When we were meandering our way through Hwy 1 I saw the sign for this spot on our way to a hike and I knew I wanted to check it out on the way back. I'm glad we did but boy blink and you miss it! If you are not renting the space for a private event it isn't much in the way of public access. The accessible gardens between the art gallery on site and the shop is on either side of a short pathway. It's pretty but I wouldn't go out of my way to make this happen again. I always appreciate someone taking the time to cultivate a garden for public use, so no shade here. It just isn't anything you can wander or get lost in if you aren't renting the space for private use. I snapped a few pics, it added some beauty to our day but not a huge impact overall. read more

It has been over a year since we settled this matter with Loma Vista in court. We flew out from the east coast to checkout the venue, decided to move forward and paid over 15k in venue fees and deposits, only to realize the venue does not have a liquor license and is walking multiple licensing violations. We eventually settled in small claims court and got our money back. I have to say I feel sorry for Amanda, the event managers as she is simply working with a stupid and entitled child, the owner Blaise Lipman. I do not recommend this venue and trust me, there are a lot more beautiful places in the peninsula, and more importantly, nicer people and more law-binding, contract reading event managers and event space owners. read more

Big Sur holds a special place in my wife's and my heart. It was where we got engaged, so it was a no-brainer to look for a venue there to celebrate our wedding day. That is when we found Loma Vista Gardens. As soon as we entered, we knew that this space was special. The terraced garden allowed us to create a bespoke wedding with different events on different levels. We were in contact with Amanda, LVG's director of events. She couldn't have been more accommodating, kind, and professional. She was super knowledgeable about the space, and we knew after our tour that we would be taken care of. Leading up to the event, Amanda was very responsive: answering all of our questions and calming our nerves. Also, after we got word that our alcohol delivery would be delayed, LVG's owner Blaise came to the rescue coordinating with the vendor and getting our order there on time. Speaking of alcohol, the LVG's bar was exceptional. All of our guests loved the bartending team and their specialty cocktails. After the wedding, our guests couldn't stop commenting on how beautiful LVG is. Once phrase that kept popping up was "fairytale wedding." And that's exactly what it was. read more

Our wedding at Loma Vista Gardens in Big Sur was nothing short of magical. The venue offers a unique blend of natural beauty and charm that felt elegant yet earthy. Very fitting for us! We had a mid-summer wedding and the lush gardens are such an enchanting backdrop that made our ceremony feel like a fairy tale. The intimate setting allowed us to focus on the love we were celebrating with our closest family and friends. Our guests came in from as far as Lisbon and Buenos Aires. We loved how the property captures the beauty of Big Sur so we could share this with the people who came from afar. The gardens have a peaceful, spiritual energy, which for me is indicative of the Big Sur coast and ultimately why we chose this area and specifically, Loma Vista. The venue is meticulously maintained, with vibrant flowers in bloom and perfect lighting as the sun filters through the trees. The paths, rustic wood details, and surrounding nature made it feel like we were in our own paradise. Cocktail hour was in a garden with twinkling string lights --- love and recommend! The reception was spacious yet cozy, so there was enough room for dining, dancing, and mingling without losing the intimacy of the event. Which was important for us. Our guest count is 85 so we had lots of options. Dancing part was on the higher level near the bar. We did some fire pits above. Guests kept commenting on how they felt like they had been transported to another world. Amanda and her team made everything so easy despite Big Sur being a challenging place to plan a big event. They were accommodating and helped us navigate all the things that came our way. We couldn't have been happier with how it all turned out and wouldn't change a thing. read more

