I haven't been in this candy store for a hot minute. My friend and I stopped in today to see if they had Dubai chocolate for sale. I have always liked this candy store. They always have such a big variety of goodies. Walking in, it's hard not to get overwhelmed by all the goodies, colors and displays. We went straight to the display counter to look at the truffles and to see if they had the Dubai bar. We were the only ones in the store. It was quite weird not to see a sales associate for a good amount of time. We located the bar, she decided against the bar since she can get one local for the same price and almost double in size. We walked around the store and looked at all the fun stuff. I love how everything is so organized and clean. When you have multiple customers through out the day going in and out of a bin, it's nice to see that it's clean. I personally don't like candy in bulk cause of potential germ contamination. But honestly, I have boughten candy from this joint and I have never had any issues since they keep it so clean. If your looking for a small sweet treat, Lolli and Pops would be a great store to grab your goodies at. Our even a fun gift for someone that likes sweets. They have a little of everything which is nice! Customer service wasn't the best when we were there. But we didn't stress about it. Maybe next time customer service will be better. read more

I has just finished cleaning my house, and you know what i found a jar to refill at lolli and pops. I drive to the mall so excited to get candy, and turned out they closed 30 minutes early? The website stated 7:00pm i had gotten there at 6:30pm and the lights were off gate was down. Working in food industry that is one thing we are not able to do ever. I'm not a big candy eater so I can't really speak to much of the candy. I sampled chocolate gummy bears and salted caramels covered in chocolate. Both were fine, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get them again. If you have a very refined chocolate palate, I would guess that this isn't the store for you. It seemed like most of the options are mass produced. Perhaps the chocolates behind the glass display case in the front are not...but I doubt it. However, this is a really fun place for kids. Lots of options from the bulk sections to fill up a little bag. My four year old, 'Hungry', was particularly delighted by the walls of gummy bears. Some of the flavors are really fun...like rose or mojito! Mmmm! There are quite a few nostalgic candy options (though not nearly as many as our local candy shops). They also have a few different sections devoted to candy from around the world. The layout is very clean and organized. There seems to be enough space to navigate and things are clearly labeled. The lady behind the counter didn't interact with us at all until we were ready to purchase. This is pretty dang pricey though. The bulk candy came out to $8 and we got maybe 15 pieces (mostly gummy bears and a few small chocolates). It's a nice option when you're cruising through the mall, but if you're looking for speciality candy, I'd probably find a local joint. :) read more

