*Would Hire Again*…read more [Project Scope] Re-roof on a one story single family house, including new underlayment, drip edge, composite shingles, plus sheathing repairs and ventilation updates. FWIW, in my line of work we nit-pick over details & craftsmanship. I bring those expectations--for better or worse--to maintaining my house. Unsurprisingly, I tend to find some level of fault with any contractor. [Communication] The project manager (Danny) and front office (Melissa) were quick to answer the many questions I had via email, text, and phone. They were patient while I took my time selecting a contractor. They also coordinated directly with my solar contractor so the rooftop PV system was off the roof for no longer than necessary. The PM was out briefly each day to check the work and collect payment. [Availability] I didn't need the work done urgently, but Smart Roofing did start work within two weeks of signing the contract and finished within 3 days. [Warranty] One reason I chose this company was their standing as Owens Corning Platinum Preferred, which gets a workmanship warranty backed by Owens Corning (except the solar penetrations in our case), should the contractor ever go out of business. [Workmanship] Crews (separate tear-off and install) were on-time, respectful, and cleaned up each day. Overall, the work appears to be done well, though I'm no roofer. The way some of the holes in the roof were cut and flashings set did seem to be rushed, but so far it's watertight and that's what matters. The original sheathing had large gaps, which I asked to be fixed, although they may have done so without my asking, that wasn't communicated one way or another. They handled the addition of an exhaust vent flashing, relocation of a vent flashing, and removal of an unused vent flashing as per my request. [Issues] At some point, the furnace b-vent was pushed into the attic, breaking an elbow inside the attic. I ended up getting the part and doing the repair myself. Similar as well with the water heater b-vent: it was pushed down and crushed a section, but wasn't caught by the crew. Plus, the vent was reset at an angle so it's now pressed up against the house. Finally, while cleanup went fairly well, there was still trash and a few handfuls of nails scattered throughout the property, roof, and gutters--a small complaint and probably par for the course. Slightly-related... at no point did a Simi Valley building inspector come onto our property. For both inspections, a truck appeared across the street, yet no one got out. No looking at the back of the roof, no rooftop inspection, no check that sheathing was sound and work done correctly. What a joke, that $560 payment to the city. Decided to do a full roof underlayment replacement, searched on Yelp and received 4 quotes with almost identical materials from 4 different licensed roofers. Quote from Evi at Smart Roofing is the lowest with a bit more coverage, and Evi always answered my questions in a timely manner. Eventually signed a contract with Evi, project started in March during the hottest week. Evi kept me posted on a daily basis, and their crews are friendly and hard working, cleaned up before leaving every day. 1st day to demolition, 2nd day for city inspection and material delivery, then it took 3 days to complete the installation of Westlake Royal TileSeal HT underlayment. Smart Roofing offers unlimited plywood and tile replacement as needed, and they do not subcontract, all crewmembers are employed by Smart Roofing. Evi brought company's insurance document along with different underlayment samples when coming for an estimate, my project is backed by 10-year labor warranty and 30-year underlayment manufacturer warranty. Need to wait for the rain season to see how everything holds up, many thanks to Evi and all the crewmembers.

