Trying to figure out the best and most reasonably priced company for a new roof is a frustrating process, as you want to get a good deal, a good warranty, and make sure the process is done correctly. Although my husband and I are still trying to decide which company to go with, I want to say how incredibly impressed I am with Ryan at Conejo Services/Local Roofs. First, he arrived within the promised two-hour window. Additionally, he called me, and I received a text message with his approximate arrival time. Then, he explained the services they provide, the warranty, any additional services we requested be completed, and more. When I asked him questions about the process, he didn't make me feel dumb; he explained it in a very easy-to-understand way and definitely helped me understand the roofing process a lot better. After about 20 minutes of measurements and calculations, Ryan was able to email me a quote before he left our property! Unfortunately, this company had one of the highest quotes among the other roofing companies we met with, but I can't emphasize enough how professional and knowledgeable Ryan was. If only their pricing were lower, we'd love to consider working with them. read more

The process to get the initial estimate was seamless and the team that came to install the new gutter and downspouts did an excellent job. Very professional and high quality craftsmanship. Everything looked great but unfortunately the color did not match our existing gutters (see before photo). Apparently there was a miscommunication on color options available for our steel gutters but Ryan, one of the owners of Local Roofs, stepped in and promised to make everything right. They sent out Keith from Mineo painting who did a superb job of matching the colors (see after photo) and Local Roofs picked up the cost of the painting. He gave me a great initial price and took the time to explain the differences including pros and cons of asphalt shingle, lightweight concrete, clay tile, etc. Furthermore, I had the roof done after moving into my first house and the project manager, Rudy, and the foreman on site, Rodrigo, sent extra guys to hit a tight deadline and got it done in 4 days! Poor communication, workers don't show up when they say they would, didn't clean up after themselves and placed mismatched tIles on my roof. I needed to know the condition of the roof being. Mr. Greg and his trusty drone which is pretty cool inspected my roof. While I ultimately did not go with Local Roofs (nothing on their end, it was my finances) they did provide me with the BEST quote and Service. Jay was absolutely a gem to work with. He explained the entire process, walked through the proposal with me, answered all of my questions. Oh and most importantly, there was no "high pressure" to "sign today." Oh and even though I'm not able to do this project now, Jay advised me to make sure I at least replace the shingles they have come off to make sure I don't get any leaks. Roof leaked. Hired LocalRoof for new composition roof. Complaints are: roof still leaked after the roof was replaced because they didn't seal the electrical pipe ( to the HVAC)...apparently the original problem. Had to call them to install ridge cap where they hadn't done that. They used the wrong color composition rolled roofing around the HVAC and had to come back and re-do that area with 'hot mop'...still the wrong color. Left roofing scraps and roofing nails all over the property that resulted in a flat tire. Left facia board openings in areas where facia broke when removing old roof. Should I go on? Overall, poor attention to common details. Will never use them again nor recommend them. read more

Although they were named "Local Roofs", they were not from the Camarillo/Ventura area. This caused me some concern. However, when they finished, my wife and I were amazingly pleased. An estimator came out and took a look. Unlike another estimator, he was honest and did not oversell us. A demo crew came out and efficiently and cleanly removed our old shingles. A separate roofing crew came and, just as efficient and clean, did the job. Then yet another "inspector" from the company came out to check everything. Although different workmen did different jobs, it was all tied together efficiently. Like many of these contracting jobs, there was a glitch or two. When they occurred, Local Roofs made everything good without any argument at their own cost and labor. For such a large small business, it is efficiently and quality oriented. Their customer service is superior. As a former small business owner, I couldn't be more impressed. This is a well-run quality operation. read more

Here is an update to my review. They charge $500 to place the tarp, but that's credited against the cost of the job. That means that, once you have the tarp placed, they have an incentive to increase the cost of the job because you are, in some respects, "stuck." But that's not what they did. The actual estimate was a bit lower than what the estimator originally thought (before he had access to overhead photos to take measurements). In other words, they had a chance to take advantage of me, and they didn't do it. How often does that happen to homeowners? Also, since the tarp was placed, we have had torrential rains, with a lot of wind. The tarp has held perfectly, keeping everything inside dry. I'm very grateful. The job is scheduled for next week. I'll make a final update once it's done. read more

I talked with 4 different roofing companies and Local Roofs was the most responsive and the best fit for me. The new roof is beautiful. Their crew did an excellent job; they were professional and friendly every one of them. Their quality control person, Rob, who inspected the job at the end was meticulous and made sure that everything was perfect. He showed me pictures he took while on the roof and pointed out the neat workmanship of the flashings and valleys. LocalRoofs was very responsive to all of my concerns and great at communicating what was going to happen and when. If I had a question and phoned, someone would either answer my question or call me back promptly.
