Thank you to all the staff and especially Dr. Carla at Lone Mountain. The circumstances that I had to visit hospital were not the greatest. I called on Monday explained what was going on with my Rusty. I experienced nothing but understanding and compassion and he was scheduled for Tuesday morning. Dr. Carla was extremely understanding and as we discussed Rusty, she was aimable to doing what was minimally necessary. Unfortunately, Rusty's test results were not good. I could also see that Dr. Carla was also saddened by his diagnosis. The entire staff to include all the technicians, front desk ladies, and especially Dr. Carla showed nothing but compassion and empathy in helping Rusty cross over the rainbow bridge. I felt that these folks really care about what they do and the animals they provide care for. All I can say is THANK YOU. read more

Unfortunately my recent experience was disappointing. Horrible customer service from the assistant(older woman). She was rude, unfriendly, and openly spoke negatively about other staff members. This created a very uncomfortable and unprofessional environment. I brought my concerns to the doctor, she didn't seem to be concerned about the issue. My cat is my family, and I do not feel comfortable bringing my pet into such a toxic atmosphere. Sadly, the quality of care and professionalism at the hospital has declined, and I will not be returning. I recommend finding another hospital for your pet's care. read more

I had taken my mixed breed terrier to Lone Mountain after he was attacked by a neighbor's pit bull. Lone Mountain kept him for several days, claimed they did X-rays and could not find any problems. When I took him home I noticed him attempting to jump onto the couch repeatedly. I picked him up and found one of his back legs was broken. Not going back there again. read more

1st visit review - Sick pup I called this morning due to my under-the-weather pup and I was so pleased that they were able to offer me to appointment times one in the morning and one in the afternoon for the same day. Staff: the front office staff and the technicians seem incredibly nice which put me at ease right away. The doctor had a little bit less of a bedside manner but he was professional. Atmosphere: it really feels like this place likes dogs and likes animals in general the artwork is cute happy and creative and there's little touches here and there that make you feel very comfortable right away along with being greeted immediately. Recommend: Though I was on time I did wait at least half an hour to be seen which isn't terrible but I would have liked it sooner. Why its a five: besides getting me in the same day and the upbeat nature of this staff I was pleased at all the little extra touches this place offers. From the up-to-date atmosphere and overall homey and clean environment to my favorite, the military discount which always will make me return again. read more

I went to Lone mt vet about 2021 to get my blue nose staffy her vaccinations. the vaccines where not too expensive but i just didnt feel right about the vet she was female i did not remember her name. My dog has a skin condition/mange and the vet wanted to do a skin culture test she said she wasnt sure about the type of mange and wanted to send the skin sample to UC davis in california for further testing and it would cost about $500 give or take just to find out what kind of mange.. she perscibed antibiotics that was 28pills for $90. i felt i was just being upselled to spend more and wasnt given any other option or homiopathic remedies for demodatic or sarcoptic mange. but there where tons of home remedies on amazon for less than 30$. so i bought this topical liquid called happy jack and sarcoptic mange pills in combination with diluted apple cider vinigar with her food and it work wonders! my dog wasnt scratching her face off no more bloody face and she skins drastically improved in about 2weeks. why did i have to be my own vet? I did not believe she/the "vet"was giving the right solution for my dogs contions with other options for remedies that didnt have to cost hunders even thousands of dollars. i hope this information helps whoever is reading. read more

When my rats had gotten sick I brought them here to have them put down. They treated me and my pets with the most love and respect. They let me have time with them before and after and the custom boxes with their prints were absolutely beautiful. Recently we had to bring in our parakeet to have his beak trimmed and unfortunately he didnt make it and pretty much had a heart attack in the drs hands. They called me the next day and offered to get him cremated which is the most thoughtful thing anyone could have done for us for his sudden death. I will continue to bring my pets here and recommend them to everyone. Not to mention they have they best prices for services. Thank you for caring for my animals and my family! read more

