It is the worst service you can see, I called one hour before arriving to reserve the room and he gave me a price of $ 75 and when he got there he told me that it was 80 okay I decided to pay it and then he gave me he told me that pay 100 because I have to give you $ 20 as a deposit but you don't want to give me any receipt where I'm paying it on the receipt you want to tell me that I'm only giving you $ 70 I'm telling you that I have an emergency and you told me that you didn't run to me If I wanted to rent, there was no document there, I'm with my children on the street, spending the night because of whether we are well because they didn't want to rent me the room, I have the money and I'm with my children on the street

Great place to store your belongings. Nice they provided hangers.

Very basic "lodge"...aka motel. Stayed here for 1 night over the weekend. Got the military rate and saved about 50 bucks. We had clean towels and sheets and comfortable pillows and mattress. The room was clean and spacious. We were barely there though since we were out site-seeing San Diego the whole day. Once we settled in for the evening, we noticed the AC was not in great working conditioned. We had it on full blast and the lowest it would go...and we were still sweating bullets. Also, walls are paper thin, so you may be woken up by suitcases and cleaning carts rolling outside your door early in the morning. Free parking and WiFi. Hotel is close to everything if you want to leave your car and just Uber/Lyft everywhere. But be sure not to leave any valuables in your car...the surroundings were pretty sketch.

There were cockroaches all over the room and what looked alarmingly like a blood stain on the curtain next to the bed. Photos attached. We are not the kind of people who want to make trouble but we expect a certain level of cleanliness even in a basic hotel/motel room and cockroaches in the room are straight up not ok. We felt compelled to write this because others should know before putting themselves in that position. We tried repeatedly to speak to the manager to ask him to make it right and were repeatedly ignored. We explained everything to the staff and they agreed with our concerns, promising that the manager would call us but he never did. We got to the Lodge at 32nd about 9:15pm and had to wait about 30 minutes before the room was ready because it still hadn't been cleaned from the previous night. The clerk at the front desk let us look at a "good room" first which would have been over $200 for the night if we didn't want to wait until our room was clean. We opted to wait because we were already going to be charged $169 for the night. The cleaning staff changed the sheets but didn't do much else. We went in and at around 10:15pm, saw the first cockroach. We killed it (see photo) and immediately went to the front desk to report it to try to see if we could change rooms or even get refunded and leave. The clerk had left for the night, so we were stuck. We were very close to sleeping in our car instead of that room. This lodge is not clean, run by disrespectful and unprofessional people, and immensely overpriced because if they're charging so much for a dirty and shabby room they should DEFINITELY be able to afford extermination and not risk their guests' health. Even giving this place 1 Star seems generous.

I am so happy I found this place via AARP! Located in the heart of the Gaslamp District, I had never heard of this hotel prior to searching. Upon checking in, the desk clerk was very friendly, efficient, and answered any questions that I had. As for the room, he put us up on the top (4th) floor. Room is the perfect size for two people. Very clean, warm, inviting, and has some really cute and convenient amenities such as a pineapple themed USB quad port at the desk, along with a Keurig machine (had I known that I'd have brought my own Starbucks K-cups)! The bed was nice and comfy with lots of soft but supportive pillows and two separate comforter blankets so you're not fighting for covers if you are sharing the bed with someone or your significant other. Bathroom is very modern and clean. A hairdryer is hanging in the bathroom as well. The only item missing was an iron and an ironing board; however, you can request that at the front desk. If you are looking for a hotel with a gym, laundry facilities on site, and a full breakfast buffet or continental breakfast, then this place is not for you; however, if those things don't matter to you {I typically look for those types of hotels during a longer stay) then this hotel is all you need. You also get other unexpected creature comforts such as Starbucks coffee in the lounge along with 4 different blends of water as well as these cute pineapple cookies in the afternoon. Based in Seattle, WA, I am so happy I found this chain as I will be on the lookout and consider staying in other cities. Parking is available in a garage connected to the hotel next door for a fee. Also, bikes are available in the lobby for getting around (not sure if gratis or for a fee). I definitely recommend staying here! One small recommendation for the hotel: provide rooms with a small microwave and mini fridge to reheat leftovers. It all worked out as I gave a homeless guy mine.

