Overlooking the religious aspect (which is important), the teachers and administration actually care, and its shows. All the employees know ALL of the kids' names, as well as the parents too (security, lunch-staff, office admin, etc.). Teachers my kid hasn't had yet know his name.....The teachers actually want to be there, and 'craft' (mold) good children, and they go above and beyond around each and every turn. Also, the kids there have personality, heart, and compassion, for each other and the world around them. They care about each other in a way you would never (NEVER) see in the outside world. Its actual love exuding in how they interact, play, and talk. They are curious beings, with empathetic hearts, growing into this world, and protected by the school, while at the same time allowed to find themselves and evolve into good people/adults. The administration is also top-notch. From the front office, principal, vice-principal (Ms. Fessman!), Mr. Lou, and Father McSweeney and Father Figueroa . They all CARE, and know each and every one of these kids' names, personalities, and interest...............these people not only care, but they also LOVE these kids, and love their jobs (and it shows). As the saying goes, 'it takes a village to raise a kid', and St. Augustine's has that down pat. The tuition isn't that bad, and the product you see in your child shows each and every day. The biggest investment you will ever make is in your children, and placing your child here ensures a return on that investment. I cancelled her enrollment in June but the school won't give me back the first tuition payment. I'm paying for a month of school where my child isn't even attending and I was laughed at by MARYANNE DEMPSEY who was unhelpful and nasty. These Catholic schools are a joke. All they care about is the almighty dollar. That is why my daughters first school closed and here is another school just keeping money that doesn't belong to them. I'm very hurt by the schools response and wouldn't give that parish or school another dime! It's a shame. You can't trust them.

The teachers and assistants are warm and go at the pace of the students, encouraging those ahead to go further and those taking more time to continue and succeed. They teach many languages. In just a few months my 3 year old learned counting, alphabet and phonics, days of the week, seasons and more. As far as languages she learned to count to seven and colors in English, French, Spanish, Japanese and German and colors in the same. She even learned some Mandarin. Teachers helped her learn life skills such as putting on clothes and respect for fellow students. The space is beautiful and intimate without being crowded. There is a playground on site and ball pit for when the weather is cold. It is child centric with small toilets etc. The school is very welcoming to parents AND grandparents. It is also very very safety conscious not sharing photos or information on students. Students and parents come from around the world and diverse backgrounds.

I was so very disappointed with that charter school. So hopefully Family Life Academy is nothing like HEKETI. NO ONE should send their kids there if they truly care and love them. I took my kids out of Public School and they were making such great grades there. I still wanted something better for my kids. But I was not at all satisfied with HEKETI. Parents make sure you take your time and choose the right school for your kids. My kids were so very unhappy at that Heketi Charter school. So I'm crossing my fingers and looking for a better school.
