We stayed at one of their suites off the premises from the actual hotel/suites. We did not eat the breakfast that was offered so I can't speak to how good or plentiful it was. There WAS a baby kangaroo in the office when we checked in/out. It was so adorable. Okay first The Suite: It was a three bedroom suite. Slept 6 people comfortably. The backyard was huge! The fire pit was a great bonus. Inside there was a fireplace that we utilized on the first night... one issue was apparently a wasp nest was inside of there so we got a few unfriendly and unwanted visitors and these wasps were HUGE! So... maybe next time they could warn us or get rid of it before hand, it was scary for me because I'm deathly allergic. Anyway, the place was clean. Smelled ok. It was stocked with towels, hair dryer, and pots/pans/cups/silverware. Across the street was a beer distributor and of course a dollar general right down the road within walking distance. THERE IS NO WIFI. Just for future reference. It wasn't a big deal but it would have maybe helped a bit. Second The Service: The people at the check in office were not the most friendly. So many things about my stay here were disappointing. Most notably, I was extremely upset to discover that this hotel is connected to a roadside zoo. When I booked and paid for my room through a third-party site, this was not disclosed. Had I known, I absolutely would not have stayed here or financially supported a business connected to something I find abhorrent. Then, on my first night, I was outside walking my dog when a Border Collie or similar dog came charging toward us. I went to the office to report it, only to find out that it was the owner's dog. The woman at the desk told me that he regularly lets the dog run loose. Overall, the experience left me extremely uncomfortable and disappointed. Yuck to all of it. read more

My roommate and I booked one of their suites for the night on 01/10/2019. It was suite 121. The suite was located about 3-4 miles away from the actual hotel. When we went to the main hotel to get our keys, we were greeted by a semi-friendly staff but a beautiful building and a very nice gift shop. (You receive 10% of the gift shop when you stay there.) The first problem was when we were checking in. The lady didn't explain very well on how to get to our suite and didn't have a map to guide us. She didn't even give us an address. After checking in, we went to the suite and find it, I was pretty disappointed that it was right beside the Pennsylvania Turnpike. It was very loud when you got inside the room as you could hear every car and truck that passed by. The room was very nice and extremely clean. We had a hot tub in our room, nice rustic furniture and a "home" kinda feeling. Some of the wallpaper was peeling off in the bathroom but that wasn't a big deal for us. We hung out, went to Walmart to get somethings and came back to our suite. We decided to cook dinner and made pizza. We ate what we wanted and left the rest on the stovetop while we stepped outside for a cigarette. My major problem was when I came back inside. We heard something moving, looked over and a mouse was eating our pizza on the stove. Now, I don't have a problem with a little field mouse but I certainly do NOT want him inside my hotel room eating my dinner. We decided to just remain there for the night and we just scared off the mouse. Bed was NOT comfortable but the blanket was very soft and warm. I'm not writing this review to scare you away from renting one of these decent suites, but just letting people know that they might have a little friend spending the weekend with them. It's just a mouse but the staff definitely needs to take better care of the suites. Between the mouse, peeling wallpaper, (and the fact that we noticed the suite beside us has a busted window,) the building just needs a little better upkeep. Perfect Getaway! My wife and I are young professionals who booked a room spur of the moment, in the middle of the week. We knew nothing about the place except that it had a log cabin vibe, it's affordable and just an hour away from Pittsburgh. The bedroom has a jacuzzi near the bed and a gas fireplace. It also has a clean restroom with a shower. There is one minor drawback, the wood beams crack and it makes it a little hard to sleep if your a light sleeper but if you want the Pirate Ship experience then it shouldn't be a problem. With an overnight stay you get discount tickets to Hidden Treasures animal park located just across the parking lot. This zoo, was amazing! You get real up close and personal with a lot of exotic animals that you would see at city zoos. read more

Great service, kitschy, super cute decor, clean rooms. They have a really nice zoo next door also. I grew up in the era of the terrible roadside zoo, and this is so much better. Cages were clean even if some were a little small. The staff seemed to really care about the well being of the animals. Loved our room! Adorable fuzzy bedspreads, big solid wood bedposts. It was wonderfully quiet, even though there were people next door and we were by the stairs. They had a fire at their feed barn this week, and the staff seemed a little stressed about that - can't blame them! They were still wonderfully helpful even though we checked in around 1 am. I would go back, and plan on at least a couple hours at the zoo. read more

