    The lounging area!

Our wedding at Loma Vista Gardens in Big Sur was nothing short of magical. The venue offers a unique blend of natural beauty and charm that felt elegant yet earthy. Very fitting for us! We had a mid-summer wedding and the lush gardens are such an enchanting backdrop that made our ceremony feel like a fairy tale. The intimate setting allowed us to focus on the love we were celebrating with our closest family and friends. Our guests came in from as far as Lisbon and Buenos Aires. We loved how the property captures the beauty of Big Sur so we could share this with the people who came from afar. The gardens have a peaceful, spiritual energy, which for me is indicative of the Big Sur coast and ultimately why we chose this area and specifically, Loma Vista. The venue is meticulously maintained, with vibrant flowers in bloom and perfect lighting as the sun filters through the trees. The paths, rustic wood details, and surrounding nature made it feel like we were in our own paradise. Cocktail hour was in a garden with twinkling string lights --- love and recommend! The reception was spacious yet cozy, so there was enough room for dining, dancing, and mingling without losing the intimacy of the event. Which was important for us. Our guest count is 85 so we had lots of options. Dancing part was on the higher level near the bar. We did some fire pits above. Guests kept commenting on how they felt like they had been transported to another world. Amanda and her team made everything so easy despite Big Sur being a challenging place to plan a big event. They were accommodating and helped us navigate all the things that came our way. We couldn't have been happier with how it all turned out and wouldn't change a thing.

My wedding at Loma Vista Gardens in spring 2024 was enchanting. We'd been debating if we wanted something more intimate or bigger but what is perfect about Loma Vista is even though it can hold more people than most (maybe any?) venue in big sur.. it feels SO intimate. Because the layout I think, how it's terraced with all these difference spaces. The venue is stunning and incredibly versatile. Every corner of the property is uniquely beautiful, offering endless possibilities for event flow and ambiance. So each moment of the wedding felt very intentional. I cannot praise Blaise, Amanda, the bartenders, and the entire staff enough. Their guidance and support were invaluable throughout the planning process. Amanda ended up being our coordinator - SO glad we went in house. Made everything very smooth and easy. No surprises at all. We did have to get shuttles which although is an added cost- is definitely worth it. We mostly stayed in Carmel -- it's a drive but it's gorgeous and really made it part of the fun

Georgia said she would refund my total costs.

*** MY REVIEW IS STRICTLY FROM AIRBNB YURT GLAMPING EXPERIENCE *** (or lack thereof) As a Bay Native currently living I the South Bay, I'm not sure how I have not been to Big Sur before. My partner and I have talked about it a few times, and last fall I booked us a surprise 2 night stay and the Loma Vista Gardens airbnb for his birthday. There ended up being a lot of issues (surprise was maybe not the best idea) with timing, but in the end we decided it would be best not to go as it became apparent our 12 year old GSD was nearing his final days and we wanted to be in close proximity to our vet for any emergencies. I relayed this to Georgia and she was so understanding. I had asked if it was possible to reschedule or if not, to let me know as I could have gifted the stay to my parents who would have greatly enjoyed the stay. Georgia allowed us to push the dates which I was grateful for. We decided for March 2024, but in the midst of the grief of losing our best friend, I never really realized the dates on Airbnb never got updated. In the back of my head this was a red flag but by the time I was realizing this is was a bit too late to bring it up. As we neared March 2024 I received a message from Georgia saying they were shutting down the airbnb due to "unforeseen circumstances". It was unfortunate but I understood, especially as she has understood when my circumstances changed. She said she would refund me, event sent me the screenshot of the costs and that was that. Then radio silence. I followed up a week or so later checking in, but no response. Then again another week later and no response. In the end it led to a huge headache with airbnb, them not refunding me any money due to the dates being the original dates, and Georgia not responding to their efforts to connect with her. I honestly don't know if this was all an intentional scam. But until I get my money back I am assuming it was and I am probably not the only one who lost money when they deleted the Airbnb listing. TLDR;; pretty sure I got scammed and lost over $1k, and seems like folks have lost even more based on some reviews here.

Those golden mountain views during dinner were sooooo gorgeous.

We had a completely magical wedding at Loma Vista in July 2024. The place is gorgeous and versatile. The different spaces on the property offer so many options for event flow, and every corner is beautiful and unique. Guests were amazed by the surroundings, and I even had multiple guests tell me it was their favorite wedding ever My highest praise is for Blaise, Amanda, and all the staff and management. They gave the best advice and vendor recommendations and plenty of guidance when I needed it while fully supporting my vision and ideas. I trusted them 1000% and thanks to them and a great planner I had a painless planning process (seriously!) and a beautiful, memorable event!

My wedding was incredible -- because it was at Loma Vista Gardens. All of the recommendations from their team helped us put together a dream ceremony and reception. My guests were astounded with the experience. I love this space because you don't have to do much to it to make it extraordinary. Blaise and his team made it easy to get everything organized well ahead of the wedding. I thought I was going to be much more stressed out but it was a breeze because of their team. If you want an iconic wedding venue that will take your breathe away and leave your guests in awe, choose Loma Vista. I couldn't be happier with my experience.