It may not be the most updated hotel on the boardwalk, but it has everything you need. The staff is always welcoming, the house keeping staff are friendly and trustworthy, the parking lot is gated and secured by a guard throughout the day, the rooms are always clean the grounds are well maintained, and after all the years of being loyal visitors, we have yet to experience anything negative at this property. I love that the grounds are secure and you can allow your children to go into the courtyard area and play the provided games with peace of mind- knowing that they'll be safe. They provide tons of outdoor seating options and grills for tenants, which makes cooking a breeze. In order to enter from the beach/boardwalk, you must have a room key to enter the premises- another awesome perk. This keeps all the riff-raft out of the area. &At night, they also require a room key to enter through the front of the building- which is a newer feature, and much appreciated. You can leave your beach toys & chairs outside your room without worrying about someone coming to steal it. We have locked our bikes up downstairs in the courtyard area & nobody messes with them. The location is outstanding and the entire staff is welcoming, professional and very hopeful. While it takes some planning for the opportunity to stay at the Beach Cottages it's well worth it. There's a Ralph's right across the street so you can stock up the kitchen and save on food. The staff here is extraordinarily helpful. My wife and I are in our seventies and they are so accommodating and go the extra mile to help with all reservation needs. We're going back in October!

Full Service with a Smile…read more My family and I had a fantastic stay at The Pendry. From the moment we arrived, Logan greeted us with warmth and took our belongings to our room. He remembered us throughout our weekend, which was a big plus in my book. While the lobby may not be as expansive as some other high-end hotels, my focus wasn't on lounging around there. I get that some reviewers might expect more amenities, but this is Downtown San Diego. The design and structure fit perfectly with the surroundings, and I personally appreciate a place that keeps the riff-raff at bay. Once we checked into our room, I found the space thoughtfully designed, and the staff promptly addressed the minor issues we encountered. Though the hotel doesn't boast a massive pool, located on the 3rd floor, the staff provided excellent food and beverage service. The gym, overlooking the pool, was well-equipped for a proper workout, and I was pleased to find that the equipment was in good condition and saw little use. The hotel's restaurants offered delicious meals, making dining a pleasure. Cathryn, with her crossed key pins, was an outstanding concierge. She provided invaluable advice on local beach spots and dining options. After making a poor Yelp choice, she came to my rescue, finding great restaurants in both the Gaslamp Quarter and Little Italy that suited our specific preferences. If you're looking for a full-service hotel experience, I highly recommend checking out The Pendry. It is a full-service hotel, so please be kind and tip the staff.

One small gripe: We were locked out of our room probably because we requested late check out and tried getting in after 11am (something needs to be done to prevent this, it was annoying). The valet parking was around $70 so we found a parking lot a few blocks away. The walk wasn't bad so a good alternative. The location is close to the convention center and stadium, but if you're not coming to SD for those places, I wouldn't say this is a central location. I booked through Chase Sapphire Reserve The Edit and got the following perks: 1. Upgrade to higher floor room 2. Amenity (a box of chocolates) 3. $100 credit (used on lunch at Provisional Kitchen) 4. $60 breakfast credit (used at Provisional Kitchen) 5. Early check in (got in at 1:30pm); late check out (12:30pm) Honestly a good stay but without those perks, I'd rather book elsewhere not in downtown with options for parking.

The beds are soft and springy so just be aware of that if you're used to firmer beds. They also gave us firmer pillows (non down) which was great. Bell hops are friendly! Valet was quick and easy, but super pricey at $70/night. Having a coffee shop, restaurant and bar onsite was great. Depending on the location of your room, it can be loud all night! Unfortunately, my experience with the billing issue was disappointing. The hotel overcharged me $140 for an extra night of parking that I did not owe. Instead of proactively correcting the mistake, I had to spend part of my evening calling the hotel multiple times to get the issue addressed. I eventually spoke with Vee, who handled my call regarding the overcharge. What was most frustrating was that the error was made by the hotel, yet there was little effort to compensate for the inconvenience. As a courtesy, I felt the hotel could have waived the third night's parking charge given the time and effort I had to spend resolving a mistake that wasn't mine. My time is valuable, and having to dedicate part of my evening to fixing a billing error left me feeling that guest satisfaction was not a priority. While the property itself is nice and some staff members, like Jules, provide great service, this experience left me questioning whether the hotel truly values repeat customers. I hope management takes situations like this more seriously in the future.