This is old fashioned candy store schtick and I walked in prepared to hate it for over the priced hype that I was certain it would be. After all ,Lolli and Pops is a chain of about 30 stores placed in malls in the U.S. and when merging with (well, taking over) Powell's chain of candy stores in 2014, I expected more of that format. Not to mention I so dislike malls that it makes me cranky to have to go to them to shop. But the vintage yet slightly upscale exterior (directly across the way from Sees by the way) drew me in for a look see. And then the friendly greeting at entry from a delightful young woman, dressed in the uniform garb of white shirt, black bow tie, black and white striped apron and straw hat as one imagines an old fashioned candy store employee would wear turned me from "harrrumph..." sourpuss into sweetened up fan of Lolli and Pops. WARM WELCOME & SERVICE Her name is Rachel and she asked my husband and me two simple questions as she greeted us. "Welcome to Lolli and Pops! Is this your fist time in?" When we answered yes, she continued, "Would you like a tour to learn more about what we have in the store for you?" See how that works? She was so engaging that atlhough I was thinking I could see all I needed to see of a chain candy store on my own thank-you-very-much, I said sure, a tour would be swell. She responded she could even offer us some samples as we toured through. Hang on to that...the samples thing...it will come up again. And as we started our tour she asked about what we liked. Remember the "...for you" comments in her greeting. It continued through the tour, "Do you enjoy chocolate? Do you prefer milk or dark?" and she would vector us to some yummy things to see. It is worth noting every young man and woman in the store, because they were all that on the day of our visit, was equally as warm and helpful in serving customers. They can answer all your questions and they're happy to make recommendations for their favorite things. That great service makes one want to buy things. It is a key piece of retail sales strategy these owners understand. Well done. STORE LAYOUT If you're familiar with Dylan's Candy Bar (the now small chain started with the NYC flagship candy paradise by Ralph Lauren's daughter) Lolli and Pops is a bit like that, although much smaller in scale and without the chaos and pretension of Dylan's. The store is laid out logically if you're on a hunt but still enticingly to encourage gathering if that's what you'd like to do. At the front of the store you'll find the nostalgia section of candy bars you'll remember from childhood...a la Powell's...no matter how young at heart in years you may be. To the right is a proper chocolates and sweets case with delights like truffles and macaron. Left and right and all around are bins with chocolate delights, like the dark chocolate covered espressso malt ball we sampled, and also premium candy bars made by others as well as those made by Lolli and Pops. They even have a section specifically for Asian sweets, a section for popcorn, and a section for novelty and old fashioned sodas. Straight ahead is the "mascot" figure that appears in all Lolli and Pop stores, and it is a big, Oscar-esqe golden "gummy" shaped bear. The room in which it holds court is full of gummies and sours and jellies and licorice from all over the world. Salted licorice coins from Germany. Sour cherry belts from Spain. And if you're the type, like me, who when presented with a bag of gummy bears pulls out all the pineapple ones to eat, this is your place because it offers pineapple gummies all on their own. And here we come back to samples. As she introduced us to the gummy room Rachel told us, "Sampling is encouraged." That's the verb she used. "If you just ask me or..." and here she nodded to her colleague dressed in Lolli & Pops garb standing at the ready in the gummy room, "...or Scott, we'll be happy to help you with a sample from the bins". As if on cue a mom and her adult daughter said to us, "Try the Jalapeno gummy." So we did. Wowza! But it is inevitable that offered a sample of something leads to the buying of it or something else. Which is a darned good reason to have the nice monitor there to assist. TO KEEP IT FRESHENED UP Products are added to and rotated out of the store on occasion so that things stay interesting. THE GIFT THAT FITS EVERYONE Lolli and Pops has a number of different containers that can be filled with the goodies of your choice for gifting. And a unique item is a cool little gift box sized just right to hold one of their specialty premium chocolate bars, that opens like a book to reveal the chocolate, a greeting and a space where you can tuck a L&P gift card in the amount you choose. For the record, I prefer dark chocolate...with sea salt and almonds is a good start...and I can find lots to choose with any amount of gift card you want to tuck in. :-) read more

The manager runs a great store and has a fantastic crew at her side. Everyone is always full of energy and spirit, even during these trying times. There are so many amazing candy options here ranging from nostalgic, foreign, novelty, and even bulk bins of amazing chocolate covered goods. Having frequented many of my lunch breaks to swing by here one can help but indulge a little. I highly recommend the Pearson's Nut Goodie. read more

What a great candy store!!! First of all it is such a throwback to the original candy stores, I mean way way back. It's wonderful!! The store has bulk, candy from the past, and current candies like pez. The people at the counter were wonderful. They have soda in the coolers. Little gift packages you can fill and buy, boxes and pails. I got Keroppi candy. And a Pez for my mom I'd never seen before. Everything is so tempting!! It's a bit pricy though. Bring your money... if I can afford it, you can too. read more

The staff aren't attentive to customers. I've been in the store without ANY staff. What the?? I went to the local store and purchased most of what they sell in bulk for about half the cost. Save yourself the experience and go to See's across the way for chocolates. read more

Two words: Turkish Delight. When my son and I read The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe together, we were fascinated by the scene where the White Witch charms Edmund into an alliance by feeding him enchanted Turkish Delight. Sure the Turkish Delight in the novel has sinister magical properties, but, initially, the White Witch had asked Edmund what he'd like most to eat. And, his answer? Turkish Delight. What is this tantalizing treat that tops a young boys favorite food list? I had no idea. I'd never had Turkish Delight, nor really ever heard of it until CS Lewis. And, sure, we could have Googled it--but where's the sport in that? No. We patiently waited for a delightful Turkish opportunity to present itself. Enter Lolli and Pops. Came here in search of some Christmas confections when I noticed a stamped, somewhat old fashioned looking wooden box on display. What sort of candy is in that charming box, I thought. I approached and read the label, "Sultan's Genuine Turkish Delight." What!?!?! I immediately purchased a box to give to my son for Christmas. Having now consumed some, I can say it's not exactly what I had envisioned. In my head, Turkish Delight was a light, flakey, chocolate-y interpretation of baklava (this is not based on anything but my own fancy), my son also had something chocolate-y in mind. In reality, Turkish Delight is sugar dusted gelatinous joy. The flavors in our box are Rose and Lemon. The lemon is fresh and zesty and the rose tastes like sweet, perfumed flowers (sounds weird, but oddly mesmerizing). My son loves the lemon but is "weirded out" by the rose. I think it's perfect. The only thing that would have made it more so would have been having the box wrapped in a green silk ribbon (buy, hey, you can't have everything). After wandering around the store for some time, I'm not surprised that Lolli & Pops was the candy shop to eventually satisfy my Narnia Chronicles created curiosity. The volume and variety of candy in this shop is astounding. I was also able to find some fun Mario Bros themed candy tins for some Mario fans in my life. They have all sorts of candies from jelly beans to chocolates. They have the coveted dark chocolate covered sea salted caramels as well as some amazing whiskey caramels I found for a whiskey loving friend. Beyond all that, the service is both attentive and swift. I was in during the holiday rush and didn't have to wait in line (not for lack of patrons). The speed of service, while maintaining friendliness, was very much appreciated. Get to it! read more

