I needed my front steps replaced and railings reinstalled. My neighbor used LoChiatto for concrete work and I was impressed by the quality job and the cleanup. I was given an estimate and a date that the work would begin. The workers were on time, neat, and did an excellent job. They were especially careful in reinstalling my railings, to make sure that I wouldn't have an issue with them getting loose. Their office staff were good following up on my questions. The driveway turned out fine but they were very slow. We hired them to pave our driveway and retaining wall in may 2025 the wall got done in a week and looked good! Then they said that it would take four weeks for them to come and do the driveway. We had a rock driveway for over 10 weeks! When they finally finished it they said it would be d again in 2 weeks! Horrible job. Came as a referral -- do not get work done by them. I paid them over $7000 to redo the entire driveway in October , 2023. I called them 1 week after the job was done -- telling them about standing water puddles on the driveway. They said they would fix it. I kept calling them to remind them. After a while the office people stopped taking my calls. I tried to get a paving company to come & see to pave the driveway before the winter. They refused after seeing all the dents & dips in the driveway. Patches of extra asphalt was thrown to the end of the driveway as they ran out of asphalt on the first day. I have been waiting for over a year for LoChiatto to repair cracking in between pavers that they installed in August 2023. Mark's reply to my original BBB complaint was "that this a minor issue, and an easy fix. We will contact the customer when this can be taken care of. Keep in mind we schedule small repairs like this sporadically. He is on the list for repair". The definition of sporadic is - something that occurs occasionally, or in irregularly or random instances. I believe sporadic repairs should occur within the time frame of a year; a more than reasonable expectation. As of the sending of this, the repairs has not been completed. The reply from LoChiatto (6/19/2024 to the BBB) was the last I have heard from them. I foolishly believed that they would follow through and make the repairs in a timely fashion. read more

This is unacceptable, i called several times, left messages, they almost never call back. Finally when i was able to reach some one over 6 weeks ago, Josie told me i will call you right back with the answer. IM STILL WAITING even after reaching out again and again. But how funny is that when i a few minutes ago i called and let them have it on the answering machine, the called me right away. LOL. Do yourself the biggest favor you can do for yourself and STAY AWAY from this company! They are NOT a reputable company--far from it! They did some work for us that was not done properly. We called and asked to speak to the owner (Vito) and was told (constantly) that he was "Not Available" We continued to call and left many, many, many messages and we never received a call back. Apparently, once your check clears (Payment is due on the day of service) you are no longer of any use to them! We had to call in another company to fix their poor workmanship! Save yourself a lot of time, money and aggravation and use another company. Both the quality of work and the customer service are HORRIFIC! We are in the process of contacting an attorney. I waited 5 months for them to show up after being told several times prior they were coming out. No call no show. There was confusion between what I wanted done and what I was given an estimate for, only to be told that what I want done and given an estimate for would be extra. I was told I had to wait the 5 months (they tore up my driveway in May and finished in late September) because of the weather (I guess beautiful warm weather is not when asphalt should be put down) when they finally showed up not one single worker, including the boss was wearing a mask. Our next door neighbors had a backyard patio put in this week.  They were on vacation the whole time.  In these coronavirus days, we were home and able to watch the work unfold.  In terms of construction quality, Lo Chiatto deserve 4 or 5 stars.  There were some small corners cut in a few places, but I'm sure other local companies would probably cut the same corners.  The end result looks nice, and I'm sure our neighbors will be happy with it. The big problem with Lo Chiatto is the attitude of their workers.  Specifically, their backhoe/excavator operator is an entitled jerk.  If I could assign negative stars due to attitude, I think they'd sit around -2 stars. On the first day of work, the materials were arranged on our block so that a huge pile of dirt sat in front of our curb, and the backhoe blocked our driveway.  The backhoe was not being used for almost the entire day, yet it blocked our driveway for over 10 hours.  About 6 hours in, we asked for it to be moved so that we could use our car.  They refused to move it until after 6pm.  It would not have been difficult for Lo Chiatto to have arranged their supplies so that our neighbors house was the "hub" for their supplies instead of ours. After the first day of work, they left many yards of dirt on the street.  Since it was in front of our house instead of the house they were doing work on, the dirt blocked our sump pump outlet, and our sump started backing up in our basement.  My husband had to dig out a channel from the dirt to correct for their mistakes to save our basement. On the second day around 8:45am, the backhoe was back in front of our driveway, the dirt pile was moved to block our sump outlet again, and a dump truck was ready to unload a pile of sand to replace the dwindling pile of dirt.  At this point, we begged the driver to not put the pile of sand in front of our sump outlet and instead to put it in front of our neighbor's (his client's) house.  His response:  multiple eye rolls, laughing, then refusing to respond, and finally walking away. It took my husband's threats of calling 911 so that we could have our driveway unblocked before we got a response.  He agreed to make sure our sump outlet was clear and move the pile.  It was no big deal for him to put the next pile 5 feet over so that our sump could be clear. The backhoe continued to block our driveway for another 5 hours while it was not even in use.  When the workers started rolling wheelbarrows full of heavy stone over our grass (again, instead of our neighbor's, their client's), we had to section off our grass with pink tape.  We threatened to call 911 again so that the backhoe could be moved to finally unblock our driveway.  Calling the cops was the only thing that seemed to have an effect on this backhoe operator.  After the backhoe was finally moved, the operator managed to drive the fork attachment into the asphalt on the road in front of our driveway, leaving a mark in the road.  It was a bit comical at that point since we had driven these workers off our property using any legal means at our disposal, but we can't stop them from destroying the road in front of our property! On the third and final day of work, the backhoe operator had gotten himself ready to bring the dump truck in front of our house for unloading debris.  We had had enough, so I moved our car in front of our driveway on the street so that they didn't have space to take over our driveway yet again. Our neighbors must've called the company to complain by that point because we almost got the backhoe operator to make eye contact with us in an exchange.  I told him that we are happy to move our vehicle to help him out -- all he had to do was ask us politely.  For the entire day, he was inconvenienced by our vehicle sitting in front of our property.  He probably spent an extra 20 minutes or so moving his backhoe around to reach the dump truck.  But he refused two "easy" options to make the situation better:  ask us nicely or do a slight move down the block to make space for the original set up. We are really unsure why this backhoe operator was such a jerk.  Why isn't it company policy to set up your operations so that the only property you block is your client's?  Why isn't it company policy to at least ask a neighboring homeowner for permission to block their driveway for days?  Is it company policy and this is just a rogue employee?  Why is this guy even employed, and why would Lo Chiatto allow that? I am so glad that my neighbor's patio is finished now.  I can only hope that nobody on my block hires Lo Chiatto any time soon. read more

