Great job and great customer service. I had a GMC Yukon XL 5.3L gas engine rebuilt by Lone Star Engine. They did a great job! They told me what it cost up front. They had to replace the engine block because of significant metal on metal damage. I was able to stop by the shop and see the installation and talk to the mechanics. I cannot say enough good things about this place. I followed the process for "breaking in" a rebuilt engine, and they replaced the breaking oil and I am good to go! Thank you! read more

​DO NOT use this place they are a total rip off. I was quoted 3200 for a rebuilt engine for my jeep. Stupid me I trust people my mistake. By the time it was finished the price had jumped to almost 5 grand. Then he couldn't get the engine started to me i needed a new battery and to bring it with me to pick it up. I bought another battery went to pick it up and it still wouldn't start. He ​finally said they needed to look more closely so to leave it for a few more days and he would deliver it to me. By now it is over 5000.00 dollars. It was finally delivered to me. When i got in it to start it it still wouldn't start. Im not a machnic but i could tell it was a starter problem. I replaced ​the started and it started but the check engine light would not go off the the oil light came on and wouldn't go off. Come to find out the engine had no oil in it and only a little water in the radiator. I had more oil in it but couldn't pull the drain plug ​because it had been stripped to the point of being rounded off. I started it and it seemed to run fine. Got out on the street and it died again this time it was out of timing . So i spent another 150.00 to have that fixed now remember nobody can get the check engine light to go of. It sat at my drive for a month because i was afraid to drive it. Then I decided to drive it a little today and got about 2 miles from home and the motor locked up again. Remember all this time the guy refused to work with me on anything. I Had originally blown a hole in the block. Thinking that they are going to rebuild and replace the block .. NO!!! they never even removed the engine. They look like they welded a plate over the hole and epoxy ed it. When i called them about it be locked up again. I was told to screw off. And when i theaten to sue he he said to f@&$ off and hung up on me. So the 3200.00 quoted fee turned​ out to cost me over 7000.00 dollars and Im right back in the same boat with a blown engine and 7000.00 dollars lighter. Oh and the warranty he quoted me was a joke. It has taken them three months to complete a job that should have been finished in a week. They are completely unreliable, they lie, and their work is also unreliable. When confronted about issues, they hang up. This company isn't in the automotive repair business; they're in the excuse business, and their excuses don't hold up. I don't trust them. read more

AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE! A wasted 4K! I would give them 0 stars if I could. Needed an engine rebuild for my Jeep Wrangler. Ariel was very helpful in the beginning. Communication could've been better throughout the whole process though. 3 weeks later the Jeep was finally ready to handoff, and not even a mile down the road my engine light started beeping and flashing. Brought it right back and they said it needed a new oil sensor but everything was perfectly safe. I noticed a towing strap was missing from my backseat but didn't think too much of it. A couple weeks later I brought it back to replace the sensor and to get an oil change (per the contract I signed to keep my year warranty on the engine) 3 hours later I was finally back on the road. I was about to take a road trip about 800 miles round trip and I asked Ariel if my engine could handle it. He informed me that it was 100% safe for me to travel. Well I got on the road and not even 1 mile down the road, my engine light went haywire again! Brought it right back and they found a random part that was fried. They supposedly replaced it and got me back on the road about an hour later. Fast forward two days and about 300 miles away in the middle of Oklahoma, my engine thermostat went from normal to overheating instantly. Pulled over to see that I was spewing coolant all over the place. 3 hrs later had it towed to a local mechanic and he informed me that the engine was ruined and I NEEDED A WHOLE NEW ONE! He added that whoever rebuilt the engine did a bad job in rerouting a hose that caused a chain reaction to wearing a hole in my oil tank! (Jeeps have a plastic one so the heat/friction from the hose caused the hole) He said if it hadn't been rerouted the way it was, none of this would've happened! So of course I called Ariel to inform him of all of this and his response was "anything that happens outside of the engine, is not our problem and not covered under your warranty" ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME!!?! This happened because of you! It's not like I went up and tinkered with things to cause all of this! He had no problem in telling me he could fix it though for another 4K... Long story short, I'm ending up having to just surrender my vehicle to my bank because it's gonna cost more to fix the engine than what's left on the car note. To make things even worse, I was cleaning out my vehicle and noticed a bunch of my tools and towing equipment had been stolen! Not only did they do a bad engine rebuild, don't "warranty" any of their work and go back on whatever word they give you... THEY STOLE MY BELONGINGS! I've lost my dream car that took me years to be able to drive. Please avoid the massive headache and do not do business with this shady mechanic. read more

Lonestar rebuild my engine cost me 2000 more than they originally quoted and the truck kept overheating never would stop overheating charged me for extra parts to make it stop overheating and it's still never stopped overheating by the time the warranty ran out they told me there was nothing else they could do so I got cheated out of thousands of dollars they are terrible would not recommend them for nothing read more

I took my pickup to them to rebuild or replace the engine. They rebuilt it and charged me around $14,000 I was able to drive 205 miles before I had to have it hauled to a real mechanic and pay $18,000 to get it done correctly. Don't waste your time or money with them. read more