My husband and his family has been coming here for about 15 years. So we obviously came here when we got a new puppy. The front desk staff is great. The vets are great though we never see the same vet consistently. They send us to whoever is on staff that day which I wish we could have the same vet each time or the majority of the time. They do have a very convenient app so you can be reminded of visits or lab work results. The reason we will not be returning however and will now start looking for a new vet is their technicians here are terrible! They are not well educated in their job, they are disorganized, and ultimately they provide no value. The main reason for my annoyance is that for both puppies we bought them from a breeder who takes the dogs in to a veterinarian for the first round of parvo and deworming. It is a legitimate vet and we have the paperwork. When we go to Lone Mountain they fight us every single time we are there to get a 4th parvo shot because they don't want to recognize the 1st parvo shot from the breeder's vet. I'm not an anti-vaccine person by any means by there is no reason to get an extra vaccine for no reason. And now with 2 puppies over 2 years it's a constant fight every time we take the dogs in for vaccines, check ups, etc. In the past 2 years, and 2 puppies they are 1 year apart, I have been to this vet 10 times and I have only had 2 good experiences. The other 8 times I leave feeling beyond annoyed and aggravated. Yesterday was my last visit even though we have prepaid for the puppy packet. Just over that poorly ran place. read more

Bad place ! We take our dog to another vet to get his laser treatment but this time we ended up here. The door to the vet is locked and the normal 20 min session took an hour and they told me they needed another 30 min ! They had at least 50 cars of pets coming and going during the time we were waiting patiently in the car for my 12 year old bull dog to get a simple laser treatment! I got my dog and left ! If this is how they treat people imagine how they are treating your dog !! read more

Many barks to everyone at Lone Mountain Veterinary Hospital! My folks and I had to leave our home Sunday night due to the Caldor fire. It was very stressful for us. And to make things worse, I had to have several stitches (that's another story) removed from my side on Monday. My Mom called Lone Mountain and they said come in at 11:30. I was so scared. When this lovely lady came out to the car, she saw my stress. She said, I'll just get in the backseat and remove those. So, my Mom held me and she gently removed those itchy stitches. But if that wasn't enough, they gave me a bed, blanket, food, toys and poop bags! Wow! And, they wouldn't let my Mom pay! They also offered to board me, but I stayed with my folks. I love them! I would like to thank the great team at Lone Mountain Veterinarian Clinic. I had brought my dog in. She unfortunately, passed away. My dog was lifeless in my home. She still had a faint heartbeat. My stepfather and I rushed her to the vet. During the car ride she passed away. We brought her in. The staff tried to do everything they could to save my dog. By putting an oxygen tube around her nose and restating her. Unfortunately, my dog did not make it. However the team was very professional and understanding of my needs. My dog died of a stroke. She had problems with shaking. Due to getting hit by a car years ago. I will say I have been taking Bebe, to Lone Mountain Veterinarian off and on for years. I also had chosen to have her ashes in a wooden box with her paw print. The next week I picked her ashes up. The lady brought me her ashes and treated me so kindly. They all did. Especially at this time of this horrible coronavirus. Not only that, I received the most thoughtful card from Lone Mountain Veterinarian. It was the sweetest sympathy card. I'm not as impressed as the other reviewer. The front office staff was very nice and my stars are for them. However, the doc... "Meh. I've experienced [much] better." I will tell you what annoys me to no end. Making health care choices for a pet is similar to making choices for humans, only we make the choice for them; "choice", being the operative word. A Vet who approaches with the "I know it all and you're stupid if you don't listen to me" attitude just grates me the