My wedding at Loma Vista Gardens in spring 2024 was enchanting. We'd been debating if we wanted something more intimate or bigger but what is perfect about Loma Vista is even though it can hold more people than most (maybe any?) venue in big sur.. it feels SO intimate. Because the layout I think, how it's terraced with all these difference spaces. The venue is stunning and incredibly versatile. Every corner of the property is uniquely beautiful, offering endless possibilities for event flow and ambiance. So each moment of the wedding felt very intentional. I cannot praise Blaise, Amanda, the bartenders, and the entire staff enough. Their guidance and support were invaluable throughout the planning process. Amanda ended up being our coordinator - SO glad we went in house. Made everything very smooth and easy. No surprises at all. We did have to get shuttles which although is an added cost- is definitely worth it. We mostly stayed in Carmel -- it's a drive but it's gorgeous and really made it part of the fun read more

I do not recommend booking with Loma Vista. We had my daughter's wedding there May 2025. While the venue is beautiful, we had several things go wrong, the most important of which was they refused to refund our deposit. Beware-as per the contract, you do not receive your deposit back until 90 days after your event. I kept track of this and through various emails with Amanda, it was confirmed that I would, in fact, receive 100% of my deposit back. However, after multiple attempts to get the money refunded, I finally had to do a charge back with my credit card. Amanda handed us off to the "accounting department". Blaise, the owner, sent one email to me, claiming he simply "works in the accounting department", and that there must be some problem with my credit card because he could not get the refund to process. I reached out to my credit card company and confirmed there had been no attempts to refund. I offered Blaise multiple other ways to refund the money, including mailing me a check, but after the one email, he completely ghosted me. Thankfully, American Express was able to refund me the money. The other issues we had were as follows: The toilets onsite were backed up the entire night, despite Amanda telling us that they were fine. Thankfully we had rented portable bathrooms. Upon arrival to the venue on the wedding day, they were nowhere near ready for us. For example, portable heaters were still in boxes. There were cobwebs in the on-site bathrooms. The trailer used by the guys to get ready was full of dust and mold in the fridge. We later confirmed we were the first wedding of the season. Our seating arrangement had been approved by Amanda long before the event date. However, once set up occurred, the tables did not fit as planned and Loma refused to make any accommodations for us. We were forced to change the seating arrangement while we were trying to get ready and enjoy the day with my daughter. Amanda and later Blaise were not enjoyable to work with. Amanda was very kind and sweet until we made our deposit, then I found her to be rude and short with us. I highly recommend against hosting any event at this property. If you do, I suggest you pay with a credit card (despite the fee) to ensure you receive your money back if need be. While the venue has many great reviews, unfortunately, that was not our experience. read more

We emailed with the owner's son, Blaise, and set up a meeting to tour the venue. We arrived early and were quickly able to see that the venue would not meet our needs, not for any shortcoming of the venue, just that it did not meet our vision. So we promptly emailed them and thanked them and politely indicated our situation. We got an angry, condescending and unprofessional email back from Blaise demanding a payment for the missed appointment. Looking back over our prior emails with Blaise, there was no mention of no-show fees. There was also no policy about canceling a showing in advance...his email and website simply said, "let us know if you can't make it." If this is any indication on how they run their business, I would RUN AWAY, and I'm glad we didn't go further after reading other reviews. It seems that Blaise has little understanding of contracts, little clarity in policies, and outright rude communication. While we might have recommended this venue previously, based on the facilities, we simply can't after this horrible customer-relations experience. read more