From start to finish the process was smooth and stress free. We had a relatively big job with stripping and repaving our driveway, installing a patio, a firepit, a walkway and a concrete base for a shed. Vito came out to đo my estimate and was friendly, professional and gave me a great price. Their office was in contact with me constantly and even during off hours when some delays came up due to the weather. Our driveway is beautiful and our patio and walkway have gotten constant compliments, even from other landscapers. The crew was efficient, friendly and respectful to our neighbors. Vito also noticed an issue with our front walkway and fixed it free of charge. I can't speak highly enough of the company and will definitely use them again moving forward for any other projects. Very rude. Paving my neighbors driveway, no permission to park in my driveway. Ran over my sprinkler heads and tore up my grass, crushed my sprinkler head. I told them to leave 2x and they told me NO...nowhere to park. I had to call police. Yesterday they parked a dump truck with a trailer attached carrying a backhoe/tractor in my driveway AGAIN without permission. I feel that they are very inconsiderate and I would never hire them. Not much to say except they were recommended by a friend and never returned any of my phone calls. I first reached out to them three months ago, because we were taking the oil tank out of my mom's driveway which had herringbone pavers and wanted to meet with them before that work started to get an estimate. I called them twice back in October. As the remediation got closer to completion, I called them again and left a message. I called back three days later and got the answering service and left a message, and a week later and left a message. Guess they don't need my business. For some reason if you decide to hire them, make sure the 2 year warranty or anything else charlie or vito says to you is in writing when you sign the contract. the work they do is pretty good, but after you pay them and something needs fixing, they'll give you the run around. so please, just make sure everything is in writing, because their word will not mean anything after you have paid in full. read more

They are a horrible company, and they were not friendly from the very beginning. They installed a new driveway for us with the results supposed to be re-pitching so that the water drains away down the driveway when it rains. It is worse now than before we had it done. They will not call us back, they will not return emails, we've been calling and emailing them three times a day for a month and they will not return our calls. I don't recommend this paving company to anyone especially a smalltime homeowner/residential. We were idiots for paying them in full, but being a first-time homeowner you make these kinds of mistakes. I will never make this mistake again. I engaged LoChiatto Paving to pave my driveway in 2018. The job was completed and shortly thereafter we started seeing cracks in the driveway. We called the company and they said to send them photos of the cracks. We sent the photos and they said they would have someone come out to look at the claim. They never sent anyone to look at it. When we called back they said the owners were on cruises and would get back to us when they returned. They never did. The cracks were getting worse and when we called back they said that we were on the list to have it repaired. Shockingly they never repaired it. After about a year and a half we then received an email from the company that read we should hire a sealing company to fix it. Unbelievable. I would never recommend this company to anyone. I'm now having my lawyer send them a legal letter. read more