Unfortunately, my second visit left me feeling violated and unwelcome. I ordered an apricot danish and a cappuccino with oat milk. The coffee didn't taste quite right to me, so I politely asked the barista if I could have a little more oat milk added. I was told that I would have to be charged for a latte because adding more milk would change the drink ratio. I explained that I only wanted a small amount, not enough to turn it into a latte, but the request was still refused. What bothered me most was the next interaction with the same barista. I saw the self-service milk containers at the condiment station and mentioned that I would just add some myself, but they were empty. The barista said: "It's the same thing, I will have to charge you." When I asked what those complimentary milk condiments were for, the barista responded, "Those are for other people." As a paying customer (coffee and pastries), hearing that felt upsetting and dismissive. I left feeling embarrassed, singled-out and unwelcome over what should have been a simple customer service interaction for such a small request. I wish the owners would rectify the situation. The pastries were wonderful, but the customer service experience unfortunately overshadowed the visit. I would NEVER recommend this place to any of my friends nor family.

I have read some negative comments about the cost of the rooms. Yes, the rooms at a little over $800 a night may be high, but remember this Motel is in a unique location of #Big Sur and I don't know of any other motels in Big Sur that can offer a river view just steps away from the water. So for me this was worth every penny. If you are wanting to explore the Big Sur area and spend time away from this Motel resort than you may want to use a budget motel. This motel was designed for rest and relaxation. The pool on site is a plus. The rooms don't have a microwave, fridge, or kitchen, so you will have to pack sandwiches and snacks in a cooler. Otherwise, the restaurant food is good and the general store next to it also sells deli style food, pizzas, hot sandwiches, and wraps. Oh, and the burritos are big enough to feed two. I highly recommend this place for a special occasion or for a wonderful memory to look back on.

I knew that going in. It was still starker than I expected. Start with the property. When that is the view off your deck, why go anywhere else? Stunning doesn't cover it. We hiked much of the grounds and every turn delivered something new. The kind of place that makes you slow down without even trying. Then the restaurant. Everything was perfect -- service, quality, execution. Much of the food sourced on property or from the surrounding community. My wife declared the salad the best she'd ever had. High praise for a salad. High praise, full stop. Special shout out to our server Yasmany and bartender Thomas -- both exceptional. What struck me most was how effortless the entire staff made it look. These are people who deal with guests from around the world, all arriving with high expectations of a high-end experience. And yet nothing felt forced. Nobody appeared to be trying to impress us. It was just perfect service, perfectly delivered. That's the rarest thing in hospitality. Highlight of the trip. Hands down. And I suspect, never to be repeated.

PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW BEFORE MAKING A RESERVATION -- IT MAY SAVE YOU THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS…read more If you are considering booking an ocean-view room at Post Ranch Inn between May, June, July, or August, I strongly encourage you to do extensive research about Big Sur's seasonal coastal fog before spending your money. Based on our experience, I would never book an ocean-view room during these months again. We paid nearly $10,000 for two nights in one of the resort's premium ocean-view accommodations because the breathtaking ocean views shown throughout their website were the main reason we chose this property. Unfortunately, during our entire stay, the ocean view was completely hidden by dense fog. We never saw the spectacular view that was advertised and pictured online. What disappointed us most was the lack of transparency. The website showcases beautiful, clear ocean views but does not adequately prepare guests for the possibility that the view may be completely obstructed for an entire stay during certain times of the year. If guests are paying thousands of dollars specifically for an ocean-view room, they deserve clear information about the seasonal risk of persistent coastal fog so they can make an informed decision. Throughout our stay, we repeatedly asked staff whether the fog would clear. We were consistently told that it would likely clear within a few hours. Unfortunately, that never happened. The fog remained throughout our stay, and we never got to enjoy the ocean view we paid a premium for. What made this even more frustrating was that, after repeatedly being told by multiple staff members that the fog would clear soon, one employee later told us that they were not supposed to tell guests that the weather was expected to remain the same for several days and that these foggy conditions are common during this time of year. According to that employee, this type of weather often persists throughout much of the summer season. I cannot independently verify that statement, but if that information was accurate, it raises serious concerns about transparency. Guests spending thousands of dollars for an ocean-view room deserve honest information about the likelihood of actually seeing the ocean during their stay. The room itself also had maintenance issues. The bar sink was clogged, and the shower valve/faucet was loose and repeatedly fell while being used. We reported both problems, but neither was repaired during our stay. Staff apologized, but no one came to address the issues. For a property charging close to $5,000 per night, I expected much better communication, transparency, maintenance, and overall value. I fully understand that the weather is beyond the hotel's control. However, what is within their control is how honestly they communicate the risk of seasonal fog to potential guests. Had we known there was a realistic possibility of spending our entire stay looking at a wall of fog instead of the Pacific Ocean, we would have chosen different travel dates, a different room category, or a different destination altogether. The property itself is beautiful, but based on our experience, the value did not come close to justifying the cost. If an ocean view is important to you, think very carefully before booking an ocean-view room during the late spring and summer months.

Our room was well appointed with a comfy bed and fireplace as well as a place for us to work. All of the food, whether it was room service or happy hour plates or meals at the restaurants (with the single exception of the Big Sur Smokehouse which was terrible and I do not recommend) was very good. As a matter of fact, I would say that the culinary experiences here were some of our best experiences overall, and that is saying a lot considering the level of customer service you receive at this establishment. We also hiked the trails with our small dog but unfortunately as much as they advise this is a dog friendly place, dogs are not allowed in the pool or soaking areas and you cannot leave them in the room, so by bringing our dog we did miss out on use of the pools and some of the other amenities.