This venue is beautiful, but the owners are the absolute worst. It's just not worth it. Contracting with LVG was truly a nightmare and caused us a great deal of stress during what is supposed to be a happy and joyful time. I got married in August 2023. Our wedding was coordinated by co-owners Gigi, her brother Blaise, and at some point a new employee Amanda was also brought on. I came across the negative reviews for LVG prior to signing the contract, and I SHOULD HAVE LISTENED, but the grounds were so beautiful that I wanted to overlook the potential issues. I actually decided to face the negative reviews head-on and so I sent them to Gigi and Blaise and asked them if we could talk about it. Blaise was highly defensive and combative over email. Shockingly so. I ended up having a phone call with Gigi which went better, so we decided to proceed. The next day, I logged back onto Yelp to pull up this page and look over the reviews again...only to find that Loma Vista had CHANGED THEIR COMPANY NAME to "Polenta Rana Inn," updated the description to "We are a quiet B&B retreat deep in the California Mountains. Accessible through King City in the Central Valley, we pride ourselves on privacy and commitment to giving our guests a beautiful experience in the great outdoors. With guided tours of fishing, cave diving, as well as bi-weekly Mass services, we unify both the path our Lord as well as the path of Nature" and finally marked their business as closed. Presumably they did this to try to prevent me and others from finding the negative reviews? Sadly for them, you can't hide from the internet that easily -- searching for LVG still brought up their Yelp page, and the reviews and user photos were still obviously about them, it just listed another someone else's business name (cringe, I feel sorry as Polenta Rana Inn is a legit business). A couple months later, they changed the company name back to LVG which is the page you can see today (although they are still using the business description from Polenta Rana Inn as of this review). At this point, should I have known better than to continue? Yes. But I thought the venue was so beautiful, they had our date open, and we got attached to it and just wasn't able to say no. Here is just a small sampling of the crap that went down with LVG during our planning process: We first toured LVG in January 2023. At that time, Blaise stated that tables and chairs were about to be newly added for free to all clients. When it came to the actual wedding in August, however, Gigi and Blaise seemed to have forgotten about this promise and charged by the item for tables and chairs. There were multiple accommodations (for 10 persons total) listed in the contract as included as part of the package (yurt, cottage, and trailer). When it came to the actual wedding, somehow the cottage (sleeping 4 guests) became suddenly unavailable. We suspect they converted it to something else and had forgotten they offered it. We planned to have guests and vendors stay in these accommodations and our planner had to scramble the DAY OF to take care of it. Very stressful for our vendors and us. LVG is VERY particular and picky about their rules in a way that many other venues are not. For example, they told us that if we were not completely vacated by 11:00pm on the dot, we would automatically be charged an additional $1500 - even for 1 minute. This caused my wedding planner a great deal of stress. LVG charged a nonrefundable $1500 fee ON TOP of a refundable damage fee (and in addition to insurance) for us to bring mini horses to the wedding cocktail hour, stating that they would need to "hire a staff person" to monitor the horses at all times and make sure none of their "endangered or rare" plants were damaged. They charged us, but they did not, in fact, hire a staff person. The mini horses spent 45 mins on leash in an all dirt space. No damage left behind, nor even hoof prints. In general, they were unresponsive, curt, strict, unreliable, inconsistent, and unpleasant. And if you don't believe me, believe my wedding planner. I won't name her here, but she is a major player in the Carmel area and she told us after our wedding that she has vetoed LVG and refuses to work with them ever again. She has never made this decision with a venue before. She called LVG "clueless." Admittedly, the photos of my wedding at the venue are gorgeous because LVG is gorgeous. But if I had it to do all over again, I would choose another venue. My intention in writing this review is to warn future engaged couples to avoid this business at all costs. The venue is really beautiful - surrounded by redwood trees, succulents, and a multi tiered area for mingling, dining, and dancing. The amenities like the bar, yurt, and bathrooms were really nicely appointed and convenient. Quite easy to access too for all of our friends coming in from Carmel and further afield. The team was great - they helped us tour the property, walk us through different options, and were super helpful throughout the process of choosing vendors, booking, and on the day of the reception. The pricing was really fair for the area and I would definitely recommend them if you are looking for a wedding venue in Big Sur. read more

