I called Local Movers after I checked the Yellow Pages and thought their rates seemed reasonable. The man who answered the phone was incredibly rude and condescending the entire call. He tried to make me feel like an idiot for not knowing how long it would take them to move my 3 bedroom house. After that, I told him to forget it. DO NOT CHOOSE LOCAL MOVERS!!! I would not even give them one star. I called the owner about damaged and missing items and he screamed at me at the top of his lungs! He did not even listen to me more than one sentence before he started yelling and cursing at me! I hung up and he proceeded to call me back and yell at me more! When my husband called to attempt to talk to them he yelled at my husband too. We proceeded to call BBB and they ARE NOT ACCREDITED! They called back and left 2 VM messages on our phone which we have saved. They are telling us we are pathetic and that they all sat back and laughed at us! TERRIBLE OWNER!!! I called for a company move yesterday and the person that answered the phone was horribly rude. When I asked if they would come out to do an estimate he basically just quoted their hourly rate with no interest in customer service! If this is how they treat human beings how are they going to treat your stuff!! I agree with every other review I see on this site. People like this don't deserve to BE in business! read more

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THESE MOVERS! First of all, they were scheduled to arrive at my house at 2 PM and didn't show up until 6 PM. There were three movers and one was absolutely unprofessional making snide remarks continuously. Once they arrived at my new house they did quickly move everything in but once again, the snide remarks from the one mover just flowed from his mouth. I was told $80 per hour but then they added an extra 30 minutes on for driving to and from my houses which I was not told when I called to make the appointment. When I called the owner to complain, he immediately began swearing at me, calling me names and continued to do so for 10 minutes. After my landlord decided to give the house to her daughter, we needed to move to a new residence. I have terminal cancer and arthritis, and my wife has had two back surgeries. This made it important that the right furniture and boxes were on the right floors, and we tried to make it as smooth as possible for them. My 68 year old mother even treated them to a lunch break. One item was broken in the move, and my mother called to inquire about that, and the man who answered the phone told her "F you" (only with the actual word) and to never call them again. I called to get a free estimate, like the website said, and the woman who answered the phone was extremely rude!! She was not willing to answer questions. She laughed at my questions and accused me of getting into personal business when I asked how many years they had been in serve. She was very unkind. I looked them up on the BBB and they are not accredited. I would HIGHLY recommend NOT going with this company. I was driving on N 27th at 8am today and I saw one of their trucks dangerously weaving in and out of traffic. I have a CDL, I understand how hard it is to drive a large vehicle in traffic, but multiple accidents were narrowly avoided among the people around me. I called the number on the truck to notify the company of the safety concern and without letting me complete my sentence (I wasn't even angry), the man on the phone jumped right into yelling and cussing at me because "there's no way, that guy's been driving the truck for 20 years, there's no way he's unsafe, don't you have anything f***ing better to do?" He called me a "piece of s***" and hung up on me for trying to help him out. Like I said, I wasn't even angry. Absolutely unprofessional. read more

After two good experiences with Local Movers moving furniture within my house and moving furniture to my lake house, I hired them for a whole house move to another house in Lincoln. It was a move from a big, 5 bedroom, 3 level house with packing an entire kitchen, lots of clothing, artwork and books, and I asked the owner, Dave, to come over to assess the job. He refused, declaring that they could move any household and he would send packing materials. Red flag! I should have insisted that he come over to look at the job in order to get the job. His movers arrived totally unprepared for the size of the move. They had no packing materials. They called their boss and told him the move would take two days, so Dave arrived himself, with 8 more employees, creating a horde of people swarming over the house. My husband could not supervise so many workers, their efforts were not coordinated, and they packed EVERYTHING in sight, including items that needed to stay with the house, such as remotes for ceiling fans, central vac parts and manuals for appliances. Items we intended for donation were packed and moved. It became such a rush job that they became careless, failing to blanket large valuable pieces of furniture, damaging corners of wood pieces and breaking a slab marble table in half. I'm thankful I didn't let them pack and move heirloom china and crystal. I gave Local Movers a star because the movers worked very hard and stayed cheerful, and I observed no marking or damage to walls or doors at either old or new house. read more

