The entire team, (but especially Dave) were brilliant. I didn't know what to expect and there was a lot of planning going in. The On Your Bike team was with me every step of the way. Once I got there, they got the bike set up quickly, provided useful info (the brakes are opposite of what they are in U.S. - good to know!). The bike itself was excellent and exactly what I needed for the ride. They even picked up the bike at the end for a small fee. They made what could have been a complex situation super easy. Or even existed. It's a bit like that. They have so much kit, a pretty exhaustive range of stock. Drinks bottles (a range). Biking clothing. Helmets. New slinky wheels. New tyres. A unicycle. And lots and lots of bikes. I found the staff really friendly. Very knowledgeable, which you'd expect, all clearly enthusiasts themselves, which is nice. And all together, really well-presented shop with A LOT of bike products.

The staff here are passionate about cycling as a sport and probably have been since the day they first sat on a tricycle. As well as having a huge range of mountain, racing and all kinds of bikes, they are immensely knowledgeable and good at repair jobs. On the downside, it is often quite difficult to get served you really do have to fight for their attention. Be prepared for a bit of cockney banter and you can even haggle down the price on occasions. This is nothing like shopping at Evans Bike Superstore, but so much more of a personal and interesting experience.

I rang ahead of time as my local store didn't have the specific tyre I needed. When I went in I got the best advice and suggestions from an actual bike-rider (who also happens to manage the shop). I genuinely got the feeling that they were not trying to "up-sell" me, in fact I spent less than I had researched and planned to spend, but I now have a favourite store and they have my loyalty, so even though it isn't my closest bike shop all my bike-spend is going to this store. I stood there for 10 minutes, ignored by both staff. One of them was just reading his computer screen and didn't bother looking up, the other didn't acknowledge me until he had finished with the customer. When I was finally seen they were worse than useless. Didn't have any advice, said they didn't have much in. The second time I went in the bloke tried to push a second-hand bike on me for £300. Once, I would have forgotten it but this happened both times I went in. I felt like I'd been treated with contempt & totally unvalued. It's a joke of a shop & I won't be going back.

I love you Decathlon!…read more Decathlon makes me sporty. OK - so I am (was) anything but sporty. But living next to Decathlon has forced me to become a (half) Marathon runner and a regular hiker. Decathlon does a great job of selling. Products are among the most competitively priced and the quality is not too compromised on either. For some reason, I always thought otherwise. Maybe because it's French? They never run out of stock for some reason. Good inventory management. The staff is very friendly. I have almost never had trouble finding what I need. They've always gone that extra mile to make sure I get what I'm looking for. Really glad to have Decathlon for a neighbor.

Not a spec of dirt on it. But that's only half the story. Unlike the sanitised, sterile bike shops in the vicinity, Druid Cycles is an eclectic, eccentric and wonderful space under the railway arches. It's also run as a social business, with an emphasis of training people to be mechanics. It's superb value for money and is open late into the evening. Never, ever had a problem with this place and would recommend it highly.

If there was a joke that went along the lines of 'how many tourists can you fit in to a novelty shop in Greenwich' the answer would be here on a Saturday. It's packed with them Everywhere. They jump out of corners at you. But I can understand why. Go to Greenwich, buy a compass. I never have, but if someone gave me a compass I'd be really pleased. I think they're romantic. Which makes me sound wierd. They actually don't sell tat in here. It's got some great stuff. Barometers and things like that. Of course, just the kind of stuff you need in your modern flat.
