I had yet…read moreagain not done any research prior to arriving, so just started driving around the park, looking for a good spot to start our exploring. I parked where it said "daffodil meadow" since that sounded pretty sweet, and we ventured on into the woods. I had no idea it would be such a lovely hike alongside the Irondequoit Creek. We headed the wrong way on the red trail (I think?) and ended up intersecting with a few different trails along the way. The mud was minimal and there were very few other people on the trail the Friday I was there. With a few folks fishing along our hike, Freddy got some great people watching and chipmunk chasing in. I know now that there's a very popular fish hatchery. I didn't know what the situation would be with that during all things COVID, so we kept it simple and made a swift exit right after our sweaty hike. THis park is lush and gorgeous and provides a TON of magnificent views. Happy hiking!

This is a really lovely park... plenty of open space for playing games on the grass, getting some…read moresun, and also a pavilion or two for larger groups that want some cover & picnic tables. in the lower area, there's a very short little pathway by the water... there were kids playing and exploring the water, and someone else was fly fishing. On the upper portion of the park is the actual walking trail, which is a really well worn out path and very easy to walk (though I wouldn't consider it accessible to those in wheelchairs, etc). There isn't really anything to *see* at the end... it just kind of ends... but then you turn around and walk back. Honestly, my dog was more than happy to explore the entirety either way. :) I do have to remove one star because their bathroom facilities aren't great. At the time of my visit, the women's restroom was completely clogged - and the men's room was basically a single stall. :-/ TL;DR Really enjoyable park and I'll definitely be back in the future.

Sporting fields nearby are usually populated by soccer teams, softball players or folks playing frisbee catch with their pooch. On the canalside, you can catch families out for a stroll, plein air artists or couples walking hand in hand. It's a picture perfect location with a distinct view of the canal.

We parked on the East Bay Drive entrance (which has a very steep but short climb to view the bluffs). Please note the east entrance to the Bluff Trail has a limited number of parking spots with two porta-potty units instead of a full restroom. This is NOT the main entrance to the state park (which offers a larger parking lot and picnic benches). Although we did not have enough time to explore the other sections of the park or walk the full 1.3 miles of the Bluff Trail, I think the dramatic view of the drumlins with Lake Ontario in the background was more than worth the 1 hour drive from Penn Yan (on Keuka Lake) where we stayed for vacation. Another benefit of parking on the east end of the Bluff trail is that you have convenient walking access to Dragon View Beach (a popular spot to go swimming in the summer).

The paths are lovingly maintained. I have visited in all seasons and conditions. Check out the town website for all of the community events hosted here as well as hours for the park and nature center. The historic home is open for tours and tells the story of the farm and family that owned it for 6 generations. There are restrooms near the parking lot area by the home. A small children's garden, a playground, a labyrinth /maze and exercise stations are just some of the things of note. There are plenty of benches to sit and relax and take in the views. This park is ADA compliant.

The parks department is liable for the horrid state our Monroe county parks have become. Fishing here is nearly impossible due to the pond liner coming up. No public bathrooms, geese and excrement everywhere. Severely overgrown, with thorns everywhere. Initially we were following an online map, but we stopped at the park office to grab a paper copy for easier navigating. The park office is definitely not what I expected - it was a bit neglected, and nobody was there. I was hoping there'd be someone to talk to! Maybe they're just not in on Sundays. So off we went with our paper map! Lots of beautiful buildings - we really enjoyed the cobblestone house. Tree lined paths. Parking lots placed in convenient places. There was a cute little playground by the largest pond, and my daughter really enjoyed the abundance of lily pads. We were already feeling exhausted due to the heat by the time we found a trail entrance, but the trail itself was nice. There were teal colored trail markers nailed to the trees along the way, although the path itself was pretty straightforward until the turnaround. According to the map it should have circled back but there was a sign there for private property, so we hiked back the way we came instead. They had some absolutely gorgeous looking shelters. I'm not sure what the price point is, but it would be a great place for gatherings. Beautiful and peaceful, even if a little bit confusing our first time there. We will definitely be going back again (on a cooler day) to explore some more!