Oh, Yelp, how I adore you. Scene: It's a dark and rainy night. Matt and I are driving with our puppy on the PA Turnpike. We can't see jack through the fog, I'm terrifying Matt by humming the Psycho "driving" theme (la la la la LA laaa la...), and we know we need to stop for the night. But where? I like kitschy. Matt likes comfy. We both like, um, in-room jacuzzis. And it's 12:30 a.m., in the middle of nowhere, and we have a dog. Enter the Monocle. Some place 20 minutes away has great reviews. Pet friendly? Check. Affordable? Check. Giant jacuzzis in every room...check??? And holy Jeebus, it's a safari-upholstered wood paneled antler motel bordering an eleven-acre wild animal reserve. We call the number. The owner, coincidentally also named Matt, is asleep but wakes up to let us in. And a mind-boggling 8 hours ensue. First, there are no pet rooms left, but Log Cabin Matt sneaks us into a non-pet one rather than leaving us in the cold. The room is plush and comfortable and decked out in righteous Dwight Schrute wolf pack decor. There is a huge jacuzzi. And there is a park full of tigers and snakes literally in the backyard. Never in my wildest dreams did I dare hope that motels like this still existed. I haven't even mentioned the gift shop full of giant plush snakes, ladybug costumes, and (inexplicably) leather saddles. All less than 15 miles from skiing and Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater...starting at $104 per night. I have a new favorite motel on the East Coast! read more

This was one of the "found this place by chance, but so happy we did" experiences. My boyfriend and I were on a road trip and one stop was to visit Falling Water. We figured we could just find a hotel or motel nearby to spend the night. Well, everyone seemed to be full that night, until we got to the Log Cabin Motel. This place has character, is extremely clean, and there was a jetted tub in our room! They do provide a breakfast. It wasn't anything amazing, but it did the trick. But, the all wood log cabin motif is very well done. If you are in the area, stay here. You will be happy you did. read more

The rooms are large, clean, and smell good. They are well-appointed with in-room jacuzzi tubs. I somehow got room #112, which is ADA compliant. It had low switches, low sink, and walk-in shower. I really enjoyed this property except that I heard every footfall of the folks staying above me. Night and day it sounded like they were about to come through the ceiling. It made it hard to sleep at night. Next time I will rent one of their free-standing cabins instead. read more

We booked 3 separate rooms since we were a large group about a month in advance. Each one was very clean, spacious and comfortable. The decor was pretty rad. The TV situation and WiFi worked well. The bathrooms were nice and the beds were extremely comfortable. The noise factor wasn't an issue and we had a room right by the stairs. We checked in around 10 p.m. and the girl who was working at the time seemed a little bothered or frustrated. She wasn't exactly rude, but had an attitude. We are from Texas, so we asked her about nearby places and she was annoyed. I understand that it was late, and she mentioned she was almost about to leave, but she could have been a little more sympathetic after we traveled all day. Added bonus: Baby Kangaroo in the gift shop, and it borders an entire park of different animals. The zoo is clean and our kids loved it. We will definitely be staying here again. read more

Jetted tub in the room!!!! Like the previous reviewer, I also happened upon this place by chance. After Boston shut down all flights... ever.... because of the big snow storm, I had to meet my long distance bf at a half way point. This place just so happened to be it. After all the stress from cancellations, changed plans, and driving, the log cabin motel had the perfect kind of charm to just unwind. The rooms have that old cabin rustic feel, and are cozy and warm. The only thing that the rooms are in want for is a coffee pot in the suite (not for me but for my grumpy boyfriend who has a heart attack unless he gets 3 cups straight to his face asap in the am). Although, in their defense the free breakfast layout did provide coffee. read more

Great deal! We stayed here one night for $150 which included 2 tickets to Idlewild and 2 tickets to the zoo (Living Treasures). We were able to buy discounted tickets for our 4 year old as well at the front desk. The rooms are quite spacious especially with the cathedral ceilings. We have 3 little kids so I was worried about staying in the room and feeling like sardines. This place was great as we set a Pack n Play up near the bathroom, yet we still had plenty of space to move around. They have a table against the wall which was great to eat from along with a nice clean bathroom. I also love the decor in this place. We were on the 2nd floor which has a nice balcony for the kids to play on and chairs to sit on. This is one of those places that would be nice to stay at 2-4 days. They also have free breakfast which is your basic waffle, yogurt, cereal, fruit, and pastry breakfast. I just wish they had breakfast a little earlier for us early risers. They are doing construction as well so I believe it will only improve. In the morning, one can hear the lions roar which makes you feel like you are not in the Pennsylvania mountains. For the value of what we paid, this place was great. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of some hotels but gave us a greta night of sleep. read more

