Once he confirmed it was repairable, he quickly cut the string, replaced the tuner, and got everything back in place. The whole process took less than 10 minutes! I live in Carson, so driving out to Lakewood and getting it fixed the same day was such a relief. This guitar isn't for professional use--it's for my daughter who's just starting to learn--so having it ready right away saved me a lot of time and hassle. I've had plenty of basic setups before, but this felt like a whole different level of attention and care. He walked me through what makes his Rockstar Setup different and you can tell it's not just a quick adjustment, it's a full dial-in of the instrument. When I got my guitar back it played incredibly smooth, stayed in tune better, and just felt more responsive overall. Anything and everything that could be oiled or lubricated was taken care of. The amount of work and detail that goes into the rockstar set up actually takes a few days and I guess depending on the condition of your guitar the longer it takes. My guitar had a lot of rust on the bridge and tuning keys. One of the saddles was even frozen in place and I couldn't get the string out. Steve took care of it. I didn't even notice how bad the condition of the guitar was in until I saw all of the photos Steve took. (Before and after). Who does that? It's hard to describe, but it actually made me want to pick it up and play more. Everything felt tighter and more precise without sacrificing comfort. The smell of the oil on the bridge and the lemon oil on the neck actually smell good too! You can tell Steve takes pride in going beyond the standard setup and really bringing out the best in the guitar. If you're on the fence about upgrading from a regular setup I'd definitely recommend going for it. I'll be sticking with the Rockstar Setup from now on.

My boyfriend had P90s installed in his Les Paul and needed it back in time for a gig, and Steve delivered! On my BC Rich he dialed everything in perfectly the intonation is spot on! the action feels just right, and the neck adjustment made a huge difference in how it plays. It's not easy to find someone who works this fast and still pays attention to all the details, but Steve definitely does. I wouldn't hesitate to bring any of our guitars back to him, we live in Long Beach and his shop is so close to us another plus!

I am a chef so i HATE yelp. I never write reviews. But in my spare time to keep my insanity i love playing on my Martin D-28. The action was high. As i learned i never really had a true setup. And i was thinking about a pickup to amplify and play with my sound. I started an adjustment and an actual setup for my first time. And after some research on my new luthiers recommendation called him up and said "Yes Let's do it." So he installed the K&K pure mini on my axe. I realized that Guillermo is where i want to be in a few years. The dream of being amazing at your craft. In a shop in the town you love. Doing what you love. Something resinated with me interacting with him. He made an emotional connection through his passion for music. He pointed me in the exact direction i was supposed i was supposed to head. A lot has been written on Yelp about the impeccable work and the wizardry that is performed here. It is all true. Guillermo and John are masters at their craft. The store itself makes you want to try out one of the beautiful guitars they have for sale. There is a cozy lesson room where Guillermo was warming up to teach a lesson and the most beautiful music rung out and filled the shop. I had a quick repair to a missing strap button which was done on the spot. John showed me about four broken head stocks in for repair - when they are completed they will be stronger than new. If you love your stringed instrument as much as I do, and their many loyal customers - skip the big box, big number store and visit Long Beach Guitar Repair where you won't be another customer, you will be part of the family. I Yelp and Amazon everything now but there's some services you just can't get online, guitar and bass repair for one. Yet. I continue to believe you cannot replace face to face customer service and meeting the people who you ask to help you out. First time here and upon walking in I was greeted and proceeded to just talk about things musical as Brian was testing a custom guitar. I wanted some Seymour Duncans installed in my American Jazz bass with some minor fret work, string change and set up. I was quoted a reasonable estimate and Brian said it would be ready by Saturday. Completed as promised, set up was as requested and bass played and sounded beautifully. I've had work done at more than a few shops in the South Bay area and have to say I'll be coming back to Long Beach Guitar Repair. Great work, great communication. OK so I needed a bridge replaced on a older Taylor 750 12 string. I didn't want to just hand it off to anybody. I found this shop online and started reading the reviews. There was one guy who wasn't too happy with his bridge replacement but all the other reviews were good so I went for it. Took a little longer then expected (due to holidays and them getting busy) but I picked it up yesterday and have absolutely no regrets. Perfect reproduction of the original bridge but just a little better then the original. Price was very fair, work was excellent and the guitar plays and sounds amazing. I'll be back. Absolutely love and trust Long Beach Guitar Repair! Recently had setups done including work on my input jacks, and volume/tone knobs, on my Clapton Fender Strat and Semi-hollow body Hammer. Just got my Custom Shop SG back from John this morning... I am very, very pleased! Fast turnaround (less than a week for a setup), amazing work, and reasonably priced. Great job guys! I have a relatively cheap, but solid top, Yamaha acoustic. Brought it in for a setup. Action is great. And the low E resonates so nicely now. This thing really sounds nice. When World Of Strings closed I was very disappointed. Luckily a friend had told me about Long Beach Guitar Repair. When I went in it was very assuring when I saw the same familiar faces from WOS. These guys are some of the best I've worked with. I've had them set up strats, archtops, semi-hollows, even the acoustasonic jazz master. Fret leveled and swapped pickups on a few as well.
