They have freezer sections, fresh cuts, vacuum sealed items, I'd even go as far as saying that if you needed something off-menu, they might be able to hook you up. The folks behind the counter were very patient, and super efficient. We ended up leaving with two maple blueberry breakfast sausages, two decent sized New York Strip steaks, 2 girthy Who Dat Balls, 2 giant stuffed chicken breasts (one Italian, one 4 cheese), a dozen boudin stuffed tamales, and two thiccc vac-sealed brisket burgers. Even so, there so much more to go back for. Luckily this joint sits right along the route to family, and we will be back for more. They have an array of your usual meats, plus a plethora of exotic and wild meats, and accompaniments. Some of their items can come pre-seasoned or pre-rubbed. Parking is easy on a weekend, but could be tight during rush. They also have a customer service reward program, so get your stamp on. I'll update after I have cooked some of the foods, and sampled more of the inventory.

There is very little parking onsite and it seemed to be valet only @ $6. We parked at the public lot behind and there was a charge by the hour at $5. It is a 2 story building that resembles a throwback warehouse from the late 1800's. Upon walking in we were greeted immediately from the hostess and asked me what my name was for the reservation. I did not have one but they were still able to accommodate us. We were seated on the second floor main dining which was accessible by stairs or elevator. Got a great window seat with the Houston skyline! Our waitress was the bartender as well and she was very thorough and cheerfully polite. We already knew what we wanted so we dived right in with appetizers of broccoli soup, whipped ricotta w pita bread, and meatballs. All were delicious! Lunch consisted of my Reuben sandwich and my wife and daughter had the rigatoni w vodka sauce and steakhouse salad. Presentation was flawless and I was not expecting very large steak fries and coleslaw with my Reuben these were a bonus because the menu description stated it was chips accompanying the sandwich. Sandwich was very good just thought there could have been a little more Russian dressing and the Cole slaw was hot and not refrigerated. The corned beef was hot and moist. The Rigatoni was dry as well. Other than some minor issues with the food and I should have caught this when the waitress asked if we wanted sparkling or still water and I stated still and guess what came out a bottle of spring water along with an $8 additional charge. Oh well that is my fault and the waitress for upselling water without disclosing the additional charge. Overall we enjoyed everything and lastly I did manage to snag a NY Cheesecake for dessert with a light coating of blueberry sauce!

My husband took me to B&B Butchers for my birthday, and we had such a good dinner!…read more We ordered one of the big steaks that's meant for two--I believe it was the porterhouse--and when I say this thing was GIANT, I mean giant. There was absolutely no way we were finishing it. We brought a ton home, so while it's definitely pricey, you are getting a LOT of food. The steak itself was top notch and cooked perfectly. We started with the bacon appetizer, which was delicious and, again, so much food. We also had the Brussels sprouts and potatoes as sides, and both were really good. I cannot for the life of me remember the names of our drinks, but I remember one was similar to a Moscow Mule and the other was a martini-type drink with a little sliver of dragon fruit in it. I really wish I remembered the name because that one was SO good. Service was great from start to finish. The inside has more intimate, dim lighting, which was perfect for a birthday dinner or date night, but it wasn't overly stuffy. People were dressed anywhere from nice to fairly casual. It is definitely an expensive dinner, but we knew that going in when we made the reservation, so there was no sticker shock. Between the huge steak, great sides, drinks, and service, we really enjoyed our night. We'll definitely be back!

Everything I've tried has been excellent. It's especially great for stocking the freezer with something you can pull out later in the week for an easy dinner that still feels like a real meal. Everyone I've recommended it to has loved what they've tried as well. This location is great, although one thing to know is that it doesn't serve hot prepared meals like their other location does, where you can get a full plate with things like chicken, étouffée, collard greens, and other sides. I do wish they offered that here too. For Cajun food in Houston, especially something you can take home and cook yourself, this is one of my favorite places. I recommend it all the time and would go back in a heartbeat. It really feels like a local staple, and I'm glad we have it in Houston.

Herbert's Specialty Meats on Richmond near the Galleria instantly took me back home. The moment you walk in, the number of items from Louisiana is delightful Their boudin, seasonings, and prepared items reminded me so much of my grandmother's gumbo, boudin, and rich, slow-cooked stews--comfort food that warms your soul. You can taste the authenticity and love in everything they make. This is the kind of place that understands balance, spice, and tradition. Customer service was excellent--friendly, patient, and genuinely happy to help you find exactly what you're craving. There are tons of choices, whether you're stocking up for a cookout or just grabbing something to satisfy that Cajun craving. For anyone missing Louisiana flavors or wanting the real deal in Houston, Herbert's is a must-stop. It feels like a little piece of "The Boot"
