Overall, it was a good experience. I felt our instruction was detailed between explaining the why behind steps and demonstrating. We got a lesson in knife skills that was cool. Dishes made: -Paella (chicken and a meatless version for our vegans) -Tortilla chips -Pico de gallo -Guacamole -Sangria My only con was that we started late (more than 20 mins) so there was a lot of waiting around at first. I undetstsnd things can happen which is why thebexprrienfe was overall fun and positive. Once we got going, the pace stayed at a steady flow and we were not rushed out at the end. Would recommend if you're in the Atlanta area. The next group after us was also a corporate event, so I'd say the setup works particularly well for that (groups less than 15).

Our instructor was so entertaining, southern, and sassy (his words lol). He was really patient with some of the people in our group who weren't as experienced in the kitchen and gave tons of tips along the way. I'm not sure it was relaxing haha, but a group of 20 making pasta and sauce from scratch is almost guaranteed to be a chaotic good time. I recommend this for work teams, families who want a group activity, couples, friend groups, or even solo. I'd love to go back and try another cuisine class - there are so many to choose from! Plus there's a drag brunch option that our instructor teaches, which is probably really fun too.

My friends and I love to spend time together baking whatever, really, and they had some experience working with Sarah on other things - biscuits, breads, etc. So when we found out she had moved to this, we signed up immediately! Signing up had a couple of issues, but luckily Lyn as very responsive via email and we got everything straightened out - kudos to her. The space is set up well, but could use a few things - especially for pie making. A larger fridge, primarily. The little wine-sized fridge just could not keep our pie doughs cold enough for the heat of summer and manage the number of times it was opened and closed as we put things in it. Also, the number of stainless steel tables could not manage the 13 people (it was supposed to be 12) - 8 to 10 really needed to be the max. We were elbow to elbow trying to roll out dough and sharing rolling pins, pastry cutters, etc. Not ideal. Sarah rolled with the punches (pun intended) and we somehow managed to get the pies and galettes knocked out. Baking became the real challenge as the oven space and sizes of pies varied a bit - so luckily we were in the middle of the Curb market, so I shopped for my dinner. Bring your own containers for taking things home - they don't really have anything for you to take stuff out in. By the time my stuff was done, there was not a single bag, sleeve, or anything left for me to put my hot pie into. I'll remember this for next time and bring my own boxes, bags, or whatever based on what I sign up for. Sarah was amazing - she managed the class with ease and explained every step of each process - the whys as well as the whats. I felt as if I understood why my doughs have never worked out and what couple of things I could change in the future to make this process easier. Thanks Sarah for the help in making my pies a future success.

There was a lot of love for the burger sliders, chicken tenders, and shrimp. The servers were so helpful, friendly, and joyful during and before event. There were even three chefs, one of them a head chef, actually in attendance making food at the party. After the party, I found out that DeSilva even made a lot of custom orders for the party guests. Positive critique from the party attendees was that some of the food was cut too large to eat in one bite and they were not served with silverware such as the salmon shooters. The negatives: the owner missed her appointment to view our space, then showed up late to the reschedule appointment, and showed up at the start of the party. The owner's response was that she was bringing the hot food and wanted to show up as close to the party start as possible to keep the hot food hot. Showing up at the start of the party did not give us time to inform her of a few changes we made. We had purchased additional food to serve as sides to their passed hors d' oeuvres because there was lot of concern from our HQ the closer we got to the party about alcohol consumption, and concern from our employees about being full. We were going to put this out ourselves but the chefs from the caterer insisted that they would put the food out for us. I don't want to really go into it, but they put our food out so late and in such a small quantity that I feel like it was a power move by the chef to make sure their food received a spotlight. We should have served our sides ourselves as planned because our people love that type of stuff. There was a lot of waste. Part of our event package was pre-packaged to-go boxes for our guests which were to include cupcakes and macaroons. We received 150 cupcakes which received mixed reviews, some extremely good and some not, but no macaroons. We do appreciate the owner attempting to make it right by bringing fresh macaroons for our holiday lunch (arrived after the lunch) but we only received 47 boxes with two macaroons in each. Our headcount for the party was 150 people, the owner's response when asked if there were 150 macaroons was "I didn't know how many people you have". Also, one box of 2 was missing, and one box only had 1 macaroon in it. I don't think the desserts were worth $3k. The most aggravating issue was that we were charged $500 for cleanup and breakdown and the catering company did not clean up. They brought a grease fryer to cook the food and did not clean up the greasy floors that were caused by using the appliance, 10 over-full trash bags were left leaking all over the floor, the food that was dropped during preparation wasn't attempted to be picked up. They somehow used up all of our cleaning supplies without actually cleaning. The owner's response was that she was told (by someone who was not their point of contact) not to worry about cleaning and that we have a cleaning crew that would come clean the following day. They had been using this person as a point of contact instead of calling me because they "saw I was having a good time". I did not get to join the party until after 8pm, even then I was available to all of our vendors the entire time. She also said that she didn't know if there was a mop. Any of us could have provided this. The catering team was gone within an hour of the party ending. Leaving without telling me even though they did see me to ask me if I liked their cupcake. My team had to come in and clean the filthy nightmare that they left the next day. So in the end, would I recommend DeSilva's Kitchen? Yes, but with caution. The food and service was great, and your guests will enjoy them. However, you may be incredibly frustrated behind-the-scenes.
