Just left both of my dog's at this place. I have never had an issue until yesterday. I made it perfectly clear 3 times in a row that I wanted to take my dog's back one at a time. And was still forced to take both of my dogs back at the same time. I had several different reasons for wanting to take my dogs back one at a time and what I wanted didn't matter. I wanted to be able to say goodbye to my dogs one at a time as I have always done because thats how I trained them. I also have a bad elbow and didn't want my dog pulling as hard as it could to get ahead of my younger dog. My oldest dog knows it's alpha and normally leads. And just like I expected my dog was pulling my bad elbow and I had to say goodbye to them both at the same time. Now my elbow is in pain and I am honestly upset that the person even tried forcing their way after I told them perfectly clear 3 times in a row no ill take them back one at a time. Without even asking me why the individual decided whats was best for her and what I had to say didn't matter. After the individual saw and heard me scold my dog for pulling she then decided to let me lead. While I was in the process of putting the beds down for my dogs what does the individual do? Closes the gate on me and latches it. I am claustrophobic and get overwhelmed easily in tight areas not to mention loud areas. So I gave my dog's a hasted goodbye which most likely made them feel like they did something wrong. I don't understand why my wishes couldn't be respected. When I pick up my dogs I am making sure they note my account that I will only take my dogs back one at a time for now on. read more

Disclaimer: I'm not a picky person. As long as my dog doesn't die at the hands of the kennel company and she eats all her food/takes her meds, I don't really care how my dog is looked after. They only charge me $16.50 a night (meaning you aren't charged for the day you pick them up, unlike the kennel i mention right after this) for my dog to stay there which is the cheapest I've found in the area, MUCH better than Country Comfort in Shrewsbury that charges $25-30 a day. I follow the kennel lady to the kennel my dog goes in, say bye to my dog, give her my dog's supplies and I leave. Then I come pick her up and pay the low price. As long as it continues to be this simple and cheap I will continue to use this company. read more

I've boarded my dog here twice... first time he was upset and just figured since we left. We brought his own food and toys... the second time was for a week and the first thing I noticed was how much weight he lost. We also didn't get all of his toys back. The staff doesn't help take anything all the way back to the kennels. They seem ok, with an indoor area and an outdoor run. I think for the price is OK but I'd be worried to keep him here anything than a night or two due to the weight loss. Also after reading other reviews I'm more hesitant now for sure. read more

We have been boarding our dogs here for over fifteen years. Their facilities are very nice and they are extremely accommodating regarding bedding, food, and other special needs. We have also used their grooming services while our dogs are there so they are nice adn clean when we pick them up. Still, this is a kennel. There is a certainly amount of dirt that is expected, although this is one of the cleanest facilities that I have used. Our beagle always comes home little hoarse from barking, but that's pretty typical too. read more

We boarded our Golden Retriever at Locust Run for most of her life (she was 14 years old when she crossed the Rainbow Bridge). We also had her grooming done at Locust Run. I can say we NEVER had bad experience in all those years. We went on a weeklong vacations every year along with some long weekends so our girl was at Locust Run many times over the years. The staff was always attentive and caring to our beautiful girl. After our vacations she always looked well-fed and happy. Also, the kennels are well taken care of and clean. I would not hesitate to recommend Locust Run for boarding and grooming. They took excellent care of our sweet girl. read more

I have never boarded my fur-babies and I was very afraid to leave them. So, I called several times asked a lot of questions. Each and every time I called everyone was very nice and assured me my babies would be fine. I have a 7 month Great Pyr and a 2 year old golden/lab. They were able to stay together and seemed very happy. The prices are great and I fell they did an awesome job taking care of my pups. I will use them again. While this is certainly the cheapest kennel I found in the York area, it is not very good. It's not the worst either. The kennels are indoor/outdoor and didn't smell very good, not sure how often the kennel area is thoroughly cleaned... My pup had been to another kennels (which didn't have availability when I needed it) so trying this kennel didn't seem to be a problem. There was lots of dogs barking, but it seemed just normal, the kennels are long and narrow so they have some room to run back and forth but not much else. When I picked her up she was terrified, shaking and clingy, wouldn't leave my side for days. I still don't know what happened to her but she has not had another problem like this until she stayed at one other kennel (check out my review for the Handsome Brook kennel). I will not bring my pup back to this place, I will gladly pay a little more for a significantly better kennel (see my review for Meadows Pet Resort). read more

