I declined, as I've never had a facial in my life and thought I should try it out before I commit to a full one. I found the Beauty Basement, not far from Holborn tube, in the basement of The Cutting Room. This is why I've only given it 4 stars, as the size of it (tiny) and the location (underneath a hairdressers, bit confusing) are not ideal. However, Lauretta, who did my facial, was brilliant. It lasted almost double what I was told it would, and never felt like she rushed at all. The facial also involved some massage, which was wonderful, and my skin felt lovely afterwards. I was then fit into the schedule for the next day, as it was required that it be fixed quickly, and they did an absolutely fantastic job. The staff are friendly and lovely, they really know their stuff and are happy to help with anything. But onto the shop itself. Belli Fuori display art-work from local artists completely free of charge, and allow them to sell their pieces. They also bring clothes over from Italy, which are on sale around the store. In terms of products, they use ammonia-free where possible, and are very conscious of keeping your hair in good condition. Basically, I can't recommend them enough.

Her suggestion was to do balayage. When I called to book again that's what I asked for, explaining on the phone that I don't want bleaching and want to bring my hair to a healthy state. I only suggested balayage because she told me about it. So I arrive for my appointment and she looks at me like I am an idiot and that we can't do balayage to which I agree and try to suggest something different. She still looks at me like I came from space...and allows her customer to get involved in the conversation. Wanda was telling me off like she was my teacher and I was 5 years old. However still no suggestions about what she can do. At the end after feeling that it's going nowhere I left and I am never going back. Other members of staff are very polite but I had the same experience with Wanda 2 years ago, decided to go back and remembered why I left. I am going to the hairdresser to give me solutions not to talk down at me and offer no solutions.

The only time she spoke to me was to guide me to the room, ask me to lie down and to take my payment. She asked no questions about my skin and made no attempts to me feel relaxed. As I said I do not know her name but she is an older, eastern european woman. I will go back to the salon but will just make sure I do not get treated by her. Take my advice go to the salon but avoid this terrible beautician.

The colour I has asked for was a level 4 brown, which isnt too hard as I'm naturally a level 3 brown. Anyhow after the colour was washed out of my hair and my hair dried, imagine my horror when I saw that my roots were orange and my hair was dark brown. The woman who did this then tried to dye my roots to match the rest of my hair ( a horrid dark brown), but it didn't do anything. I was so upset and what made it worse was the fact that I got charged the full amount. When I washed my hair after 2 days, my hair was coming out in clumps. I was in tears. I went to the Ginger group of hair salons and not only did they save my colour , they gave me to Alterna hair products to help limit the damage to my hair and stop more from falling out. I will never forgive Bhartis hair salon for what they did.

Although it is not as nice as the pinks beauty shop opposite the road Bhartis does offer good value for money and are especially good at threading and axing. I would recommend susan who works there as being the best. The shop is always busy so it would be wise to book an appointment in advance especially if you plan to visit on the weekend. Tracey really got to the stress knots in my muscles and this was my favourite part of the session. The Age Smart facial was also fab. I had a good consultation before and afterwards, where the therapist talked through my cleansing routine, noted concerns (I got to take home a copy of this) and also gave me advice and Dermalogica product samples to take home. I had my face steamed, cleaned, exfoliated, toned and moisturised, and afterwards my complexion genuinely looked miles better than it has in ages. I feel like Elegant studio is exactly the kind of gem that Yelp was made for discovering - from the unassuming sign on the busy Chinatown street itself, I probably would have never decided to march up to the second floor location and try a massage. But thankfully, I was recommended the services here by a friend (equally thrilled with her experience), and now I am recommending it to you, Yelp community - if you want a fully personalized, attentive and relaxed massage for good value, you won't regret giving this place a shot. Personalized: You can choose from a Thai, Japanese, Chinese, or aroma therapy body massages, or a more focused foot reflexology session to address a particular problem. But I love that this is just the beginning - Jerry, the masseur, makes sure to first fully understand his client and combine the techniques to suit each individual instead of delivering a cookie-cutter routine. But there's no need - the massage rooms are in a divided area completely separate from the buzz, and I never had a problem with any noise interference. The rooms may not be luxurious, but they were perfectly clean and cozy, with just the right balance of dim darkness and a bit of atmospheric light. The light background music was well chosen, as it didn't 'get old' even after an hour and half. Once the masseur starts applying the scented herbal oils, the room becomes all you need to make a lovely oasis of peace for your treatment. And most importantly, the masseur's professional but warm attitude from the very beginning to the end puts you at ease and lets you get lost in the massage. With such attitude, it's clear why Jerry has many long-term clients who keep coming back. When I pointed to the big clock she had on the table and showed her the time, she said that the place only did 50 hour massages because it would take me 10 minutes to change and then went away for 10 minutes to get a hot water towel.