Fortunately, my garage (which was storing much of what I had that wasn't in the house) was the only thing that suffered damage, Unfortunately, most of my mementos were destroyed. I reroofed, and now almost 30 years later, with rumors are that El Nino is making a return visit, I thought (since we had suffered minor leaks during some of the recent rains) it was time to reroof, so I put Yelp to work to find me some people to interview. I picked five for the information I could glean, asking few questions, since I knew opening my mouth connected to a brain that knows little about roofing, would be a bad idea and also seeing if people were helpful with their explanations. Everyone (maybe except one) was personable enough for me to think I could work with them, but much of the information was kinda the same thing (although I noted some improvements in roofing since 97 that were useful to ask each about). The prices were more or less the same, and close enough that I knew I could find a point that would be roughly around the general price for them all, so it wasn't money. It was rapport and ultimately who gave me the greatest sense of trust. And. I learned, information that no one else told me. Roy, with Top Roofing was the ONLY one of the five that I saw who discussed the solar pool heating on my roof with me; each of the people I met with went on the roof. Not one other person mentioned it, and if you have solar panels on the roof - it's a consideration in doing the job. When I called the others who'd come to the house to say I'd made my choice and asked why I picked someone else I told them this - it was determinative that one person told me this was a job that needed to be done in addition to the roofing. He hooked me up with a solar heating company, he'd worked with before and I got on the phone with them and felt reasonably satisfied that between them and Roy it would get done on time, on budget. (It's not a small add-on to have them remove and reinstall the works, so if this affects you, be warned). Roy stayed in touch with me throughout - He came by and we spoke on phone daily. We had agreed that in the cost we he would completely replace and repaint a tongue-and-groove porch which was pretty rotted out) and aside from some permit forms I had to fill out, gave me a date of less than a week every date was kept. His crew was punctual, and so neat - the pool was covered, they cleaned up each of the five days they worked. Roy walked the yard with me before they started so I could make sure my gardener trimmed where he needed to, then walked it again, to tell me where we might need to keep trimming. He touched base with me every day, and when it was over gave me a video of the roof (both the main house and the garage were reroofed), and the porch which looked haggard now looks beautiful. I can't say enough about what a positive experience this was. And it looks really good. And since the last time I put on a roof, the tile now cools down the exterior which is good to have in an LA summer. The roof is up, the solar heating is back in operation. Let's go. A roof is an expensive proposition, and I think it's ok to know little if you hire someone you believe in (and, I'll admit, test out a little bit at the onset), who speaks to you in a way that is helpful and doesn't overwhelm you, but I think this was an incredibly positive experience in terms of labor, cleanliness, schedule and most importantly communication. They sent a full crew of people to work on the roof which is one of the reasons why the work finished so quickly. If I wanted repair I just had repaired my existing roof! The images clearly show the poor job in installing torch down layer by roof land. This exquisite work was observed as I walked my dog daily and asked questions of my neighbors and the crew working as I was in the market for a new roof. Ovi and his wife are perfectionists and their commitment to quality is unsurpassed. Don't make the mistake I did and go with the cheaper company that promises the same quality, it's not worth it. In the end I didn't save any money, I only got aggravation and excuses from the company I used and will probably have to redo some of the work.

Arteen is an owner-operator who takes pride in his work, and the quality shows. We've had many paint jobs done in different homes over the years, and his attention to detail really stood out. He was careful to keep everything clean before and after painting. For example, he removed every light switch, outlet, and fixture, cleaned them, and carefully put everything back. We were impressed enough with his attention to detail that we also asked him to take care of some additional home improvement work that wasn't related to painting. He was flexible about working around other vendors who were in the home at the same time, and he communicated clearly throughout the project. We always knew when he would be there, what he planned to accomplish, and what had been completed. He is also a genuinely nice person and a pleasure to have around. We would definitely recommend Arteen and will certainly call him again for future projects.