wrong way. Each breed of cat or dog has very specific needs and the pet owner is allowed to make them. Not everyone who walks in the door is ignorant about their pet. It would be wise to drop that attitude. There are NOT many Vets who can pull it off. It surely didn't work today - it only alienated me from returning. My pet's health care choices are mine to make and I won't let some Vet make my pet's choices for me or treat me with disregard. In conclusion, if you want someone to take the lead on your pet's health care and treat you like you're clueless, this is the place to go. Personally, as I said, I won't be going back. Our experiences at Lone Mountain have been excellent. Dr Katie went out of her way to comfort our daughter when her guinea pig became ill with terminal cancer. It was so clear that she genuinely cared about the guinea pig and our daughter. Dr. Katie called and checked on my daughter after the visit and actually spent some time taking to us rather than being in a hurry. I also want to add that we had recently moved to Carson City and were going to board our dog at another place for a vacation but we immediately changed over to Lone Mountain after our good experience there and after our dog boarded there he didn't want to leave. Both Gracey and Maxi too are taken care of by Dr. Matt. He is the most caring and best Vet ever.... I will not take my dogs anywhere else unless he tells me to. He is so very on top of everything. I have use Lone Mountain since finding Margie and Dr. Matt. All I have to say is "lets go see Dr Matt" and both dogs jump around like they were getting a treat. I have also put them in my will to go to Dr. Matt. I don't trust my fur babies with anyone but Lone Mountain. The boarding and grooming are tops. I'm on the Wellness plan in fact Maxi was the first one on it. It has saved me a lot of money. You pay once a year and can go in anytime and it's like an insurance. These guys are the very best! I had had terrible experiences at other vet clinics in the area, and they were just awesome and very patient. I have a 12 year old pitbull and a 6 year old beagle and they actually enjoy going to the vet! When I was considering a career in veterinary medicine, Dr Katie Roberts even let me shadow her for a day and allowed me to ask as many questions as I needed! She was so patient and kind! They are VERY thorough and truly care about the animals that walk through their doors. The staff is amazing and take super good care of everyone! I will always go to Lone Mountain. Excellent customer service from everyone at the clinic. They went above and beyond throughout the visit, by thoroughly explaining everything there is to know about my puppy's vaccination, de-worming, prevention of diseases common in this area, as well as behavior related training. We even discussed my other pets who were not even present. They really made me feel valued, no joke. I also love their set up, which reminds me of a doctor's office for humans with their individual comfy rooms. The doctor was nice and knowledgeable as well. SO GRATEFUL FOR LMVH! This last weekend I emailed LMVH last minute to see if there was any room for my two little doggies, Dodger & Lulu. I did not expect a response being Memorial Day weekend and a Sunday morning, and within a few minutes I received a response they would check and get back to me. Luckily, there was an opening. So grateful! Even if there wasn't an opening, I was SO impressed with the response and professionalism. In addition, I had visited the Boarding Facility on Saturday because I was going to board my doggies at the end of August. I have never boarded any dogs of mine before, I was nervous because of course, they are like our children. After meeting Kristy, and seeing the facility I was no longer nervous. Kristy was so awesome! Genuinely nice and interested about my dogs, and put my worries at ease. Even with how busy she was, she was very courteous and professional. So impressed Customer Service still exists! The facility was clean, all the doggies seemed happy, the set up was awesome! Again, just wanted to send a note saying thank you to everyone involved especially Kristy. So amazing to have a place like this that I know my precious doggies will be taken care of and have fun with great people! I will be a regular customer for sure! read more

