What a wonderful night stay at SpringHill Suites! Before we even arrived, we had a great experience utilizing the app to select our anticipated early arrival time by checking in 24 hours in advance. We called as we were on our way and the staff could not be kinder sharing news that our room was ready early! Upon arriving the team was helpful navigating the area with tips on traffic for attending Steelers Training Camp in the morning. Breakfast had a nice variety but unfortunately no waffle maker that we tend to look forward to if staying in a similar type hotel. We enjoyed the water, tea, and coffee that is available in the lobby throughout the day and night. The hotel was quiet, clean, and accommodating to make our stay worry-free! read more

This is a nice and clean hotel. We also enjoyed the Arnold Palmer golf decor throughout. The room itself had a nice layout with a comfortable couch. The tv was on a swivel so you could watch from the bed or the couch. Shower was nice and hot with good water pressure and includes shampoo/conditioner/body wash mounted on the shower wall. We stopped at the bar one evening for wine. The selection was limited as they were out of many choices for red wine. The bartender was friendly and accommodated us as best as she could. Breakfast was decent. The waffles tasted like pure sugar so you might want to avoid those. They also offered scrambled eggs and sausage one more and breakfast sandwiches another. The standard bagels, cereal and fruit were also available. Coffee was good. Michele was working hard in the morning keeping things stocked and fresh. read more

I'm giving this place 1 star because they had a fitness room and breakfast which was subpar. My husband and I were visiting his family and needed something nearby. I know this is a chain hotel but even those need to be held to a certain standard. The room had mold (black) in the bathroom and soap scum all over the corners of the shower stall. Even after I called to have housekeeping come clean - we came back that afternoon with the shower still not clean and dirty mirrors. The photos show some patch work on the ceiling of the bathroom. No ventilation whatsoever... I could go on and on but save yourself time and money - go somewhere else. Just gross... read more

The service was impeccable. They sent a shuttle to pick me up just before midnight at the airport car return and a shuttle to take me to the Amtrak station the morning after. Both times, the shuttle arrived within a few minutes after my request. Once at the hotel, the woman at the front desk (Veronica?) was gracious and efficient. Checkin and checkout was a breeze. The room was spotless and spacious. The workspace was very comfortable with all the right lighting for computer work. Look no further if you need to stay near Latrobe, PA. read more

Amanda at the front desk was terrific, very pleasant and helpful. She was really nice to our son who is only 18 months. Ashley who was being trained by Amanda was very nice as well. Michele at the breakfast bar was friendly and made sure everything was stocked. The pool was clean, towels were readily available. We didn't go to the bar but they had music both nights we were there. Rooms are spacious, we had plenty of room for our sons pack and play, the "living room" area was his bedroom. The bathroom is a bit different as the toilet is in one small room and the shower is in another small room but they aren't connected. Water pressure and how hot the water is are two things I always look for - both get an A from me. The only downside to this location is you aren't in walking distance to anything. read more

My 16yo daughter and I stayed here when visiting Saint Vincent college. First off, the hotel is easy to get to. It is behind a couple of strip malls off a major thoroughfare. There is a back road that runs behind the shopping centers so you can get to some restaurants and stores without having to go on the main road. The lobby is clean and bright. The elevators are easy to get to whether you park in the front or the back. There is an evening lounge in the lobby which I did not visit, but it looked very nice. There is 24hr coffee, hot water, and iced water (with orange or lemon slices) in the lobby. All the staff we met were friendly and helpful. The pool is small. When my daughter visited she said it was empty. She did remark the water was a little too cold. Also, it only goes to 4'5" which is nice if you have little ones. The room appeared new and modern. As you enter the room there is a "kitchen" station where you have your fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and ice bucket. We didn't realize it at first, but there were paper plates and eating utensils in the microwave. (I suggest they put them on a shelf above or below the microwave so you can see them.) The coffee maker was old and sputtered alot. We used it to heat water for tea and ended up getting hot water from the lobby. (We could have heated water in the microwave, but since we were coming back from the pool, we got our hot water in the lobby.) BEWARE: There is a bottle of water on the counter for the coffee machine, but they will charge you $2.50 for it. That is disappointing since other chains such as Best Western provide bottled water for free. Fortunately, we had our own bottled water. As you enter the room to your left is a nice seating area and work desk. Go straight on to the beds. The TV is in between both areas and swivels so you can watch from bed or couch. The bathroom is set up strangely. It is split into two separate areas with the closet in between. In one area is the toilet and a sink. In the other is the shower with a sink and vanity combo. The advantage is that if someone needs to potty while another person is in the shower, you don't have to wait. The disadvantage is that if you potty before showering, you have to go in the first room then in the other. Also the doors don't appear to lock. DD and I decided if either door was closed it was in use so don't enter. We slept well. The beds and sheets were comfortable. The pillows were a bit too soft, but they give you extra so you can stack them. The drapes closed firmly with no gaps so no light got in. The breakfast was very nice. The first section had an oatmeal station with various nuts, chocolate chips, and brown sugar available as toppings. There were scrambled eggs, link sausage, shredded cheese, and salsa. Next was the bread station with bread, bagels, english muffins, lemon tea bread, and blueberry muffins. Toasters and toppings were available. There were four types of cereals. A mini fridge with a couple kinds of milk and several flavors of Activia yogurt. To the side was a station I called the European station. It held sliced meats, cheeses, and hard boiled eggs. There were also several juices available. Bonus: They have a free shuttle which will take you up to 3 miles away. Since there are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby, the shuttle is a nice service. I do wish there were more towel hooks on the shower side. The towel rack in the toilet room is over the toilet paper so don't hang a wet cloth unless you want wet t.p. Also the tp was quite rough so you might want to bring your own. Overall, a very nice stay. We will be back. read more