*** MY REVIEW IS STRICTLY FROM AIRBNB YURT GLAMPING EXPERIENCE *** (or lack thereof) As a Bay Native currently living I the South Bay, I'm not sure how I have not been to Big Sur before. My partner and I have talked about it a few times, and last fall I booked us a surprise 2 night stay and the Loma Vista Gardens airbnb for his birthday. There ended up being a lot of issues (surprise was maybe not the best idea) with timing, but in the end we decided it would be best not to go as it became apparent our 12 year old GSD was nearing his final days and we wanted to be in close proximity to our vet for any emergencies. I relayed this to Georgia and she was so understanding. I had asked if it was possible to reschedule or if not, to let me know as I could have gifted the stay to my parents who would have greatly enjoyed the stay. Georgia allowed us to push the dates which I was grateful for. We decided for March 2024, but in the midst of the grief of losing our best friend, I never really realized the dates on Airbnb never got updated. In the back of my head this was a red flag but by the time I was realizing this is was a bit too late to bring it up. As we neared March 2024 I received a message from Georgia saying they were shutting down the airbnb due to "unforeseen circumstances". It was unfortunate but I understood, especially as she has understood when my circumstances changed. She said she would refund me, event sent me the screenshot of the costs and that was that. Then radio silence. I followed up a week or so later checking in, but no response. Then again another week later and no response. In the end it led to a huge headache with airbnb, them not refunding me any money due to the dates being the original dates, and Georgia not responding to their efforts to connect with her. I honestly don't know if this was all an intentional scam. But until I get my money back I am assuming it was and I am probably not the only one who lost money when they deleted the Airbnb listing. TLDR;; pretty sure I got scammed and lost over $1k, and seems like folks have lost even more based on some reviews here. read more

My daughter and new son in law got married at Loma Vista last month and it could not have been a more beautiful event. I had the pleasure of getting to be involved in the planning process with my daughter and attended the initial tour. We met with the venue manager, Amanda, who ended up being our main point of contact all the way to through the wedding day. She was wonderfully warm, helpful, and knowledgable, qualities that continued throughout the year of planning. The venue was incredibly responsive and attentive to all of our questions and needs through out our entire planning experience. The wedding day could not have been more perfect. The garden was gorgeous and all of our guests were in awe. We had the ceremony on the highest level of the garden near their bar area, cocktail hour on the lawn, and dinner in the lowest level of the garden. All 150 of our guests flowed through the space effortlessly. We just got sneak peaks of their wedding photos, and we especially loved the photos of my daughter and her husband seated in the pergola at dinner with lush grapevines cascading down around them. It was a once in a lifetime evening for my family and we are so grateful to Loma Vista and couldn't be happier with our choice in venue. read more