I was pleased with the cheaper prices since I have three dogs to board (my two and another dog) . I have never boarded my dogs before so I was new to how all of this worked so I called a few times before our trip to confirm everything -including what we bring for the dogs and the total price. We arrived on drop off day, Friday (after 12- so no charge for that day was included) and the dogs stayed for a total of seven nights. Dropping the dogs off was extremely hard when you have three dogs all of their food, toys, and beds walking through the kennel past about 100 other dogs and we received no help from the staff. We came to pick them up Saturday around twelve and when we started to pay the man behind the counter tells us the total price is 360$ or something- and we asked to split the payment (one dog - two dogs) since they are different owners. The older gentleman all but threw a fit! Saying " OMG! You couldn't tell me that before !!!" I couldn't believe his reaction but we just went on like that was normal. Then we were paying for our two dogs and he said the total price was 220$ flat. I'm confused because each time I called asking about the price I was told 192.50$ so that's about a 30$ difference which isn't a huge deal but I would like to know why. So I'm asking the man why it's more and he and another woman start explaining to me it's 8 days and I was saying they were only here Saturday to Saturday so a week. (The confusion was on my part about paying for each day instead of night but that if caused from whoever I spoke too on the phone) And the older gentleman sits there the whole time laughing at me for being confused, for about 5 minutes... Then he continues to be rude by saying "I don't know how you cant get this!" So I tell them "when I called a few times they all told me 192.50$ so why is it higher now?" And of course he is rude again saying " you didn't call anyone here because no one would tell you that!" I just wanted an answer about what the price difference was from - a simple answer not to be mocked and laughed at in front of everyone ESPECIALLY by the man that works there!!!! I am DISGUSTED by their manners let alone their work etiquette! The kennels and our dogs smelled a strong dirty stench and everything was covered in grit-we had to bathe all of them immediately and wash everything we took there. Also all of our dogs have lost a good amount of weight. We measured out their food for how long they would be there, meaning when we picked him up the food would be all gone- except we received about 1/4-1/2 of their food back.... Also noting one of my dogs came back with cuts on multiple parts of her! I'm not sure I will EVER board my dogs again after this experience! I am very disturbed by their behavior! read more

This kennel has wonderful staff. It is clean. They are priced reasonably. I have never had issues boarding my dogs here. I saw other reviews complaining about weight loss and skin issues. Unfortunately some dogs will not eat like they do at home. They also get anxiety. Both of these things will lead to weight loss and skin issues. Ask your vet for something to keep them calm. The staff will gladly give them meds for no extra charge. read more

Great value with clean, spacious kennels. They're incredibly flexible with their hours and availability, and are great with scheduling baths/nail trims as well. We are repeat customers with our 2 beagles (have never boarded our cat), even though it's a little out of our way when we're visiting family. Our family has been using this kennel for at least 20 years. I currently take my 3 small dogs here and use the air conditioned runs. My dogs like going here.... there is no hesitation. The owners and attendants love the animals and are knowledgeable on animal behavior. They also have a groomer on site so you may elect to have your dogs groomed on the pick up day to avoid that kennel smell. Highly recommended. read more

I have been going to this kennel since I moved to York 15 years ago. We have driven across the county to kennel with them. They are so very good with the dogs and cats. They remember them, give them special care and even caught a problem before I did. The owner's and staff are always kind and helpful. The rates are reasonable and they are open every day of the year.
