And even though it's what we ended up having to do, they were upfront about it cost and gave me several alternatives even though we did end up having to change the lock and get keys made. Extremely accommodating and willing to go out of their way. Richard has been doing this for well over 30 years if I'm not mistaken. I've had to use locksmiths for commercial before and I will tell you the cost is crazy high.

I asked for one on their recommended list. Tech / owner said he could come by shortly on his way from another job and do it fairly quickly. Asked for a price quote. WOW, SHOCKING!!! Price was $250 for the service call to get the serial number, make a phone call, and open the safe. About 5 to 10 minutes. He said if he had to drill a hole to actuate the reset control board, price would be $450! Told him there was no way I would pay that, it is unreasonable, I would cut a hole and make a repair cover before I would pay that. We decided to drill it ourselves. I have a magnetic drill and a borescope to see the mechanism. Took us 15 minutes to open it. BEWARE, GET A QUOTE, AND SHOP AROUND. I have a disdain for price gouging. Better to decline business than to quote exorbitant pricing!

This was good information to pass along to my parents in case they needed to make any exchanges at the hardware store prior to his visit. I easily scheduled a next day, Saturday, appointment for them. It was easy to text Phil their address and contact information. On Saturday, Phil texted me and informed me that he was running a little ahead of schedule and could come about an hour or so early. My parents mentioned that he was respectful, courteous and a professional. I was told he wore his ID and explained all the work that he did.