Worst experience ever! Service Magic Rescue's Tal Lazarovits is the worst project manager! I had…read morewater in my kitchen in November 2025. They immediately sent a team who tore out my entire kitchen and floorboards. It is 6 months later & still no kitchen. They said the water was coming from the outside patio so tore it out completely. They did redo the patio, but the elevations are off, the drains are too high and the slope of the drains are incorrect. There is water standing in the drains and water ponds at the kitchen wall. There is also construction debris in the drains. The patio has rolling humps and the elevations are off so the water does not go towards the drains. The drains were connected to the kitchen sewer line which could cause backups during heavy rain and sewer smells to come out the drains on patio. I told him I wanted it permitted. He did not get a permit and removed 2 exterior walls and redid without a permit. He installed non-GFI plugs in the kitchen which are not up to code. I am having to completely redo all the work that he did and am filing a complaint with the Contractors Licensing Board with the support of my new contractor. I just discovered that Service Magic Rescue and it's CEO/Qualifying Member has 2 lawsuits against them. 1 of which is for defaulting on a consumer loan and the other is for Contract Fraud. I had damage to my tile roof and during the past rains causing serval leaks in my ceiling in the kitchen, living room, and dinning room area's. My insurance company referred me to a few roofing companies. When I ck'd with them they where all very busy. When I asked if they could refer me to someone that could do the repairs on the inside they all told me that I would have to find my own contractor. AAA roofing, not only where they very helpful and quick on coming out, between there estimator Lee & office manager Yesenia, who where very friendly, helpful, professional and very up front with everything. This made everything go very smoothly. They also referred me to a company they used for all of the inside work. They did a great job. They where also very friendly & professional. Bottom line is I would refer AAA roofing to anyone that has any roofing problems or ceiling repair needs. One more thing. I did refer them to a neighbor across the street who had leaks from there roof. Lee came out looked everything over and told them that the leaks where coming from there sliding glass doors & that the rest of there roof was in great shape. They told Lee that they had them installed last yr. This is how honest Lee is, he told them he could do the repairs but recommended that they call the company that installed them first. Although I ultimately decided to go with a different company that could handle my roof and siding work together, I have complete confidence that AAA Roofing would have done an outstanding job. If my project were only for the roof, I'd have chosen AAA Roofing without hesitation. Jonathan was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and responsive throughout the process. During a previous visit, he assessed a skylight leak and patched it as a temporary fix--without charging us! In contrast, another roofer with a $3,500 minimum job proposed that amount for the skylight alone. Jonathan's attention to detail, flexibility, and excellent communication stood out. He identified that the siding was the cause of a garage leak and was more time-sensitive than the roof work, as the roof was decrepit but not currently leaking. When I shared that I was leaning towards a company that could handle both the roof and siding, he kindly offered a personal referral to a reputable siding contractor and even slightly lowered his (already competitive) price to make it more competitive with an all-in-one option. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, I wasn't able to solicit additional bids, so I moved forward with another all-in-one option. Having to replace your roof can be a bit of an overwhelming process, not to mention the unknown cost that will be involved. But from the start of communication with Gigi, the office manager, to the first meeting with Jonathan, one of the heads of the family-owned company, they put us at ease and made the process a whole lot easier to manage. Great experience with this company. Had half my roof redone, which involved matching the new with the other half which we had done several years ago. Ryan walked me through the whole process ahead of the project, and everything went as he described--no real surprises. He gave me options in terms of the materials used and was in touch regularly to answer any question. The work crew showed up on time, worked steadily until the job was done, and cleaned up after themselves, which was great. Very please with how it all worked out--and there is a 10-year warranty on their work, which provides some comfort. Their price was within the same range as the other quotes I'd gotten for the job, slightly lower than those other estimates--I was worried there would be a lot of add-ons, but that didn't happen. We had a leak in our Calabasas home master bedroom after the heavy rains last month. It happened on a Saturday and Lee was prompt to reply and came over that same day. Avi came to give me an estimate and right away I liked this guy because like me he was very detail oriented- he went over everything that needed doing and the next day I had my estimate- I had collected 4 other bids and his was not the lowest at all but it reflected the care that he displayed to fixing my roof {only needed 3 sections done} as if he were dealing with his own roof- I knew right then he was my guy. During the rainy season earlier this year, my roof was in terrible shape. I was worried and wondered who could fix my roof. I tried to get a quote for a new roof installation. I received a call back from the company's assistant Yesenia. She stated that the earliest appointment was 8 days out which was fine..... When I told her that my insurance company approved an insurance claim she advised me that there would be a $160 fee to send a roofer to inspect my roof. She stated that there was a $160 inspection of room because there was a claim through my insurance. I called 5 other companies and none of them charged a fee to come out. AAA was absolutely great to work with. I had a leak on the front side of my roof, and also wanted my backyard patio overhang covered so it could be rain/weather proof. They cleaned things up nicely, carted away all the broken tiles, and were very workmanlike. Definitely recommend them and would call them back in if we have further problems.