I can't say enough wonderful things about the staff and the vets. My dog Mischief had an eye irritant that spread to a full blown infection in less than 3 days. Dr. Katie got Mischief in to see Dr. Teresa the same day when I explained the situation. Dr. Teresa was just as wonderful with Mischief and after a lot of discussion, we decided to remove the eye. Sadly, Mischief did not make it to her scheduled surgery date (3 days later) and I had to take her to emergency services on a Sunday afternoon before her eye ruptured. Both Dr. Katie and Dr. Teresa were available to me that day and Margie replied to my emails. So far, Mischief is on the mend and very happy. The whole staff is just wonderful and remembered Mischief immediately. And they have been great with my other dogs as well over the years. read more

Dr Katie Roberts is a wonderful vet with a lot of compassion for each animal she cares for. She is top notch in her knowledge and will never rush through an exam. She caught a very dangerous and fast spreading cancerous growth on our Labrador and was able to remove it entirely. Our poor dog grows new lumps continuously and since the cancer scare Dr Katie will always take the time to check thoroughly for any new growth that may come up to stay ahead of any more cancer that could occur. The staff here love their callings as care givers to our pets and their love for their work always shows. Our pets have all received the best of care here over the years. read more

Sadly, after 13 years of love and companionship, my wife and I had to make the decision to put our dog Madison to sleep on Tuesday. It was, without question, the saddest, hardest day of my life so far. She was my best friend and saying goodbye to her was devastating. I will miss her forever. Knowing that she was quite old and had had some health problems for the last few years, we were scared that her sudden, dramatic turn on Monday might be a sign that the inevitable was near. Unfortunately, we were right. We took her in to Lone Mountain as soon as they opened on Tuesday and met with Dr. Katie Roberts. She was extraordinarily comforting. She was friendly, professional, straight-forward and, above all, extremely compassionate and understanding. While being very respectful and kind, she didn't try to sugar coat what was happening. Instead of guilting us into every test imaginable before making the inevitable diagnosis, she suggested we take it one step at a time, only putting us and Madison through what was absolutely necessary and nothing more. It's astonishing to me that I even need to mention this aspect, but as some of you know, some vets are more interested in billing than actually helping. Dr. Roberts is definitely not one of those kind of vets. When the time came, she was gentle and caring and even shed a few tears of her own. She did her best to make it as easy as something like that can ever be. Even considering the absolutely horrible circumstances of the day, she actually managed to make us leave feeling somewhat better than either of us had expected. It was still a heart-wrenching process, but we are both so glad that she was the one who helped us through it. My first experience with this place came because my great friend and roommate was using them. I moved to the area at the end of August and needed to get my cat fixed. I wasn't overly impressed with them at that time but that was basically the detached manner of the vet I dealt with (not to mention the disconnected phone call in the middle of discussing my cat's surgery). Fast forward to beginning of December. My roommate wanted to get antibiotics for her pug who was showing some problems - and the possibility that he may be allergic to my cats. Because the earliest appointment she could get for her pet was while she was at work, she asked if I could take him in for the appointment. At this time there was nothing life-threatening going on with the pet. The vet recommended some different tests to be performed that we weren't expecting so I wanted to get my roommates approval because I'm not in the habit of spending her money for her. Because of work and a snowstorm, my roommate would not be able to get to the vet's office to make payment that day and I made arrangements to come in the next day. However, while working on this their nurse came out and said that my roommate didn't care about her pet getting better because she wasn't coming in that day to have the tests done. I told the nurse I didn't appreciate the way she was saying that and that her not being able to make it in due to work was not because she didn't care about the pet. She said the same thing several more times. Before leaving I spoke with Lori, the office manager. I told her that I didn't appreciate what the nurse said and Lori began by asking me if I didn't think I'd have to pay for the exam that day even though I was getting out my card for payment. Then Lori basically accused me of wanting them to do free testing for the pet - which is something else I didn't appreciate at all. After Lori finally realized that the issue is that this was not my pet but my roommate's pet, she began telling me how irresponsible it was of my roommate not to bring her pet in herself and her only answer when I told her that my roommate was at work when she could get an appointment was "we have appointments on Saturday". Both the nurse and office manager badgered me about getting my roommate's number so they could call her to get payment - despite all her information being available in the pet's records. That they needed ME to give them that information was baffling to me - do they not keep records on who the pet belongs to? At that point I made sure Lori knew that I would be pulling my own business from them since I didn't care for the way they were prioritizing money over everything else AND accusing my roommate of not caring about her pet and being irresponsible toward the pet. Lori's response was "If that's the way you feel, goodbye". My roommate contacted a friend who knows the owner. Apparently the staff told the owner that they felt I was "snippy" over the situation and the owner's response was "we'll discuss it in a staff meeting" and "mistakes have to be made to get better" (according to their website the owner has been involved with this vet business for at least seven years and she considers insulting her customers to be a 'mistake' that was necessary to 'get better'?) Because we wanted the pet to get better, we kept the appointment for the next day. When I arrived it was Lori, the office manager and Margie, the owner, at the counter. Nothing was said about the day before. I dealt with a different vet from the day before and he gave a grudging apology when I explained to him that I wouldn't be making a followup appointment because we may not be using this vet anymore and why. Though it seemed half-hearted, thus far it was the ONLY effort at remedying the situation. After finishing with the doctor, I went back to the front lobby to PAY FOR SERVICES (which is all they care about) and again it was Lori and Margie at the desk. NOTHING was said about the day before - not even a fake attempt at an apology. Margie's entire conversation to me about anything was reduced to "what's the check number" after telling me the amount to be paid. Even when I told her I wanted copies of my pet's records because I would be finding a new vet she curtly said "Well, I need to get your name." I even noticed that I didn't get a complete copy of the file for my pet. I don't know what the other pages were but they weren't included in what I was given. Still no apology, no discussion over what happened, not even an attempt to say it was a misunderstanding and they didn't mean to accuse my roommate of being an uncaring, irresponsible pet owner. The only discussion they cared to have was about how much money they wanted. I will be finding a vet in the area that doesn't insult their clients AND care more about the money then they do making sure to provide quality service to their customers without making it obvious they only care about money. read more