This brand new candy store is sweet. They have a huge selection of quality chocolates, snacks, candy, and truffles. The truffles are so cute and delicious. They're definitely worth their high end price. Our favorite truffles are; extra bittersweet black cat, cookies & cream, dark caramel macchiato, Mexican hot chocolate,..so far!:)) We'll be back for more! read more

Terrible customer service. I was followed around the store by the same employee, being asked if I needed help finding anything or found what I needed. I was browsing while my friend was looking for a gift for her significant other. The associate shared the promotions with a different tone to other customers around me and used a condescending tone with me. I am absolutely never returning. This store is awesome! I walked in to look around and ended up buying $50 worth of candy! They have a really great selection, tons to choose from. So I love coming here to peruse the unique and somewhat highend products. The macaroons are delicious and its an upscale candy shop for sure. Unfortunately the prices are ridiculous. I mean we are talking products priced at three to five times what they would cost if you bought them online. Its Idaho.....be reasonable. Secondly, the staff at this store are so strange. Awkward, lacking normal people skills, and just down right weird. The attempts at conversation mostly makes me uncomfortable and its semi rude that while you are paying the employees are having conversations instead of doing their job. read more

Wow! This place is fabulous! Three other girls and I came to Boise from Idaho Falls, for girls weekend and we had a nice blast to the past when we walked into this store with our favorite 90's candy! Cece explained the store in detail and helped us the whole time! Then Steven helped us check out and gave me a free mint whopper (?) sample that was so delicious! I always enjoy candy shops. There is something about them that make it seem so cheery, lovely, and bright inside. Oh yea, its the candy and monstrous amount of sugar inside!! This one had candies that I hadn't seen elsewhere. The employees were more then happy to let you sample. The price seemed a bit higher then other candy shops ($13/lbs). But they also had cute boxes that would make great birthday gifts to those special someones :) read more

This is a pretty store in the Boise Town Square mall which offers an assortment of candy, truffles, and macaroons, plus sodas. The staff is attentive and friendly. I bought three truffles and a chocolate petit four. The latter was delicious. The truffles were beautifully decorated however, they were not flavorful. For the $16 I paid for these four items to get nestled in a pretty box, they had better be bursting with flavor. Unfortunately it was not the case which made this experience at Lolli and Pops disappointing. read more

Chocolates were not that great, and the "freebie" we got for spending over &20 was stale. With Sees right across the way I'd probably stop there instead got chocolate. Dtr. stopped in tonight with a couple of friends (who happen to have darker skin). The store had a few customers. Dtr. noticed the clerk staring at them and then sees that she sent someone out to watch them. Then dtr. is told by other friends (who happen to be white and happen to be in the store) that they were asked by the employees to "keep an eye on" my dtr.'s friends. Seriously???? You ask customers to watch other customers just because they happen to have darker skin? Wow. Get a grip! They even asked the woman about having them watched, and she proudly stated that she did. Such a shame that a business owner feels so comfortable showing her racist attitudes. Think twice before supporting this business. And to the elderly woman who was apparently in charge? These kids are all great kids. Senior honor students, in fact. Too bad you can't look past your own racism...if you would, you might actually meet some fantastic people. read more

