On a weekend trip to Page, I unexpectedly ended up at Lone Rock. I wanted to dip my toes in the sand at Lake Powell and found out that Lone Rock is one of the places to do so. This beach is located right across the border in Utah. We drove over on a Saturday late afternoon. When driving to the shoreline, be careful to follow the path. Unless you have the right vehicle with four-wheel drive, you don't want to risk getting stuck. As you get closer and closer, you'll see a good amount of cars packed a decent ways from the water. There's a reason for this. After a certain point, if gets quite sandy. Unless you have a car for the terrain, you will get stuck. There are signs warning of this danger and we even saw some poor souls who were in this very predicament. Instead, park your car, and make your way by foot. Once you do, you'll be impressed by the beauty of your surroundings. The cliffs in the background. The beautiful water of the lake. Some people chill by the beach. Others rent boats. We stopped by for 20 minutes and made our way. Whether Lone Rock or somewhere else, checking out Lake Powell while in Page is a must! read more

This place is beautiful and sunset hour is magical. We stopped by on Saturday and spent a few hours here relaxing by the water. It was busy as it was labor day weekend and a lot of people were out here camping. There is a parking lot area up at the top with bathrooms and it is about a 0.5 mile walk to the water. The walk is not bad unless it is very hot out as there is no shade. There is deep sand everywhere and we saw MANY people get stuck with their cars. Its important to be super careful when driving out onto the sand.... Entrance fee was $30 per vehicle and the ranger was friendly. read more

This was an unplanned but amazing stop while we were in Page. Just over the Utah border, Lone Rock is within a national park that does cost $30 (or $35) to get into. Don't let that deter you. We parked before the sand got iffy and walked down the hill and right to the water's edge. Blissfully quiet - nature at its finest. There was almost nobody there, save for a few folks that were camping out in their trailers. It's a great escape from an already nearly empty area, and my only regret is we didn't plan better so we could bring some lunch and stay longer. read more

I was driving through the Glen Canyon recreation area and wanted to get a good view of the south end of Grand Staircase Escalante monument so I kept turning down random roads and ended up near Lone Rock and the entrance to Lone Rock beach. My understanding is that Lone Rock at one time (not so long ago) was surrounded by the waters of Lake Powell but drought conditions have receded the lake to the point that I saw no water whatsoever around the structure. Not sure if this changes throughout the year based on season but just a heads up that you may not see it in all its former aquatic glory. But the views here are still great, and the lake is still there, including a beach you can camp right on. I was there in late October and it was pretty darn empty (as you can see from my photos) but I imagine during peak summer it's a hoppin', if not crowded, area. Worth a little drive off the main path, though, even if you're only going to admire the view. read more

Lone Rock - Lake Powell 2021 - Beaches Near Me - Big Water, Utah

It's a rock. It's a lone rock. So, I guess my take on this, as a place to go and site see, not really much going on here .... a rock, oh, and it's in the water. If you're looking for a photo op then it's a quick trip in. You do kind of have to be cautious as you can get stuck in the sand trying to drive out to view the Lone - Singular - One - Uno - Rock. (In case you're wondering - we didn't get stuck). Now, if I lived here, and found myself in the mood to camp out on a beach type place, then this is the place for you and would probably be more like a 3 star. There is plenty of space (and lots of people were doing this) to set up your tents, rv's, modified tents on top of SUV's .... get a fire going .... get in the water and enjoy a warm outskirts of Page, AZ hot day. Worth stopping here if you're just taking pics, probably not. The fee to get in was $$ a little on the high side for a quick in and out. But again, staying and camping, probably not the worst place to go. read more

Beautiful place, some areas fairly private, which was nice. Could have been cleaner ( lots of dog poop on the beach and some trash) and the gate person was rude. Overall gorgeous & relaxing once we found our spot. Main beach was very crowded with campers. read more