I bought my car there to get the engine rebuilt. First, they increased the estimate, second, they broke my a/c unit, and third, the check engine light came on they refused to fix it. Horrible Don't Go !!!!!!!!! Communication is Key!!! Seriously the only reason I gave them one star because I could give less!!! (Read all the reviews) I did my research by people in Dallas Fort Worth Area who could be the best potential engine repair guys. It seemed like this was the place. I was told a quote of 1500 from the make and model of my vehicle. We all know that could possibly change once they inspect your vehicle so I was like that was a good starting place. Take in mind that my vehicle could run and drive I just knew that the engine was on its way out. When I had it towed to the place for the repair which I literally drove the vehicle to the tow truck. I sat around and waited for a week to hear a response about my vehicle and was never given a proper "here's what's wrong we need to do" call or estimate after inspecting. But I figured they were busy and they would call. Maybe 2 weeks in I receive a call and a young man informed me that my vehicle is almost finished and the mechanic would call me after he is finished with the work. So I'm like I guess the 1500 is the price and was ok. Maybe a week later I receive a call from a older gentleman the mechanic stating there is a problem and to fix my vehicle he would need to buy extra parts and it would be $500 more. By this time I grew frustrated by lack of communication from the mechanic and not having a vehicle I figured 500 bucks more and my vehicle was fixed whatever let's just get this over with even though you never told me what was initially wrong with the vehicle. I then receive a call from the same mechanic saying your truck is ready but we have a problem. I repaired your engine but now the truck is not moving. WTF are you serious. Let me get this right it could have been driven to your shop before you recieved my vehicle but after you put in 2000.00 worth of work now it can't move something isn't right here!!!!! Please save yourself from this place stay away and go somewhere else. Trust me these people are very unprofessional and scam artist. AVOID. This place made me waste money unnecessarily, they consistently tel you the car will be ready but they havent even started. The owner does not care about anything but money and the manager does not know anything. After so many visits to go back because the car was not performing right I gave them about 5000 to rebuilt my car and now find out that I have a blown head gasket and im sure its because of their poor work ethic. The workers even dented my car while it was at the shop, do not take your car here if you dont want to waste time and money. read more

Right now not so good. I was told a week and a half to two weeks. That was on 11/9. Today is 12/8 and still get excuses when I call. That too. I have to do the calling. He does not keep me informed about what is going on with MY car. I am paying you to fix MY car. The last call was I needed spark plugs and more parts and of course more money. RUN!!! These people are SHADY. They quote you a price and then add on additional money without discussing it with you first. They then "HOLD YOUR CAR HOSTAGE" if you have a problem with the price or don't want to pay. They told me it would take TWO DAYS for them to fix my car...we're going on THREE WEEKS. They never call, and when you call them, they just pass you around and no one will give you a straight answer. They're super nice at first to get your business but IT'S NOT WORTH IT! Not even worth one star in my book. STAY AWAY. UPDATE: My car wasn't fixed. It broke down the same day I got it back and I've been told that I STILL NEED A NEW ENGINE. I am so happy to find Ariel and this team of mechanics! I looked for weeks for someone that would guarantee their work, my 2007 Ford Explorer. I have always kept up the maintenance, but after 12 years it was time for transmission work, a new radiator, and all kinds of expensive parts, which still beats buying new. When I found out I needed the timing chain, I checked shops, and individuals, and got quotes from A-Z. This is an expensive job, that no one wanted to guarantee, until I found Lone Star Engine. I asked if they could check the motor while they did the work, and for a reasonable fee, he offered to tear it down and clean / replace parts with a one year, unlimited warranty, with the stipulation, that I bring it back in for an oil change at 500 miles:) Before, I dropped it off on Monday I was still apprehensive, because of previous reviews. About that time, Ariel walked out with a very happy, very complimentary customer who got into his older model car and drove away, grinning from ear to ear. I was given a one week time frame for repair, and on Friday at noon, I got the call, that she was ready! First off they quoted my rebuild of 4.7l v8 Dodge ram 1500 on phone. $1695, so I called around and other shops were $2500+. When I called back they asked me what price I was quoted wtf.. I asked why they were cheaper than everyone else. He said cause they did all the work in house (no middle man) ok I can dig that. He told me he would call and let me know what's going on with my truck and what parts need replaced. Replaced my spark plugs, reasonable price I think. radiator fan charged me $161 and I find the fan from $35-60. when I got my truck back all my abs lights were on and had some oil dripping. took it back and they said its the oil pump sensor and they tightened it and said I may need another one if it keeps leaking. and to check my ABS sensor may need replacing. oh yes total cost ended up I think $2700. when I came back for 100 mile check they charged me for the oil change that was part of the work from my understanding $60..and said they had to tighten oil pan for the dripping oil that was previously told it was sensor. LOL. I replaced brake light switch, abs wheel speed sensors to no avail brake lights still on. now I am constantly under hood just looking and bingo connector not plugged in. plugged it up and all the abs lights are off cruise control works and all. They did not go over the small details which could have cost me $$$ only spent an extra 60 on sensors and brake switch. read more

Horrible shotty work !!! Long story short these guys replaced a 5.3 engine in my suburban ...because they failed to check all my fluids the same afternoon I picked up my truck I blew the transmission due to lack of fluid...on top of all that after I fixed the tranny ....the truck was still running a bit off ...so my transmission man checked my check engine light and a MAP sensor poped up so I bought the sensor and Rafael (the owner of lonestar) agreed to install it ...so as one of his mechanics is working on it in I'm watching and turns out they never plugged my MAP sensor in ....I confront Rafael and he could have cared less .....so I left with the truck running better & just happy it was finally over but I noticed that I had a hard time shifting into 3rd gear ...the truck would rev up way too high and then shift ....I took it back to the transmission shop and after a long while of investigation (the tranny shop) they found some ground wire from the engine block was not hooked up !!!! So my computer was out of wack for the shift points !!!! The transmission shop was the true hero here !!! And on the topic of price they originally quoted me 1500.00 but after my engine was all apart the claimed that 1 head needed replacing and some injectors were bad so I ended up paying 2,000.00 ...500 more ...................................................................................... Moral of my story do yourself a favor and pay a little more at a reputable shop these guys get you in with their cheap prices but will gouge you once they have your engine in pieces ....they will lie about more parts damaged and they will get you in the end .....and not only that... they won't hook sensors and wires back up like they were originally intended to be ....