My daughter & 3 friends (ages 13-14) , who are all incredibly respectful & kind girls, went to the mall yesterday for the first time on their own (with parents located nearby). They went into Lolli & Pops, masked appropriately & carrying bags from purchases made in other shops. They split into two different groups to look at candy as 2 of the girls have dietary restrictions & needed to look at certain kinds. Sherion, a worker there, was immediately acting strangely, following them around and asking the other worker to follow the other 2 girls. She was very rude to them despite their respectful behavior regarding sanitation practices due to COVID. She also made a very disrespectful comment to another patron in the store who was in a wheelchair. 2 of the girls went to the register & paid for their purchases & then returned to their other 2 friends until they were done shopping. She continued to make snide comments to the group and to her co-worker about them. They all went to the register & the other girls checked out, with Sherion insisting on checking out one specific girl. They walked out the door, down the walkway of the mall & pretty soon Sherion followed them, stopping them & insisting on checking all their bags. Being respectful, kind girls, they obliged whilst also calling the parents to come help, as they were scared. She rifled through their bags, found nothing, of course, & she returned to the store. Side note: her mask was being worn on her chin from the time they entered the store despite her rudely asking the girls if they knew there was a global pandemic going on! Meanwhile, the parents arrive & all of them return to the store to discuss the matter with Sherion. The store was closing, so she would only speak to them through the grate over the doorway, still with mask down on her chin. She was very argumentative and unwilling to have a civil discussion about the matter. She blatantly lied about the whole ordeal & stated that the were acting suspicious & like they were on a "heist". She also said they had security camera footage of them shoplifting (despite finding nothing in their bags). She was incredibly rude, untruthful and refused to contact the district manager stating she had just left the store & was getting on a plane. It continues but obviously nothing was resolved. We will be contacting the district manager, mall security & corporate headquarters, if need be. This behavior was completely uncalled for and appalling, not to mention illegal (you can't stop someone after they have left the store). It felt very violating to the girls. I will certainly never step foot in this store again & will encourage others not to, as well! Way to ruin what was supposed to be an enjoyable first experience for these girls. read more

Me and a couple friends entered the store, we were just browsing around with the intent to buy. As we were browsing I noticed the store clerk, white elderly women with glasses and white hair, staring at us the entire time. In fact she asked a couple of my old friends in the store at the time to keep a lookout for us. They were the ones that informed us that they were told to keep eyes on us as they left. As we approached the counter to buy some candy, one of my group mates confronted an employee and he said they were just "looking out" for their store, the older women when confronted replied with a proud "yeah we were". Me and my guy friend are ethnic while the third was a white female. There was many customers in the store and they felt like they needed to keep watch only on our group. I also want to stress that my group and I were very respectful while our time in the store. This is actually the first time I felt disrespected because of my background, especially in Boise where refugees like me are treated nicely and fair. I hope no one faces an experience like me and my friends. read more

Lolli and Pops has a great selection of sweets from all over the world, including green tea KitKats from Japan, Cadbury chocolates from the U.K., wafer cookies from Russia, exotic spiced chocolate from Mexico, and bean to bar chocolate from Mast Brothers in Brooklyn and other well known chocolatiers. They also carry a range of soda pop from other parts of the US, products that aren't usually available in Idaho. The company has its own lovely range of truffles, filled chocolates, and macarons in a glass display case at the front of the store, as well as their store brand chocolate bars, all of which are quite good. Jelly lovers will be very happy at Lolli and Pops, with a wide range of jellies including various liquor flavored jellies. Lots of fun to spend time browsing here, and the store is also open for birthday parties on Sunday mornings. The manager, Amanda, is very knowledgeable about her products and can answer any questions. read more

Let me tell you a story about 3 lovely ladies that made my day super sweet. I was exploring the mall Sunday bored and ready to go home when i stumbled across a bright and festive store. Lolli and Pops grabbed my attention and my stomach so I wandered in and was greeted by one of the 3 lovely ladies whose name was Nicole. She asked me if i had been in before and since i had not she suggested i go on a candy tour,( yes such things exist) and took me through the themed rooms letting me try some of my favorites as well as suggesting some of her own. I figured that was the best part of the day until Lovely lady # 2 grabbed my attention and showed me their truffle case. A truffle case is awesome enough but Amanda knew so much about the truffles and made some amazing recommendation. I ended up with 16 truffles and 2 macrons (theses puffy little pastries that are amazing) plus a bag of their bulk candy. This brings me to lovely lady #3, Dakota who was at the register helping customer with their sweet purchases. When it was my turn to check out she smiled at me knowingly and asked if i had picked out a drink to go with my treats. She suggested the Cheer Wine, so i grabbed one and she offered to open it and i decided that a case probably wouldn't be enough but went for it anyway, I am probably already an addict. I left the store seeing smiles on every face, employee and customer alike and was not the least bit surprised to see them. I will be a loyal Lolli and Pops customer now and forever thanks to the service and experience I had last Sunday. read more
