It's right off the highway, so easy to find but also not very private or quiet, since you're completely exposed to the road and can hear the cars passing. The owners run a gas station/convenience store across the street, which is where you go to check-in and pay. They also live on the property. The beach area was nice, even though it was too cold to swim, we did hang out here for some time. They had a big playground, so it's kid-friendly. They also had horseshoes and lots of non-motorized watercrafts for guests to enjoy free of charge, which was nice. We went canoeing, something my German friends really revelled in. We stayed in Cabin 5, which I later discovered was older and smaller than some of the other cabins. It has that cabiny-feel from the pine walls and ceiling, but the bedrooms were barely big enough for the double beds in them and it was just cramped with 4 adults in there. The doors to the bedroom and washroom were thin too so you can hear everyone's business. At the time I thought this was par for the course but upon reviewing their website later I realized they had some bigger, newer cabins in the same price range. There were only one or two other parties staying there while we were there so I'm not sure what the logic was in putting us in the cabin with the smaller rooms. Maybe less cleaning? I especially would have appreciated it the bedrooms didn't have graffiti carved into the walls. Made me feel like I was back at overnight camp as a kid. In front of each cabin is a little campfire area which is nice but again, it's not at all private. You're sitting next to the private road that leads to the cottages. Good view of the lake though. On our first night there, the owner had a huge bonfire out near the beach and another couple visiting from the US came and sat with us by the fire. It was nice to look at the stars and listen to the loons, but of course you can do this at any cottage on a lake in this part of Canada. Overall 2.5 stars, rounded up because I'm nice and this is their first review. I had a good time, but likely because I love seeing my friends and it was off-season, so the resort was quiet. The accommodations were too small and the cabins too close together with no trees between them for me to enjoy returning during the busier summer season.

Private dock right in front of the cabin is really nice. Best of all are the hosts Chris and Tracey. I've been around and these two are the greatest friendliest hosts I've ever dealt with. Really nothing is too much trouble. The surrounding area and water are beautiful. Fish won't jump into your boat but they are there. I will definatley return. On a scale of 1-10, you truly are a 25!…read more I've just returned from my 7th year in a row, week-long stay at Arowhon Pines, where perfection is the watchword, where attention to detail is evident at all levels, from the continuous renovations that blend into the environment so well you'd think they'd always been that way, to the lovingly prepared food always with a new twist every year, to the friendly and helpful housekeeping staff, to the hardworking kitchen and dining room staff; to the groundskeepers and maintenance men, whose invisible presence is felt in all the beauty, cleanliness and perfection around the property. Nothing is too much trouble for the approachable yet unobtrusive staff. I ate well, slept well, played well and worked well. Heaven couldn't possibly be more beautiful or more perfect. Coming back is always like coming home to an amazing family. It's my annual pilgrimage for rest, rejuvenation and restoration, while the Arowhon muse helps me write up a storm on my books and blog. (Late to review) I…read morewent here with 4 of my friends for a friend's birthday at dinner time. My friend graciously paid for everyone (yay!!) and it was $75pp for an all you eat meal. It was delicious and scrumptious. The appetizers and desserts are the highlight for sure - there's sushi, chicken wings, sandwiches, a variety of dips and veggies, soup etc etc. For the entree, you can eat two entrees, so I got the steak and fish. The steak was great but the fish could use more seasoning. The desserts were so great - full selection from mousse to date squares. After the meal, you can sit outside in the balcony and it's truly beautiful. Algonquin Park at its finest. It was definitely one of the best meals I've had this year. We sat for too long and they shut off the lights at around 9:30pm for the main lodge and that was our cue to leave. :)

This is a nice cottage resort near Windermere up in the Muskoka area. Some of the cottages are more…read morerustic and some of the cottages are more updated and have a luxurious feel. The place itself is a cottage so it's not fancy by any means but there are plenty of amenities lots of pedal boats chaos canoes standup paddleboard's trampoline for children to play on a playground a large field picnic tables fire pits etc etc. You just have to remember to bring your own paper products soaps beddings and good. There is no restaurant or places to buy food in the near vicinity. It's probably a 15 minute drive or so to get to the nearest town. The cottages are very clean and tidy there was no bugs or anything besides the usual mosquitoes outside but even then we went in early spring so there weren't that many due to the cooler weather. A lot of people bring their own firewood but they do have firewood for sale by the barrel for 20 bucks if you need it. Overall we enjoyed our stay. It is about 20 minutes to Bracebridge.
