**BEWARE -- Extremely disappointing and frustrating experience with Local Garage Doors of Sacramento.** I feel ripped off! I called this company because the spring on my garage door was broken. My garage door opener was working perfectly fine. The opener was not the reason I called them, and there was no issue with it before their technician performed the repair. They replaced the springs and charged me approximately **$950** (well above market price). Afterward, the technician told me I needed to replace my garage door opener because, according to him, the gears weren't strong enough to lift the door. Things got even more concerning when they sent another technician out. The second technician said the problem was that the spring had not been tightened properly and the door wasn't balanced correctly. In other words, the explanation from the second technician was completely different from what I had been told originally. Now I'm being told that my garage door won't go down because the gears in the opener are stripped, and I'm being told I need to purchase an entirely new opener. Let's be clear about what happened: I called because of a broken spring. I paid this company **$950 to replace the springs**. My garage door opener was functioning before they worked on the door. After their work, the door was not operating properly, their technicians gave me conflicting explanations, and I'm now being told that I need to replace the opener too. At a minimum, I expect a company to stand behind its work and provide a consistent, technically sound explanation of what went wrong. Instead, I've received different diagnoses. I'm pursuing the appropriate avenues to have this matter reviewed, including contacting the appropriate California licensing/regulatory authorities if necessary. What a joke. The $49 Lube & Tune plus 31 point safety inspection was a ruse to get the service guy out to the house and try to upsale me on a not needed $400+ roller replacement. When I declined he sprayed the door hinge points with the same lubricant I use and said the rest looks good. How would he know? The technician Michael Guthrie did nothing else. However, the invoice says he did the full service as the coupon indicates. I was in the garage the whole time except to get my CC and Mr. Guthrie did not lube the chain or conduct the 31 point safety inspection, including tightening and adjustments all services previous companies have done. The attached coupon explains the $49 service as 31 Point inspection (what 31 points are inspected?), Lubrication, Tightening and Adjustment. At no time was the chain lubricated as indicated in the invoice. Sal showed up on time and did a great job! Very patiently answered all my questions, guy knows his craft. Pleasant to talk to. We moved in 2 years ago and while the door always worked it sounded like a train wreck each time we used it, banging and clunking. Sal identified the issues and spent lots of time dialing it in. Upgraded to a new dual spring setup, nylon door rollers in place of the chipped plastic ones, and new drums as the old ones were hammered. He noted the original 23 yo opener was a good brand and working flawlessly so no need to replace it, and same with the actual door. Now it runs sooo smooth and quiet. I called around 9AM and they had a service guy out by 2PM the same day! Michael was our tech and he was great! Short version: Based on my experience I cannot recommend Local Garage Doors to install your fullview/glass garage door. I ended up giving them 2 stars instead of one, only because the install techs that came on the last day seemed to understand what they were doing and acted with professionalism. Having to come out 4 times just to get the panels installed in the correct order and direction is unacceptable, that with the inability for the initial tech to be on time (or just letting me know he's running late) makes me question the integrity and qualifications of this company as a whole. I have included the full details of this ordeal below. Detailed version: Based on all the reviews on google and yelp, I contacted Local Garage Doors (LGD) to get an estimate on replacing my existing garage door with a glass/full view door. They set up an appointment for me on Fri Feb 27 between 9am and noon. I took the morning off so I could meet with the estimator. By 1pm, no one had shown up nor had I been notified that they were running later, I contacted LGD and they then informed me that the person was running late. The person finally showed up at 1:40pm. He said sorry he was late and should probably have called.  He did a quick survey of the site and told me I had a couple of options and that they would provide estimates. LGD provided me with a couple of estimates pretty quickly that weekend. They were competitive in price and after a quick discussion they actually came in lower, so I decided to go with them. At first I was a bit concerned that they wanted 50% down as they said this was a custom order (it is stated in the contract), but then they told me the warehouse had them in stock and could install right away, so we set up a install day for Sat March 7th between 9am and noon again. Come Saturday morning, I contacted the installer at 9:50 to get an ETA as I needed to take dogs out on a walk before it got too hot. He responded saying that he was still in route and still needed to pick up the door from the warehouse but would keep me updated . By 12:15pm I contacted him and asked for an update, he said the warehouse was staging (?) the door and would be there shortly and that it would take about 3 hours to install. Installer showed up at ~1:20pm (without the door and said that another person would be bringing it). However, he had not actually measured my door opening on the estimate day and it turns out that the door ordered  (16') was too large for my opening (15'8")!  After much apologizing about this and that, he tried to come up with a solution where they would have to cut out a bit of my stem wall to move out the tracks in order to install the 16" door. I was concerned that the stiles or windows on the outside would be hidden , but later he confirmed with the warehouse  that it would work fine and that the windows would not be cut off and that it would look normal. Pretty much shot most of my Saturday waiting around for no reason and now I needed to reschedule the install  As I had already turned down the other companies that had provided estimates, I agreed to this and we ended up setting up a new install for Tue Mar 10th between 9am and 12pm. I contacted the front office to make sure that the installer showed up at 9am as I really did not want to take yet another full day off. I was told that they would inform the installer of the arrival time window of 9am-12pm, so basically I had to block the whole day as I did not know when they would arrive. Come Tuesday, the installer and a helper arrived during the install window at ~9:40am. They spent the morning adjusting the opening and installing the door and fished about 130pm. Install looked ok, but I knew I would need to remove the stops on the garage door frame in order to balance the door's outer stiles reveal and clean up after them as they "forgot" their vacuum (though mine was right there in the garage). I did end up paying off the remaining balance of the door to LGD just to get this process over with (mistake on my part). Next day I removed the stops on the door frame and painted everything, It looked much more balanced, but something was still off. When cleaning up everything (door was filthy, lots of dust from them sawing the stem wall, overspray on the frosted parts of the glass with the lubricants) I realized that they had installed the bottom panel inside out. In the morning you can clearly see the top 3 panels reflecting the neighborhood with the morning sun, but the bottom panel was not-reflective. Turns out the top 3 panels had the unfrosted side of the glass on the outside, whereas the bottom panel had it on the inside. Now this is not an easy fix as they cannot just flip the panel since they drilled into the back to attach the hinges. I reached out to LGD with photo evidence and they scheduled a different installer (at my request) to review for Fri Mar 13th between 8am-10 Update: response sums it up, they don't care read more

The service you get completely depends on technician you get. I have used these guys in the past and was satisfied with service. A garage door at a rental broke and came off track. The technician charged $689 just to get the door closed labor only no parts. This was only one hour of work for one guy. They then charged $3,194 for a 7 foot tall standard 2 car garage door. I stated that seems expensive and the technician stated its a two man job. When I got the estimate via e-mail, that I had to call the office to get, it stated the tracks are not included. I called the office and said if tracks are not included at that price cancel the contract. Suddenly they had the business owner's approval to include at no cost. The same guy showed up and installed the door in 2 hours by himself. This was a rental property and an emergency job. Beware of scams from this company. My home warranty company hired them to fix a spring on my garage door. They did a good job and were very responsive. Now the scam: 3 months later I get a text that says "our tech indicated within his report during our last site visit that your operator did not pass inspection". They then sent me a link to view a generic report that gave generic reasons why my garage door "operator" failed an inspection that never took place and was never requested. At the time of the repair, no one mentioned any issues with my garage door opener/operator. Basically months later, they are trying to sell me a new garage door opener using fear tactics.
