Stopped here on a weekday afternoon to get some work done and study. I got an iced oat milk latte that was fantastic! Service was fast, employees were super friendly, and the espresso was high quality. Bathrooms were also spotless. I'll also say that this place smells FANTASTIC. They have some mild scent diffusers going that make the place just smell so fresh and pleasant. Not overwhelming at all. Also, the chairs were nice and comfortable. I sat there for around 2 hours and was very comfortable. I will definitely come back here to try some of their other drinks and their desserts. Only (small) negative is that there's hardly any parking outside the shop. It's in a strip mall and there were very few spots available when I visited. Locus Cafe is a new cafe spot in Tacoma that opened recently in January. There is free angled parking available in the front. However, there is limited parking and may be a bit difficult to leave since it's so small. The inside is beautifully decorated. It's a fairly good sized space and there is a bathroom for customers to use. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. I ordered the Mr. Locus and my sister ordered the Lavender Cream Matcha. We also ordered a Strawberry Cheesecake Crepe to share together. Everything we ordered was made in a timely manner and were delicious. The Strawberry Cheesecake Crepe is definitely on the sweeter side, so be mindful of that when you order it. It would be perfect for a sweet treat after dinner! read more

I needed a clean, safe place with extended indie cafe hours to hangout at before a Yelp Elite Event in Tacoma. While I was at another bakeshop in Seattle's Central District, I found Locus Cafe on the Yelp app before heading back onto I-5 South (1/21/26). Free angled parking right off of Pacific Avenue. Greeted upon entering. Nice, clean cafe interior with banquette seating, as well as, ten two tops. Upbeat vibe with the overhead music and the Valentine's Day wall and table decor. Menu has tea, matcha, espresso bevs, seasonal & house specials, energy bevs, shakes, waffles for $14.95, crepes for $12.95, and mini pancakes for $13.95. The scent for the latter three sure was enticing. There's folks having takeout orders, but others onsite are having meetups with lively convo and a few of the laptop crowd. My 16oz mocha was pretty decent. Ordering/payment was part of the Joe system, so I was able to get a dollar off from previously accrued points from another Joe participant in Bothell. Additional notes: grand opening earlier this month Jan 2026, clean bathroom with baby changing table, table board games available too. I love this brand new coffee shop/cafe that opened up off of Pacific. I have had my eye on the space for quite a while as far as what would move in there next. Their coffee is nice and bold. I got a vanilla latte here which I liked. I also got a bite to eat. I ordered some of their mini pancakes with pistachio nuts and sauce. They were very good and made for a nice, light breakfast. There were other mini pancake options I'd like to check out again from that menu. They have a savory menu as well which I didn't explore with at all and that will indeed mean a return trip. From the website from the business I saw they had a chicken pesto panini and I really enjoy those kinds of sandwiches very much! read more