We stayed here for one night. It was exquisite! The room was very clean, staff was friendly, and it was truly a quaint room. The wood is amazing- though the stairs may be tough for those with leg to lung issues (they don't all appear to be equal/standard). We booked this room because they boasted pet friendly suites. The description said that the suites were located 2 miles from the main hotel. It did not mention that it was located between the turnpike and another major road way. The cars and trucks zooming by made it impossible to sleep! Seriously the porch has a direct view of the turnpike. We felt very misled by the room description. The cabin has a whirlpool tub, and a full kitchen which is great. However the room smells awful and the many air fresheners inside only made it worse. Unless you can sleep through anything, skip this place. My family and I stayed at this family-run motel on the property of an animal park for one night, and had a terrible experience. While the room was cute and decorated with a log-cabin feel, we immediately realized the walls looked like they were made of wood, but might as well have been made of paper. We heard our neighbors conversations and TV as if they were in our room with us. There were several bugs in the room including a large bug on my son's pillow as he was falling asleep and a bug in the shower. Worst of all, my son woke up the next morning with bug bites all over his neck and arms, as if a bug had walked straight across him and taken a bite with every step. Over the next 5 days, the bites became so bad that he had to go on prescription medication. The doctor reviewed every bite, showed me a picture of bedbugs and said with a high degree of certainty that it was likely bedbugs. I spoke with the hotel manager several times and he was extremely thorough in proving to me that they were not, in fact, bedbugs, even calling in a professional inspector to be sure of it. He took the utmost care and concern in making sure his hotel did not have bedbugs, but took no care or concern about me as the disgruntled customer. Not once did he apologize to me or offer to reimburse me for the room. Only when I pointed this out, did he say the words "I'm sorry" and of course he would refund the room. Instead, he was defensive, condescending, and completely forgot about the customer. Do yourself a favor and pay the extra $20 to stay at the Holiday Inn down the road. You'll be glad you did. read more

The room is extremely spacious for ~$45 on a weekday night. A few downsides are that it's 30 minutes from Fallingwater and not very well maintained -- when I was there the toilet overflowed and the water came out scalding hot when I first turned on the tap. read more

If you like to wake up at 6:30am, or if you're deaf, you will love it! In the summer it's full of families with young kids who like to wake early, talk loud and bounce around, all fine because they're kids, but the construction of the place makes sound travel from room to room for some reason so you hear everything even several rooms away (I guess). The plumbing is loud too. Anyway it's too noisy to get much sleep here. The check in was plain weird. They've got some kind of zoo thing going on, there was a small line to get in when we arrived, and you have to squeeze past that line to get to the check in counter. The woman who checked is in was, let's say 'having a bad day', although my gut says she has a lot f bad days. Not pleasant. The rooms are comfortable and clean though, if you're lucky enough to be here by yourself with no other guests around you'll probably give it more stars. read more

Took grandkids, 2 & 5, to Living Treasures and stayed at this motel. Worst experience ever. At 11:45 PM, the people in the room below us arrived and the noise from them first talking outside and then inside the room was like they were in our room. Then at 12:45 AM, two women were talking outside until 2:00 AM and they sounded as though they were also in our room. There must be no insulation in the walls nor reminders to ignorant people staying at this place, that it is intended for sleep!!! I would NEVER stay at this horrible place again. Even the Living Treasures was a disappointment....go to the site near New Castle, PA as it has a playground and is much larger/more animals AND is better experience. I was in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania visiting family. We all decided to venture out and explore other parts of Pennsylvania. On our way through Donegal we saw Log Cabin Lodge and Suites. We decided to spend the night there, since we wanted to spend more time in Donegal and we love to spend nights at new places. Before we spend the night we went out and searched for exciting attractions. What we found was the Living Treasures Zoo which was unbelievably convenient as it was right next to the hotel. My nieces and nephews were excited to see so many new and interesting animals, even my grandparents were having a great time! We have seen so many wonderful animals and our tour guide was incredible teaching us about all of them. We even got to pet a camel, how cool is that! After our exciting walk through Living Treasures Zoo we decided to get something to eat, we were all starving after an amazing journey! We decided to go to Out of the Fire Cafe, which was very suited for families and was very cozy. We all decided to pitch in and share many different appetizers and shared entrees. Everything about the restaurant was exactly how we liked it. The restaurant was a little ways down the road but we've decided since we are already on a road trip we wanted to go and explore this new place. We decided to sit outside which was the best idea because the view was so incredible of the Laurel Highlands. After stuffing ourselves at the Out of the Fire Cafe we decided to head back to the Log Cabin Lodge and Suites for a night's rest in our comfy Suite. The suite we chose was very large in comparison of all the other hotels that I've stayed at. In our suite it was very uniquely designed and had that comfy feeling to it, it made me feel right at home. The beds were so comfortable everybody just wanted to take a bed home with them! Everything was so clean and spotless which for me it's perfect. The staff and receptionist were all very sweet and recommended us to other attractions in Donegal. My family and I all had a great time on our road trip! read more