Planning our dream wedding at Loma Vista Gardens quickly turned into a NIGHTMARE due to owner Blaise. We picked Loma Vista for our June 24, 2023 wedding after extensively researching multiple locations and venues, for us it seemed like Loma Vista checked off all the right boxes. We signed the contract and put down a roughly $7,000 non-refundable deposit. In April of 2022 we flew out to Big Sur California from New York to visit the venue and do a tasting with the caterer, who we selected from the list of approved/recommended vendors. We were provided with an estimate of $54 per plate for family style catering and having never done this before we budgeted for that number. After we left the venue, we received a formal estimate from Loma Vista that more than doubled the cost of that estimate with charges like $3,080 for "Family Style Staffing", $2,120 "Service Fee" and 18% gratuity. Naturally this came as a shock to us and I reached out for further clarification, mainly on the service fee. I was told that "The service charge details include prep, set up, clean up and full service." It seemed like the service fee described the "Family Style Staffing" so I asked for further clarification. I also researched other venues and it seemed like most places had a 20% service fee while this was 30%. I mentioned to the venue that with all the additional unplanned costs this was out of budget and if they had any other options which would fall into our budget. This is when this whole experience spiraled into a nightmare. After not receiving a reply I followed up and reiterated that this was out of budget and if there were any other options we could explore. Keep in mind that there was a sense of urgency since vendors were quickly booking up for our wedding date. This is when owner Blaise took over the conversation and immediately became combative and argumentative saying "It's not that you're a nuisance, it's that you are entitled." Ironic how someone who inherited mommy and daddies business has the audacity to call paying clients "entitled" simply because they have questions. At this point he also stated that "I will exercise my legal right to cancel your contract and keep your non-refundable deposit". The communication ended with "I will not be speaking on this matter further, and if you respond with more complaints, unfounded accusations, or entitled behavior, then the next email you're going to get will be one letting you know your contract has been canceled." To say that we were shocked and speechless would be an understatement, but now we were aware that that we would never get the wedding we signed up for if this is the treatment we were receiving before the actual wedding. After the cancellation threats I reached out to Blaise in May to make amends and offered to find an amicable solution, I also clearly stated that "This is not a notice to cancel rather an attempt to come to a resolution." After not hearing back for 3 weeks I feared that he had cancelled our contract and filed a dispute with Amex for services not rendered. Loma Vista rebutted our dispute and forwarded Amex our non-refundable deposit contract while falsely stating that we had cancelled. Amex denied our dispute and stated that the deposit was non-refundable. I reached out to Blaise to ask if 6/24/2023 was still our wedding date or if he had cancelled us. As in some demented and sadistic way he got pleasure out of this messing with us he replied, "Why would we have canceled you?" "Of course it's your wedding date! We hope you are enjoying the planning process! :)" At the same time he's telling other people that are interested in booking the same date that it is available. I honestly believe he took joy and entertainment out of seeing us suffer. Lastly I reached out in October, 2022 to schedule a time to talk and he replied "You terminated your contract when you retracted payment by falsely claiming to your credit card company that your non-refundable deposit was a fraudulent charge." Our dispute was filed before he told us that the date was still ours and now he used a false narrative to finally admit that he had cancelled us and was keeping our deposit. I'm writing this in the hopes that other couples won't have to go through what we did. Ultimately, we were lucky enough to find another venue and it's been a blessing to work with true professionals who deeply care about their clients. As a review from Gina on Yelp stated "Although pretty, the atmosphere is derailed by the attitude of the owner's son, Blaise. An angry boy who shouldn't be in charge of a flock of sheep, let alone a customer service oriented operation." Frankly I couldn't agree more. read more

The venue manager and in-house planner, Amanda, treated us like family and helped us through every stage of planning. Couldn't have done it without her. The gardens themselves are stunning! My husband and I got married here a few weeks ago, and it was SO beautiful. The staff was super helpful and gracious. I got a makeup smudge on my dress right before the ceremony and the venue manager, Amanda, whipped out a tide pen and removed the stain like a pro while the rest of the crew kept everything else running smoothly. This is just one example of the many ways the Loma staff went above and beyond. The warm service, the gorgeous setting, and the thoughtful design made the entire event a dream. Cannot say enough positive things about our experience at Loma Vista. From the moment we chose Loma Vista, Amanda and her team made the planning process effortless, ensuring every detail was executed seamlessly. The grounds and gardens are simply breathtaking, guests had real "wow" moments when they enter into the big gates. We opted for a relaxed atmosphere with a food truck, live music, full bar, amazing specialty cocktails. We loved that we could sort of really make it exactly as we wanted. They allow for a ton of flexibility so it really felt very unique and tailored to exactly what we wanted. We wanted it to feel very high end while still being low key and not stuffy. Loma Vista included all the furniture and we had all of these cozy seating areas, and thoughtful spaces. Music in the forest with the twinkly lights was exactly what I had pictured but somehow it turned out more beautifully than I could have ever imagined. read more

This venue costs $15,000 to rent for approx. five hours. This is for the use of the grounds and staff. Although pretty, the atmosphere is derailed by the attitude of the owner's son, Blaise. An angry boy who shouldn't be in charge of a flock of sheep, let alone a customer service oriented operation. At the wedding I attended, he yelled at sober guests and even threatened to kick out those he thought were disrespecting him. In addition, on a night when the temperature plummeted to below 40 degrees, they failed to provide sufficient heat lamps. At the table, no water was served. Upon requests from parched guests, a plastic Crystal Geyser jug was passed around. They need to step up the service and Blaise needs a course in business management and manners training. read more

But, let me tell you everything was so magical. I wouldn't change a single thing! Blaise was amazing from start till I was passed on the Georgia! I love them both!