Why is this a 5 star experience? Everything!!! Service- owners are extremely kind and really looking to get better and wants every bit of feedback they can get about their food, drinks and business overall. Ambiance- it's a charming decor that's well lit. Plenty of seating and clean restroom. Food and drinks- oh man. Don't even know where to start. The drinks are all hand crafted and well thought out. This café is super cute and cozy -- I loved how they decorated it for the holidays, especially the festive pillows and the café sign in the back. It felt like a really inviting space to hang out, and I also liked that they had multiple board and card games available. It was nice seeing people actually playing games and enjoying the space together. That said, my drink was a bit disappointing. I ordered the Nr. Locus, but it had very little Biscoff flavor and no noticeable espresso taste -- it honestly just tasted like watery milk with little bits of biscoff cookie. I was hoping for more flavor. I also ordered the strawberry cheesecake mini pancakes, but there weren't any cheesecake bites on my dish, which I thought was strange since it said on the menu there would be. However, I do want to give credit where it's due -- the baristas were really kind and accommodating. I asked for light syrup and the white chocolate sauce on the side, and they were happy to do that. I also appreciated being able to add extra toppings; the crushed pistachios added a nice little crunch. Adorable spot on one of Tacoma's main thoroughfares. We stopped in after lunch to get a coffee. It was clean and welcoming and seemed popular amongst families with kids. So don't think me weird, but I am going to show you what the bathroom with the baby diaper changer looks like because it was impressively cute. The folks behind the counter were very friendly and helpful. I got a toasted marshmallow latte and they literally toasted a marshmallow and put it on top of the cup as a finishing touch. Classy. Such a cute cafe!!! Was very busy when we showed up after 11:30am. Theres limited parking available as they share with other shops in the small complex. There were a few street parking available if you're lucky. I ended up ordering the iced toasted marshmallow latte and it was great! I really wanted to like Locus Café. It's literally right next to my house, and I go to the smoke shop weekly--same owners, so I thought this would be a win. But I ordered a coffee with light ice, and it was mostly ice--two sips, and it was gone. The taste didn't impress either. I also paid $15 for a "Dubai chocolate strawberry," and they barely put any dubai chocolate in it! For that price, I was expecting way more for that ticket. Oh, and there's no parking at all. A hidden gem! Locus provides an array of yummy drinks with a sweet clean ambiance. There's also a bunch of games that you can play with friends! The biscoff drink had me salivating. Just an fyi when ordering they'll ask if you want it made with coffee or matcha I chose matcha and I wasn't disappointed! I definitely wish there was more biscoff flavor though, towards the end the biscoff flavor wore off. The cloud matcha latte was really delicious! If you're new to matcha, and aren't fond of bitterness the cloud matcha provides the right amount of sweetness!! The lady taking our order was super sweet and attentive. To start off with the cafe look and ambiance it's beautiful, clean and very homey. It smells amazing in there and I was pleasantly surprised with the variety in the menu. I live dubai strawberries and I have been to many places trying them and I'd say the one here rank somewhere in the middle. They were pretty good but the portioning was a little disappointing for the price. The crepe was delicious although I would say the chocolate is laid on a little thick I still enjoyed it! The reason I'm giving a 4 instead of a 5 is due to the fact the service was very slow for how empty it was. I went in November when it was pretty new but I still expected it to be somewhat faster. So I've been in here twice already. I gotta say the drinks are pretty good . I tried the hot coffee and cold matcha drinks. It's so yummy and sweet . I haven't tried the desserts yet . This cafe is soo cute! Really aesthetic and had a nice cozy feel. I will say though the drinks are mid at best. Unfortunately my coffee was undrinkable as the shot was clearly burnt and it was extremely bitter, it was also lacking in sweetness. My partner said his drink was good but for 9 dollars I would except the milkshake to be made out of real fruit. The color makes me think it could be some sort of strawberry syrup and tbh for the price it doesn't seem fair. I will say the staff was extremely friendly and helpful so there is that. I'm extremely disappointed with my experience at Locus Café in Tacoma. I ordered the Toasted Marshmallow drink, and it was honestly one of the worst coffee shop experiences I've had. First, the drink was completely flavorless -- it tasted like 80% ice with no coffee flavor at all, even though they advertise that it comes with a shot of espresso. I could barely taste any coffee. The pickup process was also disorganized. They never asked for my name when I ordered. They brought my sister's drink directly to her, but I had to wait an extra 10 minutes. When I finally asked about mine, they said it was "already ready," yet no one had called a name or made any effort to get it to me. On top of that, they forgot the marshmallow -- which is literally part of the drink's name. They didn't even notice until I pointed it out and requested it. The cashier then added a regular, medium-sized marshmallow, quickly toasted it, placed it on top of the plastic lid, and called it "ready." It felt careless and unprofessional. For the price and the small size of the drink, the overall experience was terrible. Between the lack of flavor, poor organization, and minimal effort to fix the mistake, I definitely would not recommend this place. read more

It was really busy when I got in. I had just left Harbor City next door going to Dimsum with my family and saw this place opened recently. I love it already; the space is a little tight when it's busy but it's big enough that there's ample seating for a small hangout. The coffee is pretty strong and the menu looked so bomb! I was so excited to try this place but it was a miss for me. The ambiance was great but the food and drinks... I got the banana pudding matcha and I was hoping for a real banana flavor but it was clear they used artificial syrup that tasted like laffy taffy and the matcha was from concentrate. After 2 sips I brought it back up to the counter to see if it was possible to exchange it and the staff said they can alter it but not change it so I asked them to toss it if that's my only option. My group also got pancakes and a crepe to share. They both were smothered in sauce to the point it felt like we got sauce with a side of crepe/pancake not the other way around. I don't think any of us will be coming back unless there are serious changes to the menu unfortunately. I hope management changes things because it definitely has the potential to be great but isn't there yet. read more

The chocolate was rich, smooth, and not overly sweet, and the strawberries were fresh and juicy. The combo was giving luxury dessert vibes. I went my first time around a month ago and the drinks were okay, not great. I had to wait 30+ minutes for two drinks which is ridiculous because they weren't even busy. On top of that, people who came after me, got their food before I got my drinks. I came back for a second time today. No customer service unless you're white apparently. No greetings or thanks you's. Like others have said, the coffee (I got the Mr Locus) was underwhelming and tasted more of milk then it did coffee, but I also got a crepe and the Dubai strawberries and they were both AMAZING.