I had made an appointment for an estimate to have my front porch looked at to be redone. We settled on a day, and were told that there are 2 hour windows, and that the person who would be coming would call at least 30 mins prior to arrival. I chose the 12p-2p slot. Knowing the 2 hour window, I made another personal appointment for 3pm. Logically an estimate should not take that long. My appointment day comes, and I was truly excited to be able to talk to someone about this project that I have been wanting to do. 12pm passes, at 1:50 I get a call from Charlie who called to say that he would be at my house in 20-30 minutes. Clearly this is going to be well after my window given to me. As I had an appointment for 3pm, I had to leave no later than 2:10 to make it on time. I asked why he or the office did not call to advise me that he was running late. From there, that seem to set him off and he started to get loud with me. I explained that I had another appointment, and it would have been nice for someone to call me. He then went off to tell me in a loud voice that he was with another customer and could not call himself, which I understand but the office could have called me I told him. He then asked me if I wanted him to come out or not, in which I said "if you're going to be an a-hole, no I do not." He hung up on me. I then called the front office to explain what happened, and they were apologetic and said they would get an appointment with Vito (the owner or something). So we booked a date and time. Here we are the day that Vito is supposed to arrive, and I get a voicemail from their office that Vito will not be able to make it as there are "some kind of problems over there." I called back and spoke with Lisa. She had to call me back as she wanted to talk to Vito to see what happened. Lisa called me back and said that Vito said that he doesn't want to come out as there was some type of verbal altercation with Charlie. I explained to her again what had happened, but unfortunately, they had made their decision. It's their word again mine at this point, and I'm 100% sure they will back up Charlie and try to twist things to make me look like a bad person. However, it seems as though the ethics that this company are not in line with other businesses. I truly wish they did not waste my time, but at the end of the day, it their loss. But the way the company seems to operate, it seems like they will not care. Makes you wonder about other run in's this company has had. Good news is I have found a competitor to come out to provide an estimate. If you are looking at this company to do you work, buyer beware. Although, they may have a few good reviews, you have others who just don't take the time out to write them which is unfortunate as it could shed more light on their business practices. read more

The co-owner of my house hired them without my consent. When Charlie showed up the same day as I hired fencing people to come to put in a new fence. I told Charlie about the fencing and showed them where the fencing was going to go. I was told no problem. Both crews were working at the same time. My fence was put on grass and they didn't come near it to dig up that area. A month later they showed up to pave the driveway. I came home to a scraped up fence. Office staff is professional and polite but Charlie was not when he finally called me back. He was rude, dismissive and condescending. He immediately denied knowing where the fence was going to go. He stated he would come by that day to discuss it but came by at time when he knew I would be out and didn't call me when he was on the way. I have been trying to get them to come back and at least get the black asphalt off the new fence but my emails are being ignored. Charlie even blamed me for the damage to my own fence. read more

They installed zipper drains and sump pumps, and re-pitched our driveway last year. Everything was ok at first, then we noticed we were having flooding recently. We called and asked for a service check, and that was almost 3 weeks ago. No call backs from the company, and repeated call backs either have the phone staff very confused or just reading back internal emails that don't provide any answers. We haven't heard back from anyone regarding the work, or a service call, or anything. They were initially amazing. They were extremely careful with their equipment ripping up our old patio. No damage! (I was nervous, not going to lie!) Beware and move carefully if doing business with this company, especially with their field / sales person Charlie. When he first visited my parent's home to look at damage in the house near the front door and crawl space located behind the front steps. I told him that I wanted the entire front steps removed down to the ground to inspect the entire wall behind the steps to see where water was getting in. He tells me no problem. He gives a price of approximately $5900 which is on the very high end. He even tells me that he will refinish / repair the handrails at NO CHARGE (Bull@$$&). I notice that only partial remove meant of the old step structure took place. When his workers and he was questioned about it he gives a bull&$$$ response that its not necessary. I review the contract closely and notice that his wording is different than what we had discussed. Read the fine print. Good old bull$&@&!? Charlie makes a remark that he is going to educate someone. Yes, he educated someone that the company has a liar salesman. One who bates and switch. However, I made sure that I communicated in writing, and took plenty of photos for records. Now if moisture in this area becomes a problem again and or a test to determine it is penetrating in this area again, who do you think will be called in to court to answer. Then I had to wait an entire month to get the job completed. Instead of good old Charlie reaching out to me to keep me updated I had to call him repeatedly. My calls were ignored. The office also gave me the runaround. You would think that he was the boss / owner but he is only a employee. The only good thing about doing business with this company through good old Charlie, is that he entered into a written contract as a representative of the company on its behalf to provide a guarantee for workmanship which the company is now responsible for.
