The bar and restaurant is closed again, leaving the only option the rooftop. Last week I visited the roof top and found they didn't anticipate the weekend of activities in La Crosse. Every time we asked for a simple cocktail, it was oh we don't have cranberry juice up here,or simple syrup like it was unattainable?? It was like everyone was grumpy, like they were annoyed. I take this to mean the management is sloppy and the wait staff has to constantly improvise. It's not like the hotel has 24 floors? Asked for shaved Parmesan, for the pizza. The bar service acted like I was asking for moon cheese! Grudgingly they said no we don't have any here in the rooftop bar. At this point I noticed the manager standing sentinel and rather arrogant, stating that he "doesn't like cheese ", so I guess nobody does?

This review has taken me some thought to write. At first impression the room in the building all…read morelooked nice and very cozy. The bed was mediocre, pillar, pillows, mediocre for comfort, wise. I would say mediocre all around for this hotel stay. But after being there a couple of hours we noticed that there were many safety precautions, dangerous things that could happen. We stayed in the family room as that was the only room that was left. I actually ended up being electrocuted by the outlet just by plugging in my power cord to charge my phone. The outlet box was just a silver box. It didn't have a plastic cover over it and definitely at a Child's within a Child reech so that can be scary. I did let the front desk know of the situation. They did ask if I was OK. They said they would check it out as I never had this problem before I just wanted them to know of the situation I didn't want anyone else to get hurt. We also noticed that there were nails and screws sticking out at a child's level of the wall which can be dangerous. otherwise the area of the neighborhood was so cute in old town feeling the food we went next-door to the brewery which was really good. All in all we would not go back to this hotel. The concept is cute and fun, but we would not be back

After…read moreliterally driving all night into La Crosse for a family medical emergency, we were greeted by Keisha at the front desk who was understanding and reserved for us the perfect room. What we though would be a few days trip ended up being a month-long roller coaster ride and through it all, the Grand Stay was incredibly accommodating. My brother, sister and I stayed in a 2-bedroom suite, which is spacious, comfortable and well-appointed and the kitchen was most helpful. Taylor & cleaning crew swapped out towels and took out trash when needed, Tracy, Tiffany & Monica handled last minute revision updates without hesitation, and Anthony kept us laughing at breakfast. When running into Justin (maintenance), he was always sure to ask if everything is ok. The 3 of us would begin our day very early in the morning in the back of the breakfast area getting work done on our computers, then upon return, very late into the night, in our unofficial office and Gina always made sure we had fresh hot water for our tea. The hotel is located on the beautiful Mississippi River and is within walking distance of the historic downtown area. Our room was clean, the breakfast hot and the lobby/community areas relaxing. Oh - and thank goodness for on-site guest laundry! The crew at the Grand Stay all worked together to make a difficult time as easy on us as they possibly could, and I will even go as far as to say we made friends during our month together. The beds are amazing and comfortable. our one coolant was a mini frog that was constantly sounding like pigeons were trapped inside. The included breakfast is not your powder eggs and make your own waffles. They have real scrambled eggs, quiche, with these amazing sausage link. They have that coffee machine that grinds the beans just before the cup is made and coffee access is 24 hours. The staff again are outstanding. and friendly.
