (Seriously, don't ever order prosciutto at the deli.) I've also had numerous times when things have been labeled wrong or I've been rung-up wrong, more frequently than you would a normal Superstore. The place is also set up in a (deliberately?) confusing way - I still find myself searching around for relatively commonplace things. There are also some strange omissions from inventory including some frustrating package size issues, likely related to the limited space. Overall though this place does have a strong staff and they have enough things going for them to keep me coming back week after week, despite some of my frustrations. & Shouts out to them for supporting local/regional companies line Pinocchio & Fiasco. Its four days before Christmas they jacked the prices on everything so high that I paid $10 more on the groceries. Loblaw's has a very Waitrose like feel to it (Waitrose is a sort of boutique food store in the U.K.), with a lot of great food available in the deli. On one hand, I love the Lowlaws City Market because it's near me and convenient. On the other, the selection can be a little meh, and it's no substitute for a 'regular' grocery store like Safeway or Superstore. A few people have commented on the parking woes - I haven't found it to be bad. Keep in mind that there is abundant underground parking (with an escalator up) as well as the small above-ground lot. I only really come here to grab ready-to-eat/cook items and fruits/veggies. They have wayyy more fresh, local produce than any other grocer in the downtown core, for reasonable prices. A lot of their ready-to-cook items like pizza's are also great prices and are quite good. My biggest qualm is that they're ALWAYS out of what you're looking for. I've seen their in-house guacamole twice (once on opening day, and once when they were making it so I decided to stick around to grab some) - it's never just available on the shelves. Even their ready-made pizza's, etc. are usually out of stock. I thought they would work out the kinks since they've been open a month or so now, but they really don't seem capable of keeping up with demand. My other big qualm is that their sneeze-guards are useless. I would never ever buy buns or olives (or other items behind sneeze guards from here) - the plastic is at about my (adult) head height. Anybody can easily breath/sneeze/cough, etc. into all of those foods. The buns are also sitting out in baskets - don't they get dry? I have no idea how those things passed any sort of health inspection. In terms of their regular grocery offerings, yes, it's more expensive than more. That said, there are a few deals to be had, and if you just need an item or 2 for dinner that night, it's nice to have another option to go to. They do also have quite a few local items that I've otherwise only been able to find in organic specialty grocers (Fiasco gelato!). read more

Went this am to buy some food including grapes. The grapes price was wrong and service attendant just said "grape are usually expensive". After insisting to check the price, it was indeed wrong on the system. Then she was completely clueless on how to correct it and could not figure out the conversion from lbs to Kg price. They should train their employees better. In Qc, if the price is wrong at the cashier, items less than 10$ are free to account for the inconvenience. This middle aged employee couldn't even just enter the confirmed price/weight and go on with the transaction. Terrible experience and such poor service. read more