My family and I were visiting a friend in Latrobe. We stayed 2 nights here. Pros- staff were nice and convenience of location. Cons- continental breakfast was ugh Room smelled musty upon arrival No pillows or sheets or covers for the 3rd adult using the sofa bed Room was not cleaned between nights Had to request more towels for the 2nd night. Air conditioner would either freeze you or make you sweat. The hallways always felt like a tropical jungle. I've stayed in hotels that were cheaper and nicer! read more

Great choice to stay in Latrobe. 10 min to Idlewild. My son loved the golf themed hotel, wishing to meet Arnold. Service is top notch here. Very friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The layout is cool with toilet room walk in closet and shower room. Only down side is the sliding bathroom doors are noisy. Good free breakfast, Pretty patio for anytime. Fire pit!! read more

We ended up blowing a tire last night and needed a place to stay until morning to continue our 500 mile journey with a pit stop for a new tire in the am, we called the hotel and Morgan was so helpful, we showed up approximately 20 min later and she accommodated us beyond any expectations. The toilet and shower are in separate room from each other with sliding doors. The room is huge with a living room area and microwave and refrigerator. This is a new SpringHill Suites. The interior is exactly like the one I left in Tampa this morning. Huge difference, though. This one actually looks and feels clean. The staff greeted me with a smile. I feel welcome here. This is kind of funny. I don't usually eat the free breakfast so this doesn't count towards my rating. This took place at 0630. I saw a pot of oatmeal. I thought that some oat meal would be good. I opened the pot and looked in. It looked good, not the watery mess most places make. I got a bowl and when I grabbed the spoon, it would not come out of the hardened concrete like mass. I had to laugh. read more

This was a marvelous hotel. We were traveling from Chicago to Pittsburgh and stayed here overnight so we could go to Fallingwater. Everything was great. The toilet and shower are in separate rooms from each other (how European!). Each room has a sliding glass door. The room was large with a living room area. The two areas were separated by a desk which was behind frosted glass that reached to the ceiling. You can control the lighting by the desk. I was able to lower it enough to read at the desk with my husband slept. I'm just sorry that there aren't more hotels this good in major cities! read more

This hotel so perfectly accommodated our needs! We have a big family and we were in route to a wedding, they had two rooms side by side each with two queen beds and fold out couches. The bathroom was separated from the sink lead to easier getting dressed with lots of people. The breakfast was very good but the bar closed super early. Lots of entertainment area we had several friends over to the fire pit wish we had thought to bring a bottle of wine and bottle opener. If we are ever in the area we will absolutely choose here. read more

I did not have high expectations going into my stay, I'm from the area and typically hotels are trashed by high school kids partying in them...however, I was pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness, the modern decor, and the staff was very pleasant as well. Of course it is golf-themed, but being how near it is to St. Vincent I thought maybe I'd see some Steeler gear represented. The bar is also very nice - the breakfast in the morning was substantive compared to other hotels I have stayed at. I will definitely consider staying here again over the hotels that are closer to family when I visit as this hits all my must haves!! read more

The nicest SpringHill that I have ever been to and actually come to think of it probably one of the nicest Marriott's that I have been to including the JW in Bangkok. What sets this place apart from other hotels is that it is impeccable - I don't think I have ever been to a hotel that was this clean. Besides the friendly staff, beautiful decor and a nice layout what makes it extra neat is that it is owned by the man himself Mr. Arnold Palmer. The rooms are large and comfortable with a nice layout. The whole hotel just has a very pleasant atmosphere. One of the perks of staying here is that you can go to the Latrobe Country Club for dinner (for a nominal fee) which also happens to be owned by Mr. Palmer. Overall it was a very pleasant stay and I would definitely stay here again. read more

