Great tapas, simple and spectacular. We went with a local friend, he's a foodie and when he reserved at Lolita I knew we were in for a treat. He ordered a little bit of everything and I just can't decide which one was my favorite. Don't miss the Salmon with Greek yogurt tapas; they were so good that I didn't have a chance to take a photo before they disappeared. Tip: plan to go early, there's a line to get in at around 10pm! I'll start this report by saying that we were with a large group that had special attention. So it's really not fair for me to assess his place as an individual customer. But if, as an individual customer of this place, your meal is half as good as it was for our large special group, I would make all efforts to come here. The tapas were outstanding. My favorite was the salmon on toasted bread and the fried eggplant with molasses. The service was outstanding and the atmosphere was personable. I hope to come back one day. Had the best experience coming here!! The servers and cooks are so friendly and knowledgeable. No other place in Barcelona did they attend us this well! The food is amazing!! Every dish we ordered was so tasteful we left all our plates empty. Can't stress this enough i recommend stopping by here at least once when in Barcelona. It was so great we visited Lolita's twice. I arrived about an 1.5hr prior to closing. Ordered their mushrooms, meatballs, fried egg over potatoes with ibérico and shrimp tapas. The only think I really liked was the mango Mojito. Everything else was probably leftover food from the day.....it slightly below average for the area. read more

We had eaten a late lunch and exhausted from a long day at La Sagrada Familia, so we missed dinner. We woke up just in time to do a late night run to the closest tapas place nearest to our hotel. This place closes later but their kitchen close at 12am midnight! The staff was nice enough to let us order a few tapas. We ordered 6 tapas and two drinks altogether. ~42 Euros so pretty pricey. Food were all pretty decent. I had a standard cava which wasn't very good. The mojito caprinha was pretty good. Can't remember all of the tapas. The one that stood out the most was the salmon with honey. It was quite interesting. I love the creative ways tapas are made in Barcelona. More a 3.5 but the waiter who helped us was nice! Tried his best with his English to communicate to us and gave us suggestions for what to order. read more

3.5 stars.... the tapas were really hit or miss. Excellent ones: 1. Bombas --- a fried ball of yummy meaty melty cheesy goodness with cream on top. 2. Iberica Ham -- oh good heaven. Melts in your mouth, with a bit of spice on top. Soooooooo good. Not so good: 1. Fried rabbit ribs. Ok, I know this sounds yucky already, but hey we were traveling and I wanted to try something totally random. It wasn't that it was gamey, it was just dry and over fried. Yuck. 2. Tomato bread --- it's like a chewy bruschetta. Meh. Average: Calamari--- just so, so average. It's a nice place to try out and it's got unusual tapas. I'd stick with the well-known regular places if it's your 1st time trying tapas. Otherwise, it's fun to try new dishes but the dishes are hit or miss. read more

Lessons learned: peak dinner hours in Spain on a Saturday night is ~9:30-11PM. This restaurant is clearly very popular for small and large gatherings, and as we were waiting, we were watching plates and plates of delicious-looking food coming out of the kitchen, so we knew we had to stick it out. After a ~25 min wait, we were seated at the bar, and scanned the menu, which had an extensive variety of offerings. It was difficult to just choose a few! We ended up ordering the following dishes: - Toast with blood sausage and apple compote: good, but not spectacular. The portion size was a little small but we wanted to try for the novelty factor. Blood sausage was sliced thin and was a little oilier than a normal sausage. - Potato-crisp coated chicken strips: was about to pass on this item because who orders chicken strips at a nice restaurant on a night out?? This is a MUST-have and so satisfying after a long day of sight-seeing. The mustard dipping sauce and the salty potato chip coating paired perfectly together! - Tuna tataki: another must have for those who are enjoy sashimi. dipping sauce was great and fish tasted fresh. - Rabbit ribs: this was one of the dishes we were intrigued by as we were waiting and watched several other tables ordered. Of all the items ordered, this one was the most regrettable. While novel, the dish was deeply fried and there wasn't a great deal of meat on the bone. It mostly ended up tasting like the breading. - Strawberry dessert: I believe this was a restaurant special for the night. I believe it was syrup-soaked strawberry with orange zest and honey. Generally enjoyable, but I probably wouldn't order again in favor of the other dessert menu options. The wait staff was very friendly and food was great - would recommend! read more

