Good place for seafood [CORON, PALAWAN Philippines] I don't usually eat 3 full meals a day plus snacking in between (we call it "'merienda") but it's so hard to be disciplined on a diet when surrounded by good food. This is another seafood place we dined in that is closer to our hotel resort. We ordered mostly seafood items here. We picked a couple of live mud crabs from their tank and chose the butter garlic flavor and steamed with garlic. We also ordered pork BBQ, lechon kawali (deep-fried pork belly), nilaga (a comfort food which is stew w/ meat and veggies), and calamansi juice all around. Mom was having a feast the most... she loves crabs. Everything was good. Service was better here as the waiter checked on us during our entire meal. First off all, the service is too slow like super slow. We ended up canceling our two orders due to they r so slow we were almost done the last two order are still not served. Mind you we were the second guest to arrive the first guest they were just two people. We waited atleast 30mins for the first dish to be served then 5-10mins waiting for the next. Second, The lady server was 0 customer service she looks so pissed serving us, the moment we arrived. She said the platter were 2-3people serving, but in reality its just 1-2 person per plate. Lastly, the Most "Scam" why? We ordered 3 plates of shrimps, it was mostly Head Shrimps the number of head shrimps and the number of shrimp tail are not equal. like 12 heads I counted but only 6pcs of tails.! the worst part they gave us 2 plates and the server said, the cooked mistakenly combined the 2plates order in one plate. So thats already total of 3. We felt scammed like they have the same amount. What was our assurance for their statement. That was over for us. We did not argue we just want to finish our food and leave. For all the tourists visiting, Beware! we Highly NOT RECOMMEND this place! 2nd time around, still needing to flag down staff since no one is assigned to tables, staff don't communicate. Live band playing was great except it was so loud you couldn't even hear the person sitting in front of you. Since last time they finished remodeling and now have a bar, which you can't sit at but alcohol is display. STAFF DO NOT COMMUNICATE - bar only know what's going on there, waitress has no idea what is going on with our orders or the kitchen! Nor did they know what they had on hand or if things were available. Yes this place is known but - why bother? I guess only if you're going for lobster but there are many other places that will do better. Ordered a large amount of food: Food came out in the most random order soups, oysters, noodles and Shanghai near the end of dinner way through our meal the rice came after having to be flagged down 2x and still not bringing the correct order. Oysters were dry and grilled to dried tidbits, with only calamansi since we didn't want cheese. Beef steak - I have never had beefsteak that tasted like chocolate and banana ketchup. I had to spit it out. Sizzling pusit - never came out the waitress said we didn't order it when it was written on the order tab they they whited out Calamares - didn't come out and they again denied it and whited it out on the order receipt Kinilaw was good, very citrusy and didn't taste fishy. Clam soup mediocre and luke warm Garlic butter shrimp was overcooked. Sinigang mainly consisted of fat and was luke warm did not have enough tamarind base to even call it sinigang. Lobster king seafood resto bar was recommended by our hotel on our first night on the island of Coron, Palawan. The place is a typical provincial restaurant, with nothing noteworthy about the ambiance or motif but outside the restaurant, they have a large aquarium with sizeable sea creatures in captivity. They were so busy when we visited that I had to hail staff to get our orders going. For a party of two, we decided to delve into deep-fried grouper, crispy calamari for an appetizer, and shrimp on tamarind soup dish. The dishes are freshly made and we were pleased with the price point. They offered fresh lobsters and crabs if you are all for it. Overall this place is a no-frill, no-hassle restaurant. Oh wow Im shocked to see how low the ratings were for this bc I thought the food was good. A bit pricey though. The service was okay but we did have to call them a bunch for items. The fresh buko was good but the meat inside was tough. The lobster & crab were delicious - they cook it how you want. It's really fresh. There weren't many lobsters in the tank because of the gale and winds in the sea. Then, along came in a man with a fresh catch of lobsters . It got me excited to see them come in and they're literally still strong and actively moving! I got introduced to the other types of lobsters as well. I haven't tasted seaweed salad from the Philippine sea in such a long time. Really way better than the seaweeds they serve in Japanese restaurants! The sotanghan soup is a large batch of soup but it doesn't have the taste of sotanghan soup I'm used to. No black mushroom (tenga ng daga), no fish sauce taste. read more

This place will be recommended by the locals if you ask for seafood. It was a pretty busy place, but also pretty pricey compared to the other places we've visited. There are a lot of tourist here, and a various choices to cook the different seafood you choose. It's worth to try, but the wait is long. And make sure to bring your own napkins. Not sure why there are so many negative reviews. Coming from America where really good quality food is expensive as all hell, you will spend well over $100.00 for a decent meal and not very much food and compared to a lot of seafood restaurants here in America the seafood here local and pretty damn fresh!! From what were told none of the seafood is "imported" which is a big deal! Yes I do 1000000% agree the service is slow as hell and definitely not a 5 start restaurant but when we went the place was super packed! Plus the food and price you pay for is no way near comparable to what you will pay for in America. $50.00 US dollars will go a very long way for just 2 people to have dinner here, pretty much a damn feast!! I didn't get to take pictures of all that we ordered since my phone died. I was able to take a photo of their cucumber salad which was really good! We ordered 4 different seafood dishes, 3 different sides, a total of 6 smoothies with 3 for each of us since the glasses were tiny so you can't just have 1! With all that food the total was less than $30!! That is unheard of here in America! So yes I will give this place 5 stars! Love the food here! The ventilation is a bit whack but they can fix it by turning on the vents! I loved the crabs and crocodile sisig. If your in coron and your not sure where to eat this is your best bet. Places was packed with locals and tourist. The shrimp tempura was lightly fried and had good flavor. The steamed lobster had to much garlic on top but was very fresh and wish we ordered a bigger size. Make sure to get a mango shake or you will be missing out. Worst restaurant of my life! I was staying in a hotel up the street. It was recommended by the staff. Arriving in the rain. I waited a bit and was shown a seat. The table was not clean. I asked for a menu and was given one. I then ordered a Coke. It did not arrive. After asking a couple more times someone brought me a Coke. I kept waiting to place my order and finally bedded a waitress to get my order. the staff just runs around without doing anything. The toilet was foul. They claim that everything was fresh, but they had frozen fish in the front that was not even cleaned before freezing, and had flies frozen to them. I was near the kitchen and I could see the kitchen was not too clean. I never received my order and after drinking 2 sodas, and 40-45 min later I left. I asked the waitress for the check and she never gave it to me. I manage to get the attention of someone else and paid her. She had no idea how much 2 sodas were and had to ask. Upon leaving I discovered someone stole my umbrella. It was not my umbrella, it was the property of the hotel I stay at and I was charged 250 pesos for the lost umbrella. I went next door and had sisig which arrived fast and the place was clean. Please do not go there if you value your health. It is not clean and the service is horrible.