IF YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR PET SAFE -- DO NOT GO TO THIS VET HOSPITAL!!! I 'was' a client of this hospital. Until the day my sweet little big boy DIED because of their negligence! AND not only that, the morning he was in critical condition from having had a stroke they told me they 'might' be able to fit me in at 2pm! After screaming he had a paralyzed leg, could hardly breathe, and was lethargic they told me I could come in but would have to WAIT an undetermined amount of time because they were booked full for the day! Excuse me?! What part of 'critical' and 'emergency' warrants waiting over routine check ups?! That stupid receptionist even asked me twice if I thought it was critical and an emergency and I told her twice YES! She still told me I'd have to wait my turn if they could squeeze us in! My response; "Forget you! I'm calling Sierra Hospital!" And I did and they told me to come in immediately. Didn't know me from Adam yet treated my cat with the care and respect he deserved. My sweet boy couldn't be saved.. he died from congestive heart failure (CHF) later that day. Sierra was wonderful and are now the only vet I trust my precious babies with. CHF is a genetic defect that is well known in male Ragdolls, and other large cat breeds like Maine Coon and Norwegian Forest cats. If a male has it, it will show up between age 2 and 5. If left untreated it will kill... CHF can be treated and the male cats CAN live a long life. ""IF"" Lone Mountain had been on the ball they would have, SHOULD have detected my sweet boy had this defect when they examined him less than a year prior... but they didn't, they missed it and I have the heartache of having lost my little big boy needlessly.... I'd bet Lone Mountain will have all kinds of excuses and reasons why they didn't find CHF in my cat, but they CAN'T make excuses for having treated a critical situation so lightly...! ........... Seriously? Someone actually marked this review as 'funny' ?! What a cruel person you must be to think the loss of a precious pet is funny! Or are you one of the rude ass staff members at Lone Mountain trying to make light of your incompetence? Ironically the 'only' reviews that have 'funny' marked are the negative ones... read more

I had been bringing in my cat to Lone Mountain Veterinary Hospital since 2003. They always seemed to give him the best care I could ask for. Fast forward to 2012 major complications lead to have to have him put to sleep. He was about 15 years old. They sent me a nice card of condolence signed by Margie and the entire staff. I went to Lone Mountain for 1 it was highly recommended by Petsmart here in Carson City. We are new to the area and finding a vet meeting our needs like our vet has/had in Modesto is hard. We raise Doberman Pinschers and my oldest male has wobblers. From his prescribed meds from other DVM, and I had him neutered, his weight gain was going up over the roof and that was concerning me. No other vets were listening to my concerns until I went to Lone Mountain. Since then with the recommendations to include holistic care, my Doberman Pinscher's pain level has decreased tremendously. His weight after so many months and changing his dose, and finally getting his diet down, his weight is coming down. Only 5 lbs more to go and he should be good to go. His outlook is very promising to live for several more years. read more

This place really was wonderful. The staff is very friendly, compassionate and sensitive. They listen carefully and have done an exceptional job of handling challenging health issues with our dogs. They came to the car to carry our older dog in because she doesn't walk well and has anxiety at any vet. They even came to do curbside laser treatment because it was easier on the dog. Better yet, my mom is a woman of a certain age who refers to herself as high maintenance and sees her pets the same way. They have been very accommodating with her and are patient and understanding with her desire to be present for all procedures. Highly recommended. read more

I switched to this vet and I and my pets are so glad we did. From the minute we walked in the staff put a calming scarf on my very scared Lucy. Dr. Katie was so gentle with her and took her time with her. We are still working with keeping Lucy calm and not upsetting her. I am really sad to write this review as I have been recommending Lone Pine for quite some time to people. We helped re-home a dog who had ALREADY been to a vet and was only a year and a half in age. The new owners decided to take her in for a checkup after bringing her into their home (as suggested) and chose to come here. They were apparently told by Dr.McSweeney that the dog needed extractions and had a torn cruciate that would require surgery. Mind you, this dog is a year and a half in age and runs and plays just fine. They contacted us desperate as to what they needed to do because this was all going to cost thousands. Obviously, this sounded really fishy to us and we asked them to please take the dog to the vet we have used for close to 20 years for a second opinion. As we figured, the second opinion showed that none of this was true. The Doctor told them that her teeth were just fine and he did not see any signs of a torn cruciate and saw absolutely no reason to perform surgery let alone take an x-ray. He told the owner's she was in just fine physical condition as should be expected with her age. He did an extra thorough exam looking for these issues. I'm not sure if maybe he was having an off day or was very confused, but this sort of thing just seems unacceptable. I have always had a lot of respect for Lone Mountain, but this was very very upsetting. What if they had followed through with the surgery and extractions? I do not want to argue with the administration, but again.... the other two vets who saw the dog did not find either of the issues the vet at Lone Mountain Vet did even after the one specifically looked for them. These guys were having a super busy Saturday morning. They were still able to get my cat in on an emergency leg problem. I was so thankful. They laid out the options in a professional manner and also stayed a little late on a Saturday because we got stuck in traffic. read more