We decided to visit Lolita taperia a couple of nights after we ate at the excellent Tickets bar in the same district. Whilst it is "modern tapas", I felt the whole experience wasn't anywhere near what was offered at Tickets, yet the prices weren't that different. In fairness, there was a good atmosphere, some of the dishes were very good, and it felt much more "local" than the touristy Tickets, but maybe our expectations had been set a little too high. If you're looking for authentic traditional Spanish tapas, Barcelona isn't the place to come, but if you want to experience modern tapas in the city and can't get a seat at Tickets, maybe give Lolita a try. You could do a lot worse by eating at some of the tourist traps on Las Ramblas! read more

When I first heard about this place, my expectations were very high, and the best part was, as far as the food was concerned, it lived up to the reputation. Its not your traditional tapas place, so be prepared for a little new age.You can't book, so if you get there too late, you may have to wait (although I am told you can book if your group is 8-12 people). Its all sit at the bar, but with a waiter coming around to take your oder. The chicken strips are great, and I just recommend exploring the menu and seeing what you like. If you like tapas, but bored of the traditional menu, then this is the right place. It is a little pricier than some other tapas places, but I think it is worth it. read more

Couldn't have asked for a more satisfying final meal in Barcelona. The staff was very friendly and had no issue with us leaving our bevy of suitcases behind the door. We were seated in a large raised booth near the entrance. We were ravenous by the time we arrived, so we ordered quite a bit. Here's the breakdown: Toast with tomato - I never quite understood this tapa... I always find it fairly bland and uninspired. The bread here had a wholesome crunch and the spread was tangy but mild. Not bad. Patatas Bravas - Some of the best we had in Barca. The sauce had some heat to it and the potatoes were well-seasoned. La Bomba de L'Eixample - We ordered three of these fried meat-and-potato balls. Basically tastes like creamy mashed potatoes with a crunch. It comes with the same tasty sauces as the patatas. Rabbit Ribs with Garlic Mayo - This was the one dish that we could've done without. The bones barely had any meat clinging to them and it was a bit too oily and salty for my liking. Salmon, Greek Yorgurt, and Truffled Honey - These were incredibly tasty, with the sweet salmon and dill contrasting perfectly with the crunchy toast. Wish we had ordered more. Toasted Sanwiches - We ordered one of the grilled sandwiches with sliced ham and Spanish cheese. It was savory and fresh, but super small. Crema Catalana - Lolita's take on Barcelona's famous dessert was class. The syrupy flan was soft and rich...and gone in about three seconds. Sponge cake with Creme Brulee and Liquor - Another phenomenal dessert with four bit-sized servings topped with creamy, caramel goodness. read more