We only stayed here for a total of 8 hours but the experience was great! We checked in at 3:30am and were greeted by the front desk. She was very friendly and answered any questions we had. We got a room with 1 king sized bed. It was a very clean, modern looking with big windows in it. Which was nice for waking up in the morning. I stayed at this hotel back in August. Just this past week I was charged almost $400 by the hotel without talking to me before they billed my credit card. It has been over four months since my stay there and was very confused when I checked my account. When I called to see what the changes were the receptionist was unprofessional and condescending. I normally stay here every year to visit family but they have lost my business. Stay at Wingate instead. Updated- Since it appears I cannot respond to springhill's comment directly I am adding my response to this. I am new to yelp and don't know all the details to it. I created the account and first used it because of how displeased I was after talking to the "guest services manager" of your establishment, that shows how great he is dealing with the public. The manager didn't care to listen to me that we got rained out while playing golf and left without finishing. His attitude was pretty much we have your credit card on file and make charges how we see fit. Making a charge without the owners knowledge or consent the Friday before Christmas weekend seems unethical and borderline illegal. Saying you tried making calls the days before the holidays when people are traveling visiting family and don't have time to respond is a sorry excuse. Your response is just trying to save face because a former customer called you out on bad business practices. By trying to secretly charge me this amount your establishment will be losing thousands from me staying at other hotels each year I visit. read more

I stayed at this hotel for a wedding this past weekend. I used to go to SVC so not too far away. The hotel rooms are spacious and have the modern feel. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The only two things I had issues with is the A/C in the room when it was not on it got very hot (woke up through out the night temp was set for 68/70). Also, for breakfast they need to invest in some better quality food. The scrambled eggs are the worst I have tasted your best bet is to stick with a bagel. The hotel has a nice fire pit outside and a nice bar area. read more

Well worth every penny spent here, the cleanest hotel ever. The breakfast had many choices available, best I ever seen. The maids went over their normal duties, with a family of four it's a challenge. Kudos to them. One evening they had an acoustic guitar singer at the lobby/bar. He was awesome. I've visited here with family on three trips to Idlewild. The staff are nice, the place is really clean and stylish, and the beds are comfortable. Our housekeeper and the general manager went above and beyond to help us search for a lost item of value, searching trash, pulling furniture away from walls and even taking apart the pipes under our sinks. Great accommodations. Large rooms, modern, clean, refrigerator and microwaves, sitting area in rooms with couch and tables. Good, confortable beds. Nice outside gathering area with gas firepit. Good breakfast, except the eggs are horrible and turkey sausage? Lobby is large and open. Coffee and water with fruit floating around is all that is available after breakfast though. The hotel is very fresh and clean. Lovely decorations. Lots of space in the king bed corner room, even though it was a teeny bit smaller than the other rooms. The king bed seemed more like a queen. The way the bathroom is set up is very cool and different. It felt more like an apartment than a regular hotel room. After arriving late and no restaurants being open, we ate at the bar. Small menu. Sandwiches, soup, salads. Good variety, but the food was not worth the price. I had a grilled chicken sandwich that was $9.50 for a frozen (microwave cooked) processed "chicken" breast. On a semi stale ciabatta roll, topped with lettuce and onion with a side of chips. Not the best. The breakfast was fairly good for hotel breakfast. Eggs, sausage, variety of breads, oatmeal with toppings, fruit, yogurt, and waffles. Staff was very friendly and welcoming and generally a quiet hotel! Would definitely stay here again! read more

Hotel was clean and comfortable for 2 adults and 2 preschoolers. Staff was great. Housekeeping went an extra step and arranged the kids toys in a fun way, they got a kick out of that. Pool was nice. Stayed here twice recently (Sept. and Oct. 2014) Very clean room. Pleasant staff. Awesome shower! Incredible breakfast buffet - scrambled eggs, fresh salsa, fresh spinach, belgian waffle maker, fresh fruit, pastries, cereal, yogurt, etc. They even have pitchers of ice water with fresh lemon and orange slices! There is plenty of seating available which is very pleasant. Great outdoor area with fire pit and a beautiful water feature. Situated on a hill with beautiful views. Had a great stay at this Marriott property. Very clean and modern. Great breakfast. Kids loved the saline pool-no nasty chemicals. In the evening we gathered around the outdoor fire-pit and had adult beverages from the very close and convenient bar. Room was equipped with flat screen tv, fridge and a microwave. Sliding doors ( like pocket doors) separated the toilet and sink room and the shower and sink room from the main room. ( they need to get nylon wheels for the somewhat screechy sliding doors). Toilet was a power flush water saving model so it was a bit loud. The decorating in the public areas was Arnold Palmer. On display were some of Arnie's trophies, shoes, bag of clubs, bag tags and other memorabilia. The walls were covered with photos and Arnie quotes. In one of the meeting rooms are letters from Presidents to Arnie. All very interesting actually!. Staff was excellent. Very helpful and attentive - nice jog folks. Lollipops in the lobby were a big hit as well. We missed out on the warm cookies - drat! Would stay there again. A big thumbs up. read more
