If you are in the area, get down to the Sourced Market in St Pancras station. They have Great Newsome ales on tap, but it is a limited supply. They also have lots of bottled ale, E.G. Samuel Smith, Fullers, and others I don't know the origin of. Go there anyway, you can always enjoy the olives. They are going to get a regular supply of real ales.

I struggled with the star rating. I love Sourced Market and visited every return from London to Warrington where I used to live. Always excellent service; always really tasty food. This time my visit was a bit different. I had passed by the day before to scope out a foodie gift for a friend and decided that I would have breakfast there before heading North. I liked the look of the charcuterie sandwiches, but when I arrived at 9am, the charcuterie wasn't even in the window, let alone made into sandwiches. But I understood that - it was breakfast time. So, I scoured the menu and really appreciated that the Eggs Benedicts were offered as a single or a double (every restaurant should do that!). I ordered the Eggs Royale with Smoked Salmon. It was tasty, but to improve it, I would suggest that the smoked salmon be at room temperature instead of cold, and ease off on the lemon in the Hollandaise. It hit me like sucking a lemon until I got used to it after a few bites. It wasn't crowded and I had an hour before I had to be at Euston for my train, so I stayed at one of the long tables to fiddle on my Surface Pro. At all the tables, there were only 4 of us. But when the janitor in a Sourced outfit came by, he asked if I had ordered food. I explained that I had indeed purchased from Sourced and had finished my food. He was very grumpy at telling me to leave. It took me awhile to calm down internally, but I defiantly stayed. I looked at the other 3 people, none of whom were approached and 2 of whom hadn't received their food yet. So...hmmm...why was I singled out? It was a disappointing experience from a shop I absolutely adored when I lived in the UK. I hope it was just a one-off.

The olives at this place are to die for! They are quite pricey so I don't come here for them often but when I have £5 to spend on a pot of olives(!) it's the only place to come. The deli, bakery, wine and cheese sections are lovely as well but as I said it's quite expensive so only come here if you feel like splashing out.

Again, not super cheap, but not bad either, and very convenient to grab a few good bottles or cans while transferring through Kings Cross / St Pancras.

Islington Farmer's Market takes place in the playground of the William Tyndale School every Sunday…read morebetween 10am and 2pm. As one might expect from a market that takes place in a school playground it is pretty small affair. It is exclusively a food market. There are around 12 stalls selling meat, cheese, fish, vegetables and juices. In contrast to other markets there is little food to eat as you walk (pies etc.) so best to visit for staples if you live in the area. There are a good selection of quality items; the juices are particularly good. This farmer's market isn't spectacular but nonetheless sells good stuff and worth visiting if you're a local.

This is my Sunday ritual. Unfortnately I hail from San Francisco so I am a farmers market snob,…read morebut I actually appreciate the small quaintness of this market. I recommend the tomato guy, the goat cheese, the fresh eggs, the sausages and of course the Flour Power brownie. It can get a bit crowded, especially in the summer, but it is manageable. And hit the cash machine before you go--I can easily spend 40£ here (I am a sucker for the buy 2 discount!) I wish someone would put up a good coffee/latte stand at the market! I love strolling with my morning latte and there is no good place around there for coffee. Plus every farmers market should have a good coffee stand. I wish I could get Blue Bottle over on this side of the pond....

This is a lovely market on Thursdays (if you can get there before all the students descend!)…read more They sell veggies, meat pies, bread, home made quiches and tarts, ...and as well as the fresh food to take home, there are also loads of street stalls for lunch. A while ago I tried some looovely paella. Today I had a gooorgeous sandwich that was basically a mountain of beautifully cooked lamb with sweet chillie sauce, balanced on salad and ciabatta. It was sooo goood!! Next time I really want to try the hog roast with apple sauce. The only bad thing about this market is it is located between SOAS, Birkbeck and ULU...and is around the corner for UCL. So once the University year has started, you have to wait in line for quite a long time for the yummy food! Doh!!

And interestingly enough, the traders here are NOT the same old same old you get at all the other outdoor food markets. It is a refreshing change. A nice balance between ready to eat foods and groceries/take home products like bread, veg, raw meat, etc. Last time I had some fresh twisty pasta with walnut pesto, parmesan, and radicchio and it was REALLY good. It was like £4 or so, which is a good deal in my book. I'll certainly be back on another sunny day.