We had a little bit of wait when we arrived, but after 10 minutes we managed to get one of the best seat, at the counter with a view on every side of the kitchen where the food was prepared. We start our dinner with two glasses of Cava while we were looking at the massive menu plus the special on the board. I should have listened to her advice and come twice on that day as it was very hard to select only few things as every thing sounded and looked so good! The first tapas we ordered was La del quimet, it was a nice toast with marinated salmon served on greek yogurt and truffled honey. It was succulent and light, Salmon and honey was a great combinaison and the little taste of truffle add a little extra. Then we ordered one of my favourite ingredients - sobrassada. Usually it is seved on its own, at Lolita taperia it was served with juicy and tasty fresh tomates and oregano. Such a great dish. Even if sobrassada is a very fatty ingredient, the whole dish felt very light thanks to the freshness of the tomato. The dish below was one of the special, apparently Feo de Tudela tomatoes from Navarra are very famous in Spain and very sweet. When they arrived I was a bit perplexe because of the colour, I thought there were not ripe, but they were. A great balance between soft and crunchy and very sweet and juicy. Wished we can find tomatoes like this in the UK. I know what you are thinking when you look at this dish... a basic kind of croque monsieur. It wasn't! El Planxat amb tofona was succulent. It was such a great sandwich mozzarella and boiled Iberian shoulder and truffle matched so well together. Mozzarella was perfectly melted, the bread wasn't soggy, and there was truffle spread all over the Iberian shoulder. We had after La bomba de l'eixample which was fried meat in a potato ball, meat was pulled inside. Again en explosion of good taste in the mouth. When they brought the 'rabas' de pollastre I was expecting chicken and patatas bravas, I was really surprised to discover that the breaded was actually crisps! Crisps were not soggy and or greasy, the whole crusted chicken was very good, I really liked the kurkuma sauce served with it. After all the dishes we were very full, but we thought it would have been a big shame to leave such a great restaurant without having desserts...We shared a creamy cheese and the special of the day : figs and greek yogurt. The cheese was served with a pot of rosemary honey, I was very happy as it was the kind of cheese I liked. The special dessert was delicious, figs were amazing, massive and packed with flavour. We had a little bit of the rosemary honey on the greek yogurt as it was very good. This restaurant was gold, every dish was very good. After the meal, we had difficulty with my friend to decide which dish was the best. I think all of them were amazing. For one time also in Spain I felt like tapas even if they had fat and oil on it, tasted very light and fresh. We were full at the end but it was in a very nice way. We had a great spot, looking over the kitchen where every one was focused on their task and having a bit of fun. Amazing! My friend and I were on our way to another restaurant on our "where to eat in Barcelona" list when we walked by Lolita and saw the place hopping. When we arrived at our original destination there were only two couples there (bad sign for 9:30 on a Thursday night). We decided to go back and check out Lolita. SO glad we did. Amazing flavors, innovative, fun atmosphere. Personal highlights being the a daily special of local tomato and cod salad, the bombs (meat fried in potato casing), and the chicken "nuggets" breaded with chips. The staff was busting ass and would occasionally just walk by seem like they didn't hear us ask for something, then all of a sudden there was the thing we asked for. Always with a smile and enjoyment of working there. A must for a great, non-traditional, tapas experience in Barcelona. read more

We were so happy to have discovered this place, albeit by a local's suggestion. Starting with the fantastic service from both the manager and our waiter. After a short wait, with a glass of wine outside, we were seated at the bar, where we really enjoyed watching all the food preparation. Our waiter talked us through the menu, the specials and we left the ordering in his capable hands. We absolutely loved everything and the flavors were superb, as were the serving sizes. Our wines, which were the house wines, so not expensive, really complimented our meal also. Our stand out favorites were the ensalada rusa, the chicken strips, the tuna was incredible, as were the croquettes. Oh, and don't pass up the line and parsley sorbet, it really was divine! Lolita's was recommended by our hotel and it did not disappoint! Ended up sitting at the bar which turned out to be great! The tapas and service was awesome! Being by myslef I enjoyed talking to the women behind the bar. She was super friendly and we had a lot of laughs. All the staff were super friendly. It was cool watching them make the tapas which I might add were delicious. I was even offered a small bowl of peppers which I think we're fried to try. This review is based entirely on the service. I arrived on a Friday night and walked in. It was concrete chaos inside and the bartender and several servers immediately started to yell at me and gesture back to the door. I can understand English, Spanish, and Catalan, but there was no language in their reaction. These were the gutteral noises of overstressed, overworked, and overheated men. I grabbed a menu and went outside. A minute later, while I was reading the menu, a waiter (previously a yeller) came out to rudely inform me I was too close to the door, and needed to return the menu. I held out the menu and asked if they were still serving food. He scoffed, acted very condescendingly, and said I had to wait in line. He gestured to some people milling around, not in a line. Over the 30 seconds of this interaction he refused to take the menu. So I put it down and went to the "line". A minute later, he pursued to tell me to come pick up the menu and put it back inside. The entire time he was aggressive and demeaning. In the end, I walked off. I understand that the city is overrun with tourists, but I don't think it's appropriate to treat people this way. Yelpers beware, and definitely don't bring a date here! read more

Excellent, inventive tapas at a reasonable price! We ate here twice in our 4 days in Barcelona as it was close to our apartment and the weather was dicey. The chicken strips, dates wrapped in bacon, potatoes brava, and the roast beef with horseradish were some of our favorites. We had tapas in several spots in Madrid and thought they were just OK, after eating here we understood how yummy tapas could be.