I would NEVER recommend this company to ANYONE! They are rude to their customers! My roommate and I hired Local Movers to move us out of our apartment over Thanksgiving weekend. We had the time and date all set up until the night before when the company left us a voicemail saying that they were moving our time forward by three hours. I called them back to tell them I was still out of town for vacation and ask why our time was moved. Apparently the man I talked to was having a bad day because he automatically started yelling at me and telling me that either I leave my vacation early or they would drop our appointment altogether. After talking with my roommate we decided that we didn't want to give our money to a company that talked to their customers that way and decided to cancel our appointment with Local Movers. When I called back I talked to a woman and explained that the reason we were cancelling was because I had been berated by the man I'd talked to before. The woman then said that she'd heard the whole thing and "he wasn't being rude"...they just didn't understand why it was such a big deal for me to leave my vacation early to accomodate their schedule. Unbelievable!!! The funny thing is that I could have made some adjustments and probably been able to make the new time work if they would have just asked nicely and not automatically yelled at me for asking questions about why our time was switched. read more

I used Local Movers for a very small move. They showed up on time and did an excellent job. The movers were very conscientious, did not damage any property although the item they were moving was unwieldy, and charged a very reasonable fee. My family has had good experiences with the company in the past. However, I had a very unfortunate experience with their customer "service." I had called ahead and asked that my credit card be billed for the move, and provided my information. A family member of mine met the movers and the movers accepted his check at the end of the move, which I learned a couple days later. This was not a big deal, but I did want to make sure that my credit card wouldn't get charged since we had already gotten our wires crossed once. When I called to make sure that I wouldn't accidentally get double-billed, we had a brief discussion about why the movers accepted the check instead of charging the card, and that the check had already been cashed. I said that was fine and that I understood the mix-up, but just wanted to make sure my card wouldn't accidentally get charged. The person on the other end of the line came unhinged. He yelled and cursed at me and said that he couldn't believe that I would call and accuse him of running his business this way, that it took a lot of nerve for someone like me to think he would try to bill me twice for such a small charge when he'd been running the business successfully for many years, etc., and our discussion took on a much more confrontational tone. He hung up on me in a rage. I was stunned that he was so upset and defensive, especially since I wasn't even calling to complain about their mistake, but rather just to make sure we didn't have any more mix-ups. I had not meant to imply that the company might intentionally double-bill me, and I don't think it came off that way. I don't think it's unreasonable to call and check in this situation, especially given the earlier confusion. I did call back later and said there had been a misunderstanding. He was more reasonable. Still, given this experience, I will use Two Men and a Truck in the future, with whom I had a very positive experience on a prior move. read more

