Super delicious down home creamy fresh nothing fancy just perfect ice cream. Yup, walk up pick from a dozen or so not exotic but all the basics flavors, served by staff with hair coverings in wax coated cups or sugar cones. they also offer several sorbet flavors if that is your preference. And the spoons are biodegradable and recyclable right there... My cookies and cream was amazingly good. So they close early and as the place is owned and run by someone who has a life outside of ice cream (a summer passion) - enjoy it while you can before the world is only crappy chain stores. read more

This little spot is FABULOUS. We discovered it by chance while looking for MINT a driveway away, on our 40 minute drive to pick up birthday takeout We commiserated about the "neighborhood" Ice cream vendor in the opposite direction and how short our time was and there was the sign!! HomeMade Ice cream; but HERES THE KICKER: our hosts are vegan! And she, the lovely owner, I cream make/teacher, had at least 7 different flavors. My bro chose cookies and cream, I chose pineapple coconut and they were both amazing! Creamy and delicious. Good thing it's not around the corner! She packed out pints for the drive back. I highly recommend this worthy as a destination stop or a pick up spot for a pint or 2 on the way to Tanglewood. Pints are frozen rock solid so it would make a great addition to your picnic. I recommend Lee Local Scooped ice cream to EVERYONE I talk to when they're even considering going to the Berkshires! It's by far the best ice cream in the county, and it's close to Tanglewood! Definitely get a cone, you will fit more ice cream on top of it than in a cup. Really original flavors, always delicious, and the family who owns it are always SO nice, friendly, and helpful! But seriously, 6 out of 5 stars, best ice cream I've EVER had (since Berkshire ice cream went out of business)! It really is freshly homemade (despite other reviews)! I highly recommend the chai latte flavor! The Pop Shop is also really cool, great novelty items and fun to take pictures there. There is also a small playground and giant - chess set in the adjoining yard for kids and adults to play. AMAZING ice cream, my absolute favorite, so much better than any other place in area. read more

Have to try the Coffee and Oreo ice cream. They are so good. Perfect for a mid afternoon pick me up. Although there isn't an indoor area there are benches and a small park nearby. Ample parking and reasonable priced. Had me dreaming about ice cream all night! read more

My husband and I stopped here on National Ice Cream Day as we drove back from Upstate NY to Boston. Upon reading other reviews on Yelp he ordered the Coffee-Oreo and I ordered the Kaluah Fudge, the newest homemade flavor. The selection is small and they offered your basic vanilla, chocolate and strawberry as well as other staples like chocolate mint, maple pecan, pistachio etc. The owner, Paula came out and introduced herself, very sweet and chatty. A School teacher during the school year who makes/sells ice cream during the summer months . The ice cream is very creamy. It was the perfect pit stop on our ride home. We passed two different ice cream shops along the way and I'm glad we did! I highly recommend! read more

Drove by during their posted hours but they weren't open. I called them and the lady answered and gave me some weird story about how they're open normal hours on the weekends and not open on Mondays (it was a Wednesday mind you) and open regular hours after Memorial Day (we came on June 12th). Meh it was ok. Priced just as high as any ice cream shop but instead of a styrofoam dish with a decent serving size , it was packed into a small Dixie cup . I also think the term "homemade" is used a little loosely. Coconut Almond Fudge was basically just vanilla ice cream with Hershey's syrup and coconut thrown in. So basically I could have "made" that at home. I also didn't realize it was on such a busy road. So it's filled with noisy traffic whizzing by. The people were nice, so there's that. read more

The most delicious ice cream in the Berkshires. Made in small batches, the flavors, texture (super creamy) and kitschy store that's adjacent all add to the experience. Even with curbside only pickup right now, you'll be thrilled. Try the coffee Oreo and the mint chip, delicious. read more

We drive by this place a few times, intrigued by the giant chess board and the waving grizzly bear. Finally - we went in. First we went to the "Pop Shop" next door & looked at all the memorabilia & then headed over for ice cream So glad we did. My wife and I tried Scooped after discovering the Retro Pop Shop next door. Scooped and Retro Pop Shop are a wife-husband pair of businesses. Scooped is absolutely wonderful! The ice cream was delicious- I had pistachio and my wife had chocolate. I often try pistachio when it is on the menu, but results are mixed- yet I'm always hoping for a great experience. The Scooped pistachio was among the best I've had. There were many large and tasty pistachios and the base ice cream was great and creamy. My wife's chocolate was rich and flavorful. An added plus- the owner was very pleasant. If we lived nearby, this would be a favorite and frequent haunt. Highly recommended! read more

I had dairy free raspberry sorbet, which was not made there. But it was delicious. The people I was with got cones of Parent Trap and Cookies and Cream. They both had SERIOUS amounts of Oreos in their ice cream. I'm lactose intolerant, hence I went with the sorbet. It seemed creamy (as opposed to icy) and had chunks of frozen berries in it. I've lived in the Berkshires for over a decade, and I never knew this place existed! Thank goodness for a friend who treated me to the richest, creamiest ice cream I've had in ages. I had a cup of the m&m. There were plenty of mini m&ms mixed into delicious vanilla ice cream. My friend had strawberry (with chunks of real strawberries) in a waffle cone, which she raved about. Delicious homemade ice cream and the nicest people!! I stop with my kids at Local-Lee Scooped every time we're in Lenox, and it's definitely one of our favorite parts of the trip. This is a roadside mom-and-pop operation, with nice shady picnic tables and chairs, and a cool retro memorabilia shop to browse through. But the ice cream is what draws us back every time: my kids make their way through the many chocolate variations and I go for the yummy sorbets. The lady who makes the ice cream just couldn't be nicer - she even gave my dog a scoop of vanilla on the house. A lot of food places put on a homemade façade but this is the genuine thing. Great ice cream! Randomly stopped here on the way from Rhode Island to NY. It was a hot day and we wanted ice cream, and I saw the good reviews plus it's close off the highway. There's a retro shop connected, which was really cool to walk through. A nice little break from the road. The owner of the shop was super friendly and welcoming. Then we walked over to get ice cream and his wife was serving us, who was also incredibly nice. The ice cream is homemade and delicious. I got the pistachio which had tons of large rough chopped pistachios, not the fake green kind. And my husband and brother in law had the coffee Oreo which they both raved about. Would definitely stop again if we're ever looking for a treat in that area! read more

Specialties

Local-Lee Scooped is a family run and owned homemade ice cream shop. We make various flavors, so our part of our menu is constantly changing unique flavors, while the remainder of the menu is constant. The only flavors we do not make are our no sugar added flavors as well as our non dairy sorbet flavor.

History

Established in 2010.

We opened our ice cream shop July 31, 2010. We Started with 6 homemade flavors, two soft serve flavors, novelty ice creams, and bottled and canned drinks. We now only sell our homemade ice cream (with the exception of the non dairy and no sugar added ice creams), and bottled drinks. We have 14-15 homemade flavors on the board each day. Eight of our flavors are a constant, while 4-5 change almost daily. We do not make sundaes. We keep it simple. We sell floats, and hand packed pints, as well as gift certificates. Trying to be earth friendly, we sell our ice cream in paper cups and use biodegradable spoons, and have a recycle bin next to our trash for all other recyclables.

Meet the Business Owner: Paula D.

Paula D. owns and operates this shop with the help of her immediate family and some extended members. Paula is a local school teacher, so the business opens each year on Memorial day weekend and closes on Labor Day weekend. Because she and the members of her family are in school during some of these months of operation, the shop is only opened on weekends while school is in session. The remainder of the season it is open every day except Mondays (closed all Mondays).