I am currently looking for estimates for an upcoming move. When speaking with a company representative, he was very short with me, responding to my questions in a very rude way. I stated that because he was being so unpleasant on the phone, I may just look elsewhere. He stated, "Whatever, go somewhere else then." Please do not go with this company. They showed up over two hours late, took a 30 minute break while on our time and also broke a shelf in our move and refused to take responsibility for it. The owner David Tarrence verbally abused and insulted me and my wife when we called to try and find out what happened to our shelf. This company is a joke. I had the a very similar experience as the other poster. They were over 4 hours late and tried to move me to the next day. They took 6 hours to move what should have been moved in 3 or 4 tops. Everything was ready to go but they were moving one box at a time rather than using at cart. Many of my pieces have been moved by movers before with carts but they choose to do it by had therefore taking up way more time. Some things were scratched by them.....and they moved slow and then refused to finish loading things that were ready to go. They said the truck was full....it was not even close to full. They were so slow that the renters in the other apartments were talking about it. Also they took 20 min to find the apartment even though I called them when I saw them going the wrong way and even then they still went to the wrong apartment. I paid for 20 min that they were joy riding. Unloading at the new place was the same deal and they moved a desk in by hand a grunted making a big deal of it......when I bought this desk the guy brought it on a cart no problems whatsoever! THEN after thinking about it all for a few days after I decided to call the owner very nicely...not to get a refund or anything just to let him know it was not a good experience and it cost me almost $500.00 to move a one bedroom apartment. I had only two large items and everything was boxed up and labeled ready to go much of it even outside. But I didnt get a chance to even talk to the owner before started yelling and got VERY verbally abusive to me on the phone and I mean LOUD ad Mean. FUck, and every other word you can think of and putting blame on me and making up lies. Also when I paid they wanted the check made out to the owers name only so they could take it to my band and cash it....cash under the table....illegally not reporting the income they are bringing in. EXTREME CAUTION before hiring this company!!! I just got off the phone with this company after asking for an estimate. The man who answered didn't give me any more information than I found on their website, ie he provided their hourly rate. When I asked if he was going to send someone to our house, his response was "what more do you want, I just gave you the estimate." I should have read the earlier review before I called Local Movers. The guy that answers the phone and schedules moves has no business in the customer service business, and frankly no business that requires human communication at all. He was by far the most rude and unhelpful person I have dealt with. After I scheduled a move (even though the guy was very abrupt and not professional) I did not receive any confirmation, paperwork, etc. When I called two days before the move to confirm and ask about additional insurance (we have many antiques), he got angry and even more rude. Would give a -1 if I could. I was closing on my house the day after my scheduled move. Dave called a couple days before the day I was moving and said that he had to move the time from 11 am to 4 pm. Knowing this would not work I called back and he had no real excuse as to why he needed to change the time. When I asked if they could move me first thing in the morning he said, "you said you didn't want first thing in the morning." And argued with me when I said I never said that. I told him 4 pm was way too late cause I was closing on the house the next day and needed time to clean. Dave just kept asking, "but why." He finally said he could schedule the move first thing in the morning. I did not feel confident in Local Movers showing up on moving day, so I called another company. When I called back to cancel Dave said, "so in other words, you got butt hurt." I proceeded to say thank you, not play into his games, and hung up the phone. Dear Dave, you are the most disrespectful person I have ever come in contact with. You need to stop being an asshole to everyone. I see why you are the cheapest in town. I would never recommend this business. When calling to schedule & going over options the individual I spoke with was horribly rude, he would not let me finish my questions & spoke over me. At one point I inquired about the price difference between 2 & 3 men he said, "I'll be making more money off of you if you schedule for 2 men, so it's your loss." At the end of confirming he hung up on me. I was completely shocked & appalled by the customer service. I was sure to tell my friends afterwards & they volunteered to help me move for free. When calling to cancel the same individual answered, when he asked if I'm not moving anymore I informed him that I choose to go with other services. He gruffly responded with "Good luck with that." & hung up. I wish this review was over their services to provide more insight but I refuse to find out what that experience would be like knowing how poor their customer rapport is. I would hate to have something happen during the move to me or another & have to talk with that individual again, it obviously would have ended sourly. read more

Just called for an estimate and the man was so rude. I asked him why he was being an asshole and he flipped out called me a bitch, nut case and was just yelling all kinda shit. I couldn't even believe someone who works in customer service would talk this way. Then hung up on me. I called back and asked to speak to the manager, which the woman on the phone said she was. I don't believe that bc if she did she would have fired him on the spot if she was any kind of a good manager at all. She told me that she was listening to mine and his conversation and that I should call another moving company. Oh wait did you think I would ever use your company. No I was calling to complain but as it seems looking at all the other comments on the yelp page about this company it seems others have had to deal with this guy's short temper and they haven't done anything about it.